Just thought I'd let all the aussies on the board know that toys'r'us are taking preorders for Wii and PS3 and with a $50 deposit you'd get a free game at launch for either system. Just saw it in a catalogue yesterday.

Wii launch titles confirmed in Nintendo Power:

-The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
    -Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
-Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors
    -Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
    -Red Steel
    -Rayman Raving Rabbits

More expected to be added as we near launch, obviously.

It just wasn't confirmed by NP. I'd be shocked if it wasn't a launch title.

Also, it seems that Ubisoft has redone the way the wiimote handles the sword in Red Steel- before you did simple motions that translated into certain moves, but after hearing feedback, they've changed it so that it does mimic your hand motions like a real sword.

Some idiotic statement about how there can't be any next gen star wars games due to the PS2, X-box, and PC or something along those lines.

Its a noob. Just ignore him, and wait for the mods to use the banstick.

It should be interesting to see how the revised control scheme works out.

I think he means that all the good ideas for games have been used up by the previous console generations and the PC. He's still wrong, but it's less idiotic that way.

That's like saying one form of death is worse than another. Either way, you end up dead.

Anyways, like I was saying earliar, it should be interesting to see how they are able to create a control scheme that does not require the player to be a trained swordsman. Because if that happened

My guess is that there will be a decent tutorial about basic techniques, plus perhaps buttons in combinations with swinging movements would be used to pull off more elaborate maneuvers.

    That might work.

Well I've just finished reading the latest issue of Game Informer, and if its any indication Sony is going to have a really hard time coming out on top.

Ah, but never forget the uninformed populace.
If they're tld something is cool, it will be cool.
Remember Sega's mudslinging campaign against Nintendo? A better system or not (I preferred the SNES actually), I remember SEGA's edgier campaigning having an effect on my dimmer-witted elementary classmen.
Still a contest I'd say as they have the advantage of being high ranking the last two times.
Still, the price might kill them...

    SNES rocked my world.

Anyway...It seems to me that most posters here like me favor nintendo...so my next question is...

If they release Kotor 3 on 360...Will you get it???

I still need to play the KotoR series :(
I'm really going to have to hunker down and buy a 360 even though I can't stand the controller. The graphics really blew me away, even though I was essentially playing the same games I've always been playing :p
I think I'll get a 360 just because, but I'm going to wait for the kinks to get worked out.
    I wouldn't mind a PS3, but I just don't have that kind of money.

I'm just afraid because of the high price tag, being hard to produce games, and the all the rumors or copyright mumbo jumbo and what not that Sony will eventually bomb.

And why I want to buy a 600 dollar system that won't make it is beyond me.

I guess you just hafta save if you want one...I already have enough stashed anyway for any system..whichever I decide to get. But it seems that Sony once the "king" of gaming back in the PSX and PS2 early days are getting too conifident with themselves and in the process my being alienating themselves from the gamers that made them so successful in the first place.

Remember when they announced there first PSX price and simply said..."$299"

They were catering to the crowd and killed 3DO's 399 price tag right there...Now Sony seems like this evil juggernaut hell bent on one thing...making us poor...and making them rich.

    Ya think? :p
    It's a business, that's what businesses do.
Sony was never, ever a family company that wanted people to be happy first. Neither was Nintendo. And Microsoft... no. Too easy.
It was always about business of course. The issue now is that it's become bad business.
The thing with Sony and XBox, is that they have tentacles in other areas besides game making. Nintendo is all about games. So Sony can actually afford to screw themselves in the gaming area and still keep going.
The question is if the PS3 bombs for whatever reason, will the company see fit to go ahead with a PS4?

I still don't see why the Ps3 is getting all the bad rep. We all know that come day one, the Ps3 will still sell like hot cakes just like the Xbox 360 did. Even with the $600 price tag, people are still going to buy the console. I don't see why Sony would jump ship after the Ps3.

I don't see the Ps3 bombing right at launch. I may not be buying one at launch and will probably wait till after the first or second wave.
