She's been really insufferable for this season (and like half of the last one). I never hated her at all, but at some point she decided to go totally off the rails...
Yeah, that's what a friend of mine told me. He said it was so bad, it felt like the writers hated the character and WANTED the audience to want her killed off.
I'd agree with that. And I am starting to wonder if something happened between her and James Spader. It just all seems so very odd. Clearly, she had to leave for a reason this season. They didn't just decide not to have the main character appear for 8 episodes. But it's all very quiet and now she's leaving after Spoiler Her character has been shot. It all seems designed so that: Spoiler Elizabeth Keen is dead by the end of next episode. Maybe not LITERALLY, but in every other way. Afterall, Katarina Rostova disappeared. It stands to reason that Katarina/Red makes her disappear for good this time. We know Kate nearly succeeded in hiding her from Red when Agnes was born. So they likely do that, and Liz is totally off the grid. With the blacklist somewhat destroyed, it seems like that Red will need to rebuild somehow and that is likely going to lead to a new deal with the Task Force for what I assume is the final season.
Okay, that was a very annoying episode. Spoiler So they still don't say explicitly that Red is Katarina. But they sure as heck drop more clues: 1) Someone took this photo. You were there weren't you? "I was there" 2) You knew her well? "Better than anyone" (or whatever Red said) 3) If you knew who I was before, you would never agree to kill me. 4) And then the clip show that ONLY showed Katarina and Red caring for Liz like a parent. I'm ticked they didn't just fake Liz's death. They had the time if they just sped up Red's "death" scenes they could have ended with Liz on an island with Agnes, far away from all of this as she finally reads the letter. Instead, nope- they just kill Liz off like she's nothing. Like we haven't spent 8 seasons with this stupid mystery... And they still refused to say it outright!
Spoiler It's interesting they decided to kill her off, assuming they don't "Vaughn in S5 Alias" her for an inevitable end of the show. But the nihilism is getting a bit much -- with Red saying he's terminal, likely soon, and ready to give up... I can't see this show going more than the one more season, as a "Red on a revenge rampage" storyline now that Red's one reason for living is gone...
I haven't watched it yet, but me and a friend were discussing it last night, and we both agree with these assessments. @dp4m that was my exact prediction to my friend last night. Scorched Earth season 9.
we just had the finale . well I was enjoying it til the end , Spader was great , but Spoiler no way would he leave her to bleed to death in the street the Alice statue seemed significant but I don't know how.
Also, I still can't get over this after however many years of the show... Spoiler That's not how bullets work! Holes are bigger leaving, not going in! If she were shot in the back her heart would have been all over Red!
Alright Blacklisters! Season 10 is under way. Everyone get in your season opener Honorability Rankings.
Dead tv characters are amongst some of the most disenfranchised of our society and I am proud to support them.
I never know, I've thought it was ending for the last 4 years, and then it just comes back, and they're not short seasons, 20+ each.
It is the best show on television right now. Of course it's not ending. Anyway: Honorability Rankings 1. Elizabeth 2. Dembe [Others Undecided]
Well, Red did it his way. Not sure how I feel about the ending. It was well done and appropriate. And yet, it was also simple. Which I think is why it works. But it’s hard to feel like it’s a fitting end for all the characters. The show changed with Liz’s death. And while Red was always great and even got a little better, it felt like a lot of the story was never fleshed out. We know Spoiler Red was dying. It’s why everything was being shut down- his heir (Liz) was dead and he didn’t want Agnes to take that on. And we saw him take care of various members of his team. But, what did he leave for Agnes? Clearly he didn’t leave her with nothing-we’ll never know. And was that “Pinky you’re being such a mom” again supposed to point to Redarina?
I liked this show for a long time. I liked watching it with you all, even if only a few of you would even begrudgingly talk about it. Thanks for this.
