In BoBF, the “goons” have these impenetrable shields that also shock you, as well as shock batons, and they catch Boba at unawares. I think it was dumb of Boba to walk around without much protection, but I don’t think the dynamics of the two fights you’re comparing reveal inconsistencies. Not to mention that the “goons” on Mos Espa seem to be very highly-trained assassin types (who are prepared for Boba’s arsenal by bringing shields and hop around rooftops with ninja ease). They are clearly portrayed as much more skilled fighters than the normal stormies.

Which begs the question... why didn't Boba use his jetpack?
Why would Boba even try to shoot a wrist rocket in that shield right in front of him, at arm's length? The whole action sequence was dumb beyond belief.

But then again, it was the same in Rodriguez's Boba Fett episode in The Mandalorian. Din Djarin takes off his jetpack for no reason, and never puts it on, despite having remote controls for it on his wrist. He just forgets about it. He forgets about it, so Grogu could get kidnapped and Din Djarin would not be there in time to save him. Maybe it's just Favreau's writing, but action sequences were just as silly nonetheless.

It is true that the scene is rather poorly executed. Why isn't Boba using his Jetpack? Why do the Gamoreans disappear between two shots?
The thing is, this is all done to show us that Boba was right to spare the Gamorreans. And a pretext for Boba to return to his bacta tank to continue the flashbacks.
All this could have been better constructed, yeah. But we will have the opportunity to see Boba kicking ass in the next episodes.
Just enjoy and give the show a chance

The The Book of Boba Fett premiere apparently drew a larger audience than the Hawkeye premiere, so we can at least put the "it flopped" nonsense, that some parts of the internet have claimed, to rest.

Ever seen Luke's force kick or the entire Snoke throne room fight? I'd say that's Star Wars.

That's the beauty of art, it is subjective. I thought it belonged in Clash of the Titans or maybe some modern Mortal Kombat movie/game.
I get that it was probably some sort of homage to Ray Harryhausen, but as he had nothing to do with SW I thought it was completely out of place.
Just curious to see if anyone feels as I do on this particular creature?

I liked the creature, reminded me of the bizarre bosses we would encounter in those old 16-bit Super Star Wars games. Plus anything that adds more creature diversity in the Star Wars universe I am all for.

Tatooine is a very dangerous place.

I think people are overthinking the bacta tank.

My idea is that it’s playing a role in what Boba is doing and where they’re taking the character. Like perhaps Boba has known or at least suspected he’s on borrowed time since before ROTJ which contributed to his spice addiction hinted at in The Mandalorian. Basically he knew he was dying so he stopped taking care of himself which led to his embarrassment at the Sarlacc. Now let’s say that his experience with the Tuskens have given him a new lease on life. He gets accepted into the tribe and is finally at peace until the tribe is wiped out leaving only Boba alive. And perhaps the present storyline is a Yojimbo situation where Boba is setting it up so the criminal elements on Tatooine destroy themselves. Meanwhile he takes on this young girl as a protege and passes on his armor to her before going out in a blaze of glory at the end of the series.

I didn't like it. I hope the creature fights are kept to a minimum for the rest of the season.

I didn’t like it either, way too anthropomorphic for a “monster” in Star Wars. If it was a sentient character with dialogue and its face wasn’t so busted then maybe it would have worked, idk. But didn’t feel right to me as I watched it.

It felt no different from the other monsters. I already think all these shows rely on monsters to much. This one looked interesting.

-Loved the episode, especially the early flashbacks to Tipoca City and the Geonosis Execution Arena.

-I thought the Mayor's aide was played by Crispin Glover, which would have been a neat surprise, but alas it wasn't him.

-Since when is Mos Espa surrounded by a mountain ridge? Maybe we just never saw it from that angle in TPM and AOTC.

-the fight scene in the streets could have been handled much better. It took me right out of the scene why Boba didn't just fire up his jetpack and disposed of his opponents. Had they launched the surprise attack by straight away electrocuting his jetpack would have helped the scene.

-Those assassins' outfits, especially the chest-plating reminded me of Zam Wesell's.

-loved the Ray Harryhausen dune creature- perfect fit for the Star Wars universe.

The Super Nintendo version of Tatooine in Super ANH and Super ROTJ came to my mind as well. The dune sea is as alive as any sea.

I mean, it's just a line. Nothing implied that he is a spice addict. Lots of people in Star Wars know that spice is a drug.
Just as when people say "Are you high?" does not necessarily mean they know what its like to be high or that they are drug addicts.

He'd be doing so without his helmet and leaving Fennec more vulnerable, even briefly.

Very likely he was trying to create an opening.

Din takes off his jetpack because Boba asks him to, so Fennec stands down and they can all have a chat. Yes, Din later neglects it; he also tries three times to get to Grogu through the barrier. He's having tunnel vision and just wants to get the two of them out of there.

I understand not liking certain things, but I'd rather rationalize them than play Monday-morning quarterback.

Vader has to use a bacta tank regularly doesn't he? I guess there could be lots of internal problems caused by fire or digestive acid.

Anyway, the bacta tank stuff is probably more symbolic than functional, for us as an audience. Like, a time to remind us of the necessity of healing/rebirth/regrouping for the character.
