Returned from running to sam's warehouse i have and agitated i am...

I bought some metal edging for the rock beds at 15.99 per 6 ft section and at the warehouse i got em for 25 bucks for 4 6 ft sections...

Pada that's not too far out from the city - all you have to do is hop the blue line and it'll take ya right downtown

and now it's time for teh lurky's unofficial guide to navigating chicago:

the city streets are for the most part set up in a grid. each street has a name, direction and number. for example - Belmont 3200 North. the street numbers start in the middle of the loop at State and Madison (each being 0 and 0) then for every block that you go north or south of madison, add 100 and mark north or south - thus belmont is 32 blocks north of madison. state street is the same only the direction it marks is east and west - so for every block you go west or east of state street, add 100 and mark west or east. Further, there are 8 city blocks to one mile, so since belmont is 32 blocks north of madison, and there are 8 blocks to a mile that means belmont is 4 miles north of madison. which helps if you know the street numbers of where you start and end, then you can approximate how far away you are - say you're at 6400 North and 3200 West, and you need to go to 1600 North and 800 West - that means you need to go about 6 miles south and 2 miles east to get to where you need to be. also say your wandering around and you cant figure out which direction you're going, all you have to do is look at the street numbers if they're going 3502 W., 3508 W., 3512 W., that means you are traveling west (away from downtown). see no problemo! this is why chicagoans give intersections instead of exact addresses when asked where something is.

I parked my rental car one block west of the corner of Michigan and Delaware. Much evil shopping was there. Sax 5th Ave, Tiffany & co., Neiman Marcus....the bane of heterosexual men everywhere.

Although I did get to see Soldier Field as I drove to get there. So I had that going for me.

he most certainly does - Pada - take the blue line/(congress douglas) - you can get on at ohare airport or cumberland (which has a parking lot) and go west into downtown. take that all the way down to washington. there you will switch to the red line (howard/dan ryan) and go north. get off at Addison - you can't miss it (and if you go you better get me a ticket too )

edit: i'm talking about the El - sorry if that wasnt clear
