Yeah, I go Devon style, because I like twice as much clotted than jam. Scones are pretty much just a vehicle to get as much dairy in me as possible.
Scones and bread are biscuits . Dunking biscuits in gravy is ok . No , I say , no! We must push back against this disinformation and alternative facts.
Oh no. No no no. Scones are jam first, then clotted cream on top. Get your Devon BS out of my thread.
Cornwall begs to differ. Although officially it's not settled, as the origins of clotted cream are shrouded in the mists of history, but it's always been associated with both counties. However, as my Grandma-in-law was Cornish, I'm honour bound to stand on the Cornish side of the dispute.
Wait till we discuss the mighty Jaffa Cake Often mistaken for a biscuit and kept on the biscuit isle but is very much a cake Now that is a risky treat to dunk
Yeah, "biscuits" in the US are not the same as scones... we have scones too, though not as widely available as in the UK. But that got me thinking... at McDonald's here they have breakfast sandwiches on biscuits (with egg, sausage, etc.). So I checked to see if McDonald's in the UK has those too, and what they call them. Alas, they don't have them anyway... they have the same McMuffins as the US, but instead of biscuit sandwiches they have bread sandwiches they call rolls.
I feel a strong urge for clotted cream, but the only way I can get hold of it is to make it myself, and that takes a whole night, so I can't get any right now. And it's cream, then jam.
