There was zero build up to Skad's character being a good shot, and so it was incredibly stupid to have a focused. cheesy moment like that in the episode. All we knew about him up to that point is that he's good at riding a Vespa slowly, hanging out at spaceports, and using payphones. Suddenly he's a top-line gunslinger with the confidence to do show his talent off with a useless spin flourish, and the result is just...a pretty embarrassing scene. One of the worst Star Wars moments since Disney bought the company.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Maul have both pulled some good tricks of their own despite whatever tactical uselessness they may offer. Yet I've never seen any performative hysteria over such minor moments.

Because they were a Jedi and a Sith Lord, not a kid who rides a slow Vespa, and that hasn't previously been portrayed as a good shot. That's quite an inapt comparison there.

Not to mention that plenty of Star Wars fans criticized the flashiness of those fights.

Rodriguez makes Star Wars look really cheap. There's a consensus on that. And this was a comically clear example of that.

Nah, that's just a personal bias.

You don't like it, and that's fine. Not gonna belabor it. Harmless fun I say!

A consensus doesn’t imply nobody likes his episodes. Just that there seems to be a clear majority that don’t (with The Tragedy being an exception). Whatever. I actually think that’s pretty much the last we’ll see of him playing in the Star Wars sandbox. So no big deal.

People often confuse cultural relativism with subjective relativism. In other words, taste isn't 100% subjective because we are all coming from cognitive shaping forces that are universal in Western cultures, but also bio-genetic. For example, brains perceive reality in universal ways that create "universal taste."

So while sometimes people disagree, our disagreements are usually overstated because most people respond to the effects of entertainment in similar, predictable ways.

And the narrative techniques have evolved in response to human cognition, so if a director fails to direct well, we really can say they failed to effect their audience.

Meh, Skad is a minor character with his own flair. It's not like Boba Fett was doing a dance off with Cad Bane like a bantha.

There's a great one in TPM, where Obi-Wan nonchalantly walks up to a battledroid, does a half-hearted spin for no reason, and slices it in two. I laugh/cringe every time I see it.

Also, people criticizing the spin aren't hysterical. You are attempting to belittle people you disagree with. You say it's harmless fun, and that's fine. Others find it silly, and badly choreographed, and that is also fine.

Didn't follow the leaks but where on the timeline is the story? Is it possible that Maul will show up or is this after Maul got killed in Rebels?

The timeline can be made to fit but it would be a bit of a shoehorn in. It would be a bit of gymnastics to make it fit with Rebels and Maul not knowing that Obi-wan lived. That said, it could be done so that Maul is about to face Obi-wan and Vader shows up, incapacitates Maul and Maul watches as Obi-wan arrives and then duels Vader but Maul is so incapacitated he doesn't know the result of the fight. This would be difficult to pull off in a satisfactory way that didn't feel pure fan service or cameo shoehorning.

I've finally had a third viewing, and I'm giving this a 9. With everything said about the episode (for better or worse), it was nice to have some time away and come back fresh, and I still had a great time watching.

I don't find the action as repetitive now, and I actually like a lot of the shots. Speaking of which, I also like this bit of contrast on the titular theme.
"If you'd do me the honor of letting me pass..."

Fennec's run-down on positioning could've been omitted, but I do like the shots of the different areas with the Mods riding through. In Boba's second confrontation with Bane, there's a couple of head-on shots and, maybe because of the lighting, I can see an expression of vulnerability in the helmet. I think Bane himself is even more effective in this episode than in the previous one. It's likely from being more expressive, but this really solidified my liking of him in live action.

I also enjoy the majordomo's part. At least through the 'negotiation', his humor lands really well for me. In a way, he reminds me of Hondo in his ability to take things in stride. On another note, I like the mention of his accent and the context for why he doesn't have it now.

I didn’t expect the finale to be one of the season’s worst episodes. Anyone else a little surprised at how bad it was?

No, don’t agree…it was the third best episode after 5 and 6.
Despite some inverosímil stuff like Wolverine Krrsantan or bling stuff like the twisting shooter, it had some great moments and elements: Mando back, both fighting together, the Rancor was amazing, and the duel with Bane was pretty good.
I do not think is possible since Maul meets Obi Wan only by the end of Rebels, close to BOY, and the Kenobi show is 9 years before.
But even if they could, Vader is confirmed, it would be too much.
Plus, please they have to keep Maul dead

When I first saw that shot, as fast as it was, I really thought it was the ESB bounty hunters. (without IG-88)

I went in with an open mind..but after 5 and 6...without Boba...turned out to be the best episodes I really did not have high expectations for the finale after feeling that 1-4 did not deliver on a good story.

I agree, although Black Krrysantan suddenly being indestructible was annoying too, as was Fett continuing to look incompetent.
