I don't remember any mention of that.

And it was officially said in an interview (at that time) that the illustrator of the book cover of "Vision of the Future" made a mistake with the eyes of Thrawn.

Chiss in SW:TOR have got 100% red yes, and the continuity of the game keeps going. But I guess Rebels version will trump that in Disney's new canon.

Saganu in SWTOR looks a lot like Thrawn, I'm glad I made an agent and she had a little kiss :p

    TOR isn't /really/ canon, though.

Right, hence my comment that the Rebels version might end up retconning that. But my point was that TOR is being continued. New stories/updates are being released (like Knights of the Fallen Empire). So there's still 100% red-eyed Chiss around at present.

I believe they would look like the Rebels depiction of Thrawn with lighter skin tone :p

No idea where I should categorize this so this seemed like a safe bet, but basically, the deal is, I kind of just want to explore developing how the heck Cheunh works because there's only vague information given in canon, and some stuff I've found in my searches of that which other people have come up with for it- but there's very little on the grammatical aspects of it.

Honestly, my interest started just a few days ago simply because I decided to make a character who is Chiss, and then I started researching into their language because I realized they wouldn't be likely to know much Basic, and...I'm intrigued by what there is of it. And I want to have more about it, partially just for the sake of knowing how the way that language works would affect the /way/ that my character would speak when learning Basic, since the mistakes you make in learning one language typically have something to do with where it's different from your native language. And I'm super into all this stuff, I guess.

My searches have turned up a few things; there's the Coruscant Translator (http://starwars.myrpg.org/coruscant_translator.php) but that would have the same issue as Google Translate generally does: its translations are literal.

Real languages will have different ways of phrasing things, different sentence structures, etc. And good old wookiepedia (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Cheunh) mentions "agglutinative features" of the language- and man, my knowledge on that is pretty limited (as much as I'd probably like to, I've yet to study language stuff very extensively, sorry). But what I get about it is pretty cool, and I guess that's a basis in terms of how to get an idea of how syntax would work.

Another thing I've found useful (but I'm not really sure where it's coming from- the link the post provided doesn't take you to anything related, so for all I know some people could've developed this whole thing already but it's no longer accessible) is this: http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=10786.0
That post gives some detail about adding suffixes to words to convey a meaning, and I have no idea where the words given are from (I know some is from the canon listed on wookiepedia but it's definitely not all of it).

TL;DR - Anyone up to help me screw around and try to construct a grammatical system for Cheunh? Or at least find if anyone else has begun to do that?

I don't like Chiss with pupils. From Thrawn's first appearance he had an aura of creepiness; Pupils make Chiss too human. My headcanon for the existence of pupils is these Chiss are, in D&D terms, 'half-Chiss'.

Depends upon your head cannon, but generally in the Legends they were labled as such. Then again anything humanoid without too outrages horns, or extra limbs or eyes was considered near human. Even Zabrak were if I remember correctly.

I'm pretty sure it was implied Chiss were once human colonists who developed their unique features due to isolation.

That was lies and Imperial propaganda! A slant against us non-human members! :p

As you can see in my head cannon that was lies and balderdash, the Chiss are far too special in my mind to be something so common.

What were they then? Such a perfect replica of humanity is insanely unlikely. They absolutely have to be related. Chiss are genetically identical, save for skin and eye color. Why should they be separate?
