It was "The Longest Day." It's the French charge at Ouistreham.

    Great stuff

Finally had a spare half hour to watch this.

    Thoughts as I go:

    - okay, the huge number of destroyers coming in from hyperspace was already awesome

    - Ki-Adi looks a little strange but I guess it works. Stiff, mostly.

    - good banter between Obi-Wan and Anakin. This is what I wanted to see more of in the PT.

    - "several humongous monsters". Awesome. =D=

    - wow, this is looking almost as good as AOTC!

    - "Good thing those bugs can't aim" - nice one, but I think they should have waited another second or two before blowing the ship out.

    - I'm loving the POV shots from the trooper with the laser cannon - brings me back to Jedi Knight and all the other video games :-B

    - "brace yourselves!" in what is basically a flying subway car? [face_laugh]

    - yeah, the "luck" line doesn't really fit from what he said before, I'm just assuming he's saying luck because he's talking to the clone, rather than Admiral Yularen.

    - so....why did they have the Y-Wings out? Didn't really notice them in the battle, and obviously they didn't help with the anti-aircraft fire.

    - I liked the dialogue between Anakin and Ahsoka, but it would have been nice to hear a "focus! Use the Force" or something similar. Ahsoka needs to learn HOW TO BE A JEDI.

    - nice military strategy. "Let's run up to the wall and stare at it!" ;)

    - ha ha ha poor Rex! Although I thought that was a little far for even a Jedi to fall.

    - did Yularen say "You're out of luck, General Skywalker. I have one squadron available?"

    - cool long shot of the Anakin squad's attack.

    - was that an Acklay on Mundi's ship?

    - pretty decent script overall in this one. Action was amazing for a 22-minute cartoon show, I can't wait to watch this on DVD.

Not my favorite episode, but some great action and interesting looks at war.

Or better yet, have episodes which show consequences of war, not endless Anakin/Obi-Wan save the day episodes..

This episode had such a great atmosphere. Now I really want the first Battle of Geonosis from AOTC to be a little enriched. I know it's a very main character driven battle, given the urgency to catch Dooku, but I guess it could do with a couple of in-battle moments without spreading out the important aspects of the finale too far.

Wasn't it kinda weird that Obi Wan in response to Cody asking about what he missed with the first Battle and Obi Wan said something along the lines of "nothing apart from me being tied to a pole fighting humongous monsters". Wouldn't it have been a fitting moment to mention the Jedi that were lost in the execution arena battle?

Anyway, too many awesome moments to mention.

I don't agree that there was "very little story" in this episode. I thought Obi-Wan's weariness of both the war and his former padawan (and that former padawan's padawan) were incredible story points that were deftly subtle.

This episode was just awesome. One of the best of the entire series. It had that same "war" feeling Space 2063 (one of the best SciFi war stories ever) did in their best episodes...

For the kill count: it's droids. Ahsoka clearly says at one point, that they ARE counting droids. It's normal for war, and a coping mechanism... So what? Every droid they take out won't kill another clone. They are accepting the Geonosians surrender, after all.

Also, the episode had some brilliant undertones, like in the beginning, with Palpatine's "is this really necessary?" Why would he have doubts about sending three Jedi in one place where they will likely be killed (since obviously he gave the battle plans to the separatists)? Because he does not want Anakin to die - which also might be an explanation for why Anakin makes such a great hero in this war: Because his battles are often rigged and he is not sabotaged as the other Jedi are.

Whenever I watch an episode such as this, I keep going back to one of the features on the ROTS DVD... In that, Ewan McGregor sees his new styling and make-up for the movie for the first time and is quite shocked how much his character has aged. "This is only two years after the last one? Must have been on he** of a two years." Episodes as this serve to illustrate this point very clearly. That's what? His fourth injury in 6 months? And that's only the physical aspect... His reminiscence of the events of AOTC shows not all of the damage is physical, either.

Here, suddenly being wounded is serious (as it was with Anakin in Jedi Crash), is very unusual for a cartoon. And I like that, it is treating the war seriously and makes the attemptsat levity suddenly... creepy.

I remain amazed at the sheer brilliance of this series. Carry on, please.

Finally watched part of the episode today. caught it about halfway through when they assault the gate, and I have got to say, it was flipping awesome.

The best part was the princess leia clones with Mundi charging through the caves torching bugs. It really reminded me of Aliens when Vasquesz and her partner start torching the aliens.

Having watched the longest day, I did notice the reference in this episode. It was okay, but it just didn't feel right with this show's style. The way The Longest Day portrays the charge, it is a long, slow slog with hundreds of soldiers practically pouring out of the woodwork of the town and trying desperately not to get shot. It just doesn't feel right in TCW, because every character runs like they were an olympic sprinter in this show.

I guess I'll have to wait until Teletoon.com posts the full episode to catch the actual landing sequence, but from what I have seen, this was a great episode.

