Doesn't the League Cup winner also get an EL position? Since that was Newcastle and they're getting CL that position would be bumped down. 5th is now getting CL alongside the EL Winner, so that has to be bumped down a place in addition to the FA Cup winner's spot.
So 6th place is EL, plus the FA Cup Winner, plus 7th is taking Newcastle's EL spot?

I don’t think league cup has a designated spot for Europa league, just the two for England -FA cup and one for the league. Maybe it gets Europa conference?

I don't get what Onana is supposed to be.
Yoro earlier was running towards goal under pressure and expected help from his keeper, but nothing.
He's supposed to be a sweeper, effectively another CB when the line is high. But he never comes for anything and just hoofs random long balls up the field.
I can't seriously believe he's being told to play that way, but he wasn't like this before United signed him.

Scrappy goal in a scrappy game, as expected when two low quality teams play each other.
I'm not sure how easily United will get back in it, they're somewhat lacking in creativity.

United need more urgency in their play. They've been the better team (just) and undone by a moment of crap defending but both teams overall have been toothless upfront.

Neither side deserve to win this

    edit

    Well done Spurs.
Ange will be gone at the end of the season, I don't think he should go but he will.

Richie... United NEED a striker next season. Getting Cunha will help but you need someone who can score goals. Delap is a good cheap option as he got 12 goals in a rubbish team but your main focus next season should be Striker, Advanced creative midfield and creative destroyer in midfield.

Spurs need a Striker (Solanke is good at best) and a solid hard defensive midfielder as their too easy to play through and are no where near clinical upfront.

Well, at least some of these overpaid ****s will get a wage cut now which might encourage them to get lost.
And I save time and money, since European football is the only thing I pay for.

Fire sale should start from now, at least half that squad should never play again for the club.

    lol

From those in contract, the usual suspected that they'll try to move on IMO
Onana as he's just crap. I still maintain you'd have faired better sticking with de Gea
Casemiro - Legs gone. There's a hell of a lot to like about what he brings but as an active player, he's a liability in the premier league. They'll move him on just to get wages off the books as even a free transfer now benefits them.
Bayinder - wants out so no issues there
Hojlund - will sell if they get decent money. I suspect they'll try to rebuild confidence next season as they paid £70m for him and he's had one OK season and one crap season. There is a player there, its just very hidden currently.
Zirkzee - I think they'll keep unless they get a silly offer for him

Those with contract expiry this season - gone

    Outside that

Garnacho/Mainoo - One or the other will be sold to finance the Amorim rebuild, outside chance both will go but I'm guessing Garnacho is at most risk

No one else will move unless there is a silly offer

Keep Yoro, Dorgu & Amad, they can basically bin the rest and use the youth players.
They disgraced the shirt with this PL campaign, it's not acceptable to do that and be allowed to be part of the club's future when they've contributed so much to ruining it.

    Do that you go down.

Honestly, football fans are just the worst when they lose as all sense of perspective disappears.

A draw and extra time was a fair outcome based on 90 mins. United lost because of ONE moment where Spurs had a chance and somehow managed to spawn a goal. Outside that, they were barely a threat.
Amorim had United playing "solidly" but safe. Once he released them with 20mins to go, they looked a little more like the United of old (a little), he needed to do that after half time not with 20mins to go.
As with Solskjaer, I can see what he's trying to do. With the formation and mentality change it is a far bigger change that what Solskjaer was aiming for but this time round, I'm not expecting him to be sabotaged by the signing of Ronaldo (unless they go for Pogba).

In all honesty, Spurs have the biggest challenge next year as the big question for prospective signings will be "Who will be the manager next year"

Edit - Just seen that Romero was man of the match....
Richie, when a defender is MoM, it typically means that the winning team won against what the performance indicated should have been the case. Ergo - United need someone who can actually score a goal

It's not right that most of these United players can walk out on Matchday 1 next season and act like they didn't just have the worst season in my lifetime, nor should they be allowed to forget it.
They've got away with taking the piss for too long, out of the fans and the badge. If they can't do what the manager wants they shouldn't play, and most of these players have proven they can't or won't do it.

A new striker won't make any difference if the players can't carry the ball, win midfield duels, track runners, press or play a high line. Even if those things happened, the only striker the club can afford is Liam Delap. Sign a lower table striker and remain a lower table side, that's the level of ambition now.

I just love that my football team is going to end the EPL season as far down the table as you can get without being relegated, and still qualify for Champions League through what is essentially the backdoor.

    Absolutely hilarious, no notes.

It's absolutely right they walk out on MD1 and assume last season is over because, last season is over and they need to build up[ a new head of steam rather than focus on what was and as per Ted Lasso, they should be a goldfish.

Also, most of these players have won triophies for you over the last 2 years, Did you watch the match today? They tried to do the same again and were the better team (just)

The midfield in the main won their duels and took the ball forwards, they tracked the runners and kept a high line all as you asked. The goal was conceded because Onana's positioning could have been better (not a mistake though) and the defence suffered a bad ricochet. From a forward perspective, there was no one in the box ANY player felt was capable of putting it in the goal. Delap is an upgrade on Hojlund right now and I would be more confident with him in the box for Barrow than I would Hojlund. You'll have around £80m to spend on transfers pre sales. Cunha and Delap will take you to £100m so you need to move either Garnacho or Mainoo on to bring in the money for a midfielder unless the contract endings free up the right amount for both fee and contract.

You've got Cunha by all accounts, this is a good to great signing for you
You'll probably get Delap, good signing
You'll more than likely bolster the midfield but not with Wharton who you probably need, you may go for another Cunha type like Mbemo or Semeno first

The creative destroyer IMO is the third most important player to get next season but I suspect that Amorim will only go there if Casemiro moves on. Thats a big IF right now.

It was painful trying to watch it, bad enough being **** without also being incredibly boring.
Priority should be CM and a RWB that will play higher up the pitch and run with the ball instead of standing still and passing backwards.
And sign players who will play the ball first time instead of taking 10 touches, faster transition stops teams being able to get back into defensive shape. I'm not sure why that needs to be explained to the current lot but apparently it does.

Probably a last hurrah for Big Ange at Spurs, but he gets the last laugh either way.

Good season overall for other clubs outside of the usual competitors

Newcastle with their first major trophy in 70 years
Spurs with their first since 2008
Palace with the first trophy ever

Maybe next season it will be the turn of Villa or Brighton or Bournemouth

Regardless of their PL standing, I really doubt that Tottenham are going to sack Ange after today’s win. Their first big trophy since 2008, meaning other big name coaches didn’t achieve this. And even their official accounts (and many fan accounts) are replaying his “I always win things in my second season” answer from last year.
