Someone asked me th other day if poetry is still a practiced form of Art or if it has become something lost through the different passages of time and I didn't know what to say so I said "hell no."
Whenever I hear the word art I only think of one thing. I think of the scene in the wonderful movie Gia where the European Director tells Angeline Jolie and her friend on the fence that it's time to "Make some Aht," and if you've seen the movie it's great despite the over the top nature of the film which sometimes seems like the last five minutes of Requiem for a Dream extended over 90 minutes.
Anyway the following poem was inspired by a dream I had yesterday at work where this beautiful girl was chasing me around, a common them for me, with a bottle of Faygo Blueberry Soda telling me that she had to have my soul and Faygo was a conduit.


Ode to Joy

The steel bars of the factory,
That imprison my body and self,
Are impervious to even a Buddhist,
Or those with Buddy Christ on a shelf.

Airplanes, Airplanes, Helicopters!
Flight away cannot happen,
Some of the janitors pass the time,
Out side the building, rapping.

5 days a week, must get paid.
No matter what the price.
The colour scheme is irrelevant,
National Security in one slice.

No more crayons,
Not even a pen.
The message is spoken,
Crude like a drunk Errol Flynn.

Climbing to the top,
Of the highest building at the time.
Did not assure freedom,
A lie in Kong's mind.

Hand sanitizer.
Waterless glow.
Bacteria will infect,
The cure I bestow.

Tylenol 4.
Only through prescription,
Not at the store.

Canadian Ham,
Pieces of Bacon.

Screams of the awakened.

Today it was almost zero in the great city of Battle Creek. Cold my friends.

George McFly won the battle of the schizoid Crispin Glover rather easily and now he's looking to move into Battle Dome glory.

Captain Jack Sparrow won his first round match but didn't have a strong showing. He looks to fix that problem in this match.

Uh.... McFly had the kid with the Delorian, right? The other guy is a pirate... Well let's see here. Ok... I got it....

I'm gonna take a picture of both those guys and set them on the floor. I will then set my cat, Cody, in front of them and see which one he pukes up a hairball on. Whichever one the cat doesn't puke on will be my pick...

Well, Cody didn't puke on either picture... Actually he did it in my shoe, much to my chagrin... So I'll just have to go with Sparrow cuz he's got a sword and a boat and would beat George's shaak anyway...

Jon:

That's true... Marty taught his Dad how to take down Biff, but Sparrow killed and maimed lots of people long before Darth Vader told George he was going to melt his brain. Cody says hellow, btw.... He's chewing on the carpet again.


Salty:

I Cody, but McFly wins this easily.

Satan was dominant in his regular season match-up and he expect to end the age old battle between good and evil in the ToC.

Morgan Freeman probably is God and he'll need to be on his guard in this match. He had trouble with Alanis in the regular season and seeks to turn his fortunes around against the dark prince.

It's gotta be Morgan Freeman. He's so damn smooth. I think he's Lando's uncle or something. Plus, who knew God had such a great sense of humor?

I say Dairy Queen will win, I mean who can resist ice cream

That's true, it does show you who you don't want to talk to, but sometimes the Caller ID Box can't tell you who the person is that is calling. Dairy Queen never leads you astray.


Salty:

It might not lead you astray, but it can cause your hips to get wider and wider.