So yeah, I had to wait for it to be posted on video streaming sites and couldn't enjoy it earlier. Good thing it was WELL worth the wait. XD

This was an EPIC episode chock full of action that could very well rival anything the movies care to throw at us, in my opinion. I liked the character moments, too, as a nice little aside, and Ki-Adi-Mundi's debut, while understated, is still very good at establishing him as a badass Jedi. When he topped Anakin's kill count, I got the vibe of a cross between a British gentleman and an awesome kung fu master. More so than Obi-Wan. XD

Yularen's responding to the clones seemed almost like one of those 'please hold your call is important to us' responses, but it sort of suited his personality. Looks like only Skywalker can ruffle his feathers. [face_laugh]

And a wall....of LASERS? Logic can go jump into a black hole for all I care, that is just the sort of AWESOME construct I'd want to see. It's like something some brilliantly INSANE person would build in a defensive construction game. XD

Also...WAXER AND BOIL YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Like they said...guess they were the best. :p

Welcome to the favorite episodes list, Landing at Point Rain. Your only competition is Cargo of Doom. :D

I can also see that this is sparking some debate about the actions of the Jedi...in a sense, isn't that a sign of 'maturity' in the show, that they can bring its viewers into such trains of thoughts? Like, uh...Batman or the Justice League. :p
The kill count wasn't too bad, but in retrospect it does seem a little off unless it's a sign of some things going wrong in the Jedi. I do agree that it would be suitable as a coping mechanism for characters like Anakin and Ahsoka, though perhaps a word like 'scrap' count might work.

It's true that the deaths of the Geonosians might have been taken a tad lightly, but then again, this is Star Wars war (lulz redundant)...attitude aside, I don't think the Jedi would be averse to taking what they can to defend the troops they care for against a clearly hostile opponent (did you see the Geonosians GRABBING the clones? Sick action, man!). The fact that they were still in a war zone can explain the lack of visible regret or contemplation. Anakin summed it up perfectly by saying that they had to be in the 'here and the now'.

Of course, that's not to say the war isn't doing terrible things to them, or that it's completely excusable. I just think that we can cut them some slack. ;)

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to mention one of the best little touches. If you didn't know that these guys would make it to episode 3, this episode would very well have you worrying about their fate. Heck, I was watching it and even I was starting to get worried about those Jedi in their highly explodable gunships. XD

I know this sort of doesn't matter but did anyone think Yualren was being a total jerk when he was talking to Jet? I just had that vibe. Yualren also called Jet "captain", which would be insulting if I was "Commander" Jet.

While the action may be strong in this episode, the dialogue is just plain weak. Not only Ki-Adi cannot make up his mind on "luck," Yularen called Jet "captain" and that contradicts the episode guide, which lists him as "Commander." Also, the banter between Obi-Wan and Cody in the beginning should have mentioned something about the Jedi's failure at the execution arena, and not his experience with the beasts. Some dialogue was pretty good, i.e. Luminara wanting to shut Obi-Wan and Anakin up in the beginning.

Completely disagree. Other than the Yularen "captain" mistake and Ki-Adi's inconsistency with "luck", I thought the script was spot on, and felt very Star Wars-y to me.

    - is this the most "strategy-heavy" SW of all time?

    - still don't get the critique that Obi-Wan should have mentioned the Jedi to fall at Geonosis. (a) SW has always had a fairly light tone to it, and (b) does he really want to bring his commander down right before they fly into battle?

Hudson: They're coming outta the walls. They're coming outta the goddamn walls. Let's book!

Gorman: Hicks, meet me at the south lock. We're coming in.
    Hicks: Roger.
Hudson: [to Vasquez] He's comin' in. I feel safer already.

Apone: All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? Another glorious day in the Corps! A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm. Every meal's a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade! I LOVE the Corps!

Hudson: Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?
    Vasquez: No. Have you?

Frost: Hot as hell in here.
Hudson: Yeah man, but it's a dry heat!

Hudson: Hey, maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events, but we just got our asses kicked, pal!

Hudson: That's it man, game over man, game over! What the ******** are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?
Burke: Maybe we could build a fire, sing a couple of songs, huh? Why don't we try that?

Vasquez: Look, man. I only need to know one thing: where they are.
    Drake: Go, Vasquez. Kick ass.
    Vasquez: Anytime, anywhere, man!
Hudson: Right, right. Somebody said "alien" she thought they said "illegal alien" and signed up!
    Vasquez: ************* you, man!
    Hudson: Anytime, anywhere.

Hudson: Maybe it's like an anthive?
Vasquez: Bees, man. Bees have hives!

Hudson: Come on! Come on! Come and get it, baby! Come on! I don't got all day! Come on! Come on! Come on you bastard! Come on, you too! Oh, you want some of this? *********** you!

Alright. BEST EPISODE EVER!!! THIS DEFINATELY MADE UP FOR SENATE SPY

    Pros:
    - Return to Geonosis
    - A mentioning of Dorin
    - Ki-Adi-Mundi's debut
    - A FULL SCALE INVASION ON GEONOSIS
    - The kill count was unnecessary, but entertaining nevertheless.
    - FLAMETHROWERS!!!
    -BUGS!!!

