Don't listen to him! He's just trying to misdirect you to prevent spoilers about the season finale from getting out where Plo Koon thanks Janu Godalhi for saving his life!

I'm really hoping they stick to the original Grievous story. The new one (where he turns himself into a cyborg) seems to shallow to me. But I'm a diehard Grievous fan. The bright side is, we get to see some pwnage from him. I hope.

You know, I never took the time to realize how well-designed Grievous is until now. Looking at those pictures at the beginning of the thread, he is really a beautifully threatening, creepy looking villain. I gotta give credit to whoever designed him. Despite my initial disappointment in the character, he is designed every bit as well as the "classic" villains like Vader, Maul, and Fett.

I don't want to get an anti-Lucas rant going(ROTS being my favorite Star Wars movie, after all), but it's interesting to see how George really dropped the ball as far as Grievous' portrayal. He was just never really put into a position where an audience could say "whoa. That guy is BA". The locations, the lighting, the animation/choreography...none of it really did justice to how well-designed the character is.

I'm looking forward to tonight's episode. I've never seen Ghost In The Shell, so I'm not familiar with this director. But I think it's cool to have a director who will bring some legitimate anime sensibilities to the show.

I totally understand what you mean and i agree but i do have to say that it really wasn't Lucas's fault as much as it was a thousand other factors because his character (while great and well done) was always set up from the beginning to get killed before the middle of ROTS like he did and was also made late in production of the movie to trade places with Dooku who was originally going to fill the same story responsibility's. Also there was a lot of confusion over the fact that the genndy clone wars cartoon (and lots of other EU) made him look like a totally different character because they didn't know anything about him yet.

I think that after all is said and done the character of Grievous works best in the clone war and in ROTS he didn't need to really terrorize anyone because of how much the movie built up his "reputation" for being such a big part of the war.

Getting more acquainted with Grievous here in the Clone Wars will no doubt make his appearances in ROTS that much more powerful on my next viewing. I'm tempted not to watch ROTS again until this series is over (or at least between seasons) to see if I can enjoy certain aspects now that I know certain characters differently.

I agree, someone said that the CW Visual Guide mentions his shuttle crash so hopefully they'll stick to that part of the backstory....yes, it does seem shallow, but considering I've also been without Grievous pwnage for quite some time I'm totally looking forward to tonight's episode.

And the artwork in the webcomic is awesome! Kudos to the artist!:D

I didn't mean that I wanted to see Grievous to slaughter a bunch of jedi or anything. I understand his role in the story.

I just meant, like, in terms of lighting and mannerisms and stuff. There's a great shot in Downfall of a Droid where Grievous walks in and out of a shadowed area. As he steps into the shadow, a tiny bit of light reflects off of his eyes, making them "glow". It is a very cool shot, and makes Grievous seem somewhat scary, even though he's not really "doing" anything. ROTS could have used something like that.

Still, like you said, there are thousands of factors that go into this kind of thing.

Well, he should have killed Shaak Ti, for one thing.

But the Obi-Wan vs. Grievous fight - that was some of the best computer graphics I've ever seen. Grievous was a very ambitious character and I think they did a great job.

Design-wise, I clearly remember my girlfriend literally gasping out loud in awe when Grievous first appeared in Ep3. That's high praise.

Hmm... I'm disappointed in the OS as the episode guide for this episode hasn't been posted yet. As a national of a country where the series isn't being aired (there haven't been a single word anywhere) and where it's not available anywhere else either, I find those episode guides especially important. I also think the OS/Cartoon Network could be a little more forthcoming to those of us who live in such countries.

Oh yes, that's right... I mixed up the dates (we've had a semi-holiday here). So sorry about that. I did not intend to rant about it either. [face_blush]

I?m glad the creators are addressing the fact that Grievous has failed so much lately, and that the Separatist Leadership are disappointed in him.

QFT. It pains me that that scene was cut.

I disliked Grievous ever since I saw the toys for him but I figure if they are going to make him an important character then make it worthwhile. Make a character like that and you should go big or go home, not out with a whimper.

Lol at the Lucas kool-aid drinkers. How are Grievous' flaws not Lucas' fault? For one thing, he decided to give him that goofy cough and even provided it himself.

You should hear what Ben Burtt thought about that.

I don't mind the coughing, it's really no worse than Vader's asthamatic breathing.:p

That's ironic, coming from someone with a Boba Fett icon :p

They both share a flaw, actually. Too well designed for only being plot catalysts destined to die.

Where did you hear that about Grevious replacing Dooku's story responsibilities? That actually would have really been interesting to see Palpy betray Dooku by sending Anakin's master to kill his apprentice while he seduce Anakin back home.

This episode was AWESOME! Just as great as the last nine! I love the reference to Obi-Wan finishing off the Acklay from Episode II in here, where Fisto finishes off Gorr. And it was awesome to see Yoda, Mace Windu, and the interior of the Jedi Council!

The next new episode looks AMAZING!

Fun little episode, even if it was pretty much 100% predictable.

Am I correct in thinking that's the first Jedi to die on screen in the series? So, I guess for that loss of innocence it's good for something.

When does this re-air? I couldn't watch it, due to my mother having a need to watch Drake & Josh.

Poor Gor, he was such a good Roggwart. :_|

Ok, well, the episode wasn't the epitome of awesomeness as I had been expecting, but it was still good.

Personality-wise, I enjoyed the little touches they give to Grievous such as his feeling towards his pet and the general style of his fortress, but I feel he is being defeated far too easily by the Jedi. When he lost his legs, that was understandable since he was somewhat restrained, but losing another arm so soon to Kit was a little much. Perhaps this is all leading up to the beginning of some on-screen training of Grievous in lightsaber skills by Dooku, but we shall see.

As I alluded to above, I enjoyed the design of the episode and it's setting. Very moody. Very forboding. I was also a HUGE fan of Dr. Droid (loved the general design principles of the EV Supervisor Droid with him), but like Argyus, I wish they wouldn't kill off new Separatist characters so quickly! At least for Dr. Droid, his head could potentially be reattached.

As for our former Padawan turned Knight, Nadarr, I liked the character overall, but I wish we would have gotten more time with him. Introduce him earlier in the series/season and let us see a progression of his attitude throughout the war and THEN kill him. I understand that there are limitations in this form of story-telling, but still, I didn't really feel anything when he was turned into fish sticks. I hadn't been given any reason to really connect with the character.

Over all, an enjoyable episode... nothing outstanding, but not horrible. The major downfall was probably my own fault since I have been internally hyping this episode for myself ever since I learned about it.

EDIT: I was just thinking about this, but did Dr. Droid's voice sound something like a mix of Groucho Marx and MASH's Hawkeye Pierce to anyone else?
