ral must have a EP.2 DVD that has more deleted scenes then ours does lol. Maybe Dooku was dressed up as a sand person tho... did anyone think of that? [face_thinking] [face_shame_on_you] [face_laugh]

Well, actually, Dooku revealing that he arranged for the death of his mother is a deleted scene, lol.

I remember back in the day when there was talk that Dooku arranged his mother's death. I'm glad it never made it to film, as it's way too convoluted. But it's fun to think about.

Are there any Indiana Jones fans out there? The senator definitely looks to be carrying a Staff of Ra. Pretty cool.

Hmm... Dooku does use the term 'godforsaken' in this episode. [face_thinking] Perhaps Tanis is nearby and Dooku got captured so he could have a chance to claim the Ark of the Covenant for the Separatists.

i wouldn't be so sure of that. he still wound up with what he needed from the pirates - a getaway ship. i think the spice was also on the ship he stole too but i could be wrong about that. so what happened to ahmed best? the new jar jar voice took me completely by surprise. i really didn't think the new voice fit jar jar as well as best's does. i think the darker parts of this episode (the torture scene and when dooku uses the force choke) were put in to counter jar jar's silliness, which i thought worked well in the context of the episode. not my favorite episode but i still enjoyed it. the banter between dooku/anakin/and obi-wan was fun. i'm looking forward to seeing Aayla Secura next week.

I read the Making of ROTS book. They said that in the earlier screenplays, Dooku was to reveal that he did arrange for the death of Shmi, leading to Anakin killing him in anger during the duel. But it was written out. The Sand People did it. End of story.

What did Dooku accomplish if he got himself caught on purpose?

ROTS still implies that Palpatine/Dooku may have had something to do with it. Just because it was not used in the theatrical cut doesn't mean it's impossible.

I love Star Wars, and I love TCW's. So much so that I can overlook A LOT of plot holes. And this episode is no different.

But the two things I can't understand are these:

    1) As stated above, the online comic showed that Obi-Wan and Anakin were indeed drugged, but not by the drink (which was somewhat contridicted in this episode)... a problem w/ me but I can get over it.

    2) However... WHERE DID OBI-WAN GET HIS LIGHTSABER!!!!!!

I've only watched the episode once so I may have missed it, but someone tell me where. The pirate captian told the Republic 'no weapons', the Jedi were checked when entering the compound, and Anakin retrieved HIS at the end. But where in the world did Obi-Wan conjur HIS.

Please someone shead some light on this for me.

(and no 'it was hidden on his body' comments, if so he would have used it to escape earler)

    Thanks.

One question. Didn't Anakin and Obi go there unarmed in last week's episode? All the pirates had in their posession was Anakin's and Dooku's lightsaber. So how the heck did Obi-Wan get his lightsaber???

    (Yeah, that's two questions...bugger off!) :p

After 10 episodes of really good CW, these past two were my least favorites. I'll even put the movie ahead of these two episodes. These two felt like some company trying to imitate TCW instead of it coming from Filoni and Co. This is a fail for me.

Really looking forward to Aayla next week, tho.

And the less said about Jar Jar and that so-called "acting", the better.

After getting rescued from the Gundarks + Gas by the Clones and Ahsoka... they were back in the fleet. I'd imagine he tried to repair it there...

Fine if Obi-Wan repaired it on the ship, but why did it wait unitl the 'deaus ex machina' moment to have it magicaly appear?

(no comments on my poor spelling of latin please)

I will say this: the part at the end, where Dooku uses a force choke and has the pirate shoot the other...that was gravy! [face_devil]

    The rest of this episode...meh.

Hey Star Wars fans, I'm StarWars_enthusaists and I just joined and thought I might do good by posting my first message under The Clone Wars: "The Gungan General" thread board.

Here's my review on the episode...

Well I just got done watching the episode "The Gungan General" and I got to say this episode was pretty well done. This cross over to a 'part 2' of last week's episode really felt more a continuation than the Malevolence series for me.

Now first of all to start it out, the voicing of Jar Jar Binks was pretty bad. The horse voice add-on to the original, nearly annoying voice of Jar Jar completely threw me away from even really caring for the character and all. I don't want to stand out as a Jar Jar hater, but this Jar Jar was just plain annoying. His comments 'yousa were in bombad trouble'. Hello there's fighting around you and you know that jedi have been captured...come on...there's trouble and from his experience if those two things are together, there probably something that has to do with jedi.

But as a drawback from my rambling about how i didn't like about this episode...I have to say everything else was great. The interation between Obi-Wan, Anakin and Count were basically just as I expected it to be. They first didn't want to speak, they help each other and respect each other, 'some what" and ended out to being at the same level they started out.