This list could go on, but I don't have all eternity to write this.

    Cons:
    - No Plo Koon or Grievous or Poggle (except for the intro)
    - Luminara only makes a cameo
    - To be honest, I don't really like the paint scheme of the ARF Troopers

    Comments:
    - At first, I thought Admiral Yularen would only appear in that scene where he wishes Mundi luck, it's nice to see him appear more. Also, he's still unusually calm like he was in Cargo of Doom.
    - In the commentary, I like how they connected the crew with Vader, Jerjerod and Palps.
    - WHERE THE HELL IS BACARA???
    - Referencing the movies a bit more, it's nice that they're not being completely ignored.

    Again, I must say:

    BEST. EPISODE. EVER. 10/10 ^_^

Best episode yet in terms of the intensity and scale of battle, no other episodes come close to this. This was the episode I was waiting for to see what they truly could do with Season 2 that they couldn't do with Season 1 - and it was even better than I expected. All those gunships, Clones, Geonosians and the animation and details on the character models was amazing.

This episode showed us more of the landing and ground action that was missing from AOTC - Jedi leading their clones into battle on foot, making use of their force powers as well as the firepower of the clones, etc. I liked how the Geonosians were portrayed in this episode, they were a genuine threat and something scary how Ki-Adi and his troops encountered them in the cave and they flew down, grabbed some clones and took off with them - this partly reminded me of the flying bugs in Starship troopers.

Truly great stuff. Even though I don't expect all episodes to be as action packed as this, but I do hope they get this increased quality of direction and production. Awesome stuff.

This episode has given me great hope what they could be able to pull off by the time Season 5 or so comes along and they show the events leading into Episode III - Grievous capturing palpatine, escaping with him while being pursued by Mace and other Jedi across Coruscant from building to building, maglev, and the space battle above Coruscant itself.

Yularen has definitely become an arrogant jerk this season, he was pretty much always in the right this episode, but that doesn?t make him any less of an imperial officer type, which I think is great.

Also, forgot to add, but I thought it was a nice touch that a few of the Gunships that were assigned to particular Jedi Generals were given identities of sorts. Such as Obi-Wan's having a Nexu on it and being called "Bad Kitty" and Ki-Adi's having a picture of a clone trooper head/skull with the name "Seperatist Nightmware". I've seen this in other movies or games where ships and tanks were given names such as "Independence", "Freedom", etc. Although, this is even cooler because they have a matching picture/icon to go with it. Would be awesome to see more of that, plus, in the heat of battle, you can more easily identify which Jedi are in which vehicle - as well as identify these vehicles in future episodes.

Yeah, that was a pretty cool touch...and yeah, I certainly got a Starship Troopers vibe with the Geonosians as well. Heck, those bugs can actually fight! :p And as for Yularen, I thought that diverting fighters to what would be the most important assualt on the planet would be a first priority, but I guess something else not known to us yet took precedence...or he was just being a jerk!:p

Even after all the extremely good reviews on this board, I was still stunned after having finally been able to watch this episode. Wow. OMG. Incredible.

Unlike many of you, I do like Ki's appearance on this series. Very CW-ish in my opinion. The luck thing was a bit stupid indeed, the only very small minor in this episode, which I find the best of all 27 episodes so far in the series.

I also really liked that in the end, Anakin takes over and tells to freakin Jedi Council Masters that he expects them to be back in combat when the main factory has been destroyed. I find this really depicts Anakin's rank within the Order, even though he's only a Knight. I also like that we have a valid reason for Luminara to take over from Ki and Obi-Wan in the next episode, not having just stay behind without a reason.

    10/10

I watched the episode again, and the person who pointed out that either Waxer or Boil has a small drawing of Numa on his helmet was correct! You see it quite clearly when the two of them rescue Obi-Wan from the downed gunship.

Also, I noticed that it isn't just the one gunship that has the identity/icon, it seems like there are a few of them. Obi-Wan and his troops crashed in a "Bad Kitty" gunship, but Cody landed safely in one too, and at the end when Ki-Adi arrives to backup Anakin at the end of the battle (and returns to the gunship with an injured Obi-Wan), it is another "Bad Kitty". So it seems they have created a fleet of each, and assigned a particular fleet to a particular Jedi General and his/her troops.

Would be interesting to see if they have or will create more fleets for different Jedi such as Anakin, Kit, Mace, Aayla, Plo. Mace definately needs one that screams of "badass mother ****er".

EDIT- you need to star the whole word out.

Absoultely fantastic episode. I expected something brilliant, but not at this scale!

I love how they keep blowing me away with each new episode. And this one had it all, from the action, to the drama and even the humor. Obi Wan's sarcasm really came out in this one, and Anakin and Ahsoka's bantering was funny as usual, while Ki Adi surprised me with one last jab at Anakin, which of course was rather heartwarming...considering how the war ends.

"My everlasting respect, Master Mundi." Anakin replies.

And perhaps one of my favorite moments among many was Anakin's last charge and just when you thought the battle was over. Those clones were actually keeping up!