Clone pilots...now why are always the one's to die first...come on. Oddball doesn't die I know that, but I would like to actually have some interations with the pilot through a whole episode then what we've been getting. We see them, talk to them, they alert us, crash and bye bye...come on. Lets get some space battle or something that actually includes some of the finest pilots of the GAR.

The fight scenes...I myself as a writer began to wonder how they were going to pull off a 'stubbling idiot' leading a clone squad, and interjecting them into a fight sequence and they actually pull it out at the end and win the day. And they did great. The fights seemed to last as long as they needed to and didn't require much stalling to delay that action. Great job to the writers!

Dooku was great and the ending of him choking the guy and forcing him to shoot his own buddy was just exactly what a sith lord would do. And I thought that was great. But did the ending just like abruptly end or what? I was sitting on the couch, taking notes I look up and bam...it's over. Just like that. Let's get a real ending that doesn't just stop; as if we hit a frikken wall head on and were knocked out.

I rate this episode in my 6th on my Top 10 list, but none higher than that.

    Thanks,
    StarWars_enthusaists

Erm, well... the fortune cookie *did* start with the word "fail"...

Actually, this was just like last week for me: awesome and lame in almost equal parts. There were a lot of great bits living side by side with an equal amount of nonsense. The "feel" of both episodes was more dead on SW than usual, which was good; the plot was way thinner than usual, which was... less good. Maybe it would've made a better three-parter; they probably didn't want to spend three weeks on the same planet, but I wouldn't have minded that in exchange for connecting a few more of the plot dots.

Had to love the Weequay, though (thanks for pegging the Ricardo Montalban thing!) and Dooku's escape was nice!

Did I miss some kind of explanation of how Jar Jar and the clones can overtake swoop bikes by riding those rhino-armadillo things? Was the spice really heavy or something?

Yah, where did it come from?

Obi Wan and Anakin didn't bring theirs with them so the only lightsabers that should have been on the planet were the ones Dooku brought with him: his own (red) and the one he stole from Anakin in the Gundark cave (blue).

At the end of the episode when Obi Wan and Anakin are holding Hondo prisoner they have two ignited blue lightsabers.

    ???

Exactly, if the lightsaber that Ben had was Dooku's, I'd be fine w/ it, and just assume they found it on the way out. But not only was it blue, it was HIS (hilt design and everyting)

Don't get me wrong, I love this segment to the SW universe, and it's great to see the Clone Wars finaly play out as I've been waiting for since I was a kid. But this was somthing that sould have been caught during the frist draft!

There's no implying whatsoever that either Palpatine or Dooku was involved in Shmi's death.

It would have been stated outright if they were.

That's where the meaning of the word "imply" comes in, and how it differs from the meaning of "stated outright".

But it's not implied, either. It's not even touched upon. There is just no evidence in the movies to indicate that it could have even happened.

Back on topic...you guys are good at spotting plot holes. I didn't even catch that there is no way Obi should have his saber. D'oh! Now it's going to bug me every time I watch this episode. Thanks a lot, ruiners!

Merely Palpatine being ruthless and involved in a huge conspiracy to take over the galaxy.

    Just that.

    Thoughts as I go:

    - so if you didn't watch last week's, it looked like they drank the poison wine...

    - "I did warn you those pirates were devious..." (you also said stupid)

    - why didn't Dooku kill them why they were out?

    - "god-forsaken planet" - o rly?

    - "as my sweet mother said" ha ha ha that was good

    - gotta admit I laughed at Jar-Jar's "hidey ho", it reminded me of Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo.

    - must be hard to knock down the Senate ship with no depth perception. ;)

    - okay, "control your insolence, the Count is concentrating", might be the best line of the entir series, except "open this door and I'll buy you a planet!" =D=

    - Jar-Jar sounds weird.

    - so the guy that does the pirate voices does the clone voices, am I right?

    - looks like the Mind Tricked pirate only needed a little convincing to go drinking. [face_laugh]

    - look at those Morbidly Obese Monsters move!

    - okay, 2/3 of the way through, this episode is far better than I expected.

    - only problem is, why would the Republic send an army if they don't know Anakin and Obi-Wan are being held hostage as well? Unless Our Heroes didn't send a message when they were supposed to or something.

    - ah, the Jar-Jar accidental super-savior destruction. I knew it would happen....but the badass Dooku strangulation makes up for it.

    - YES AWESOME DOOKU BADNESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! FORCE CHOKE + FORCE GRIP = [face_devil]

    - "and he knows where you live".

Okay, Jar-Jar was bearable, but still didn't need to be in there. I actually liked the Clones interaction with him.

But let's talk about how amazing the Obi-Wan/Anakin/Dooku scenes were.

I think this episode may have had the best script of the series.
