That point was difficult to glean from the original post I replied to. Or the follow-up.

Nice, unneeded... and the big draw seems to be that this time the Pig actually comes on the adventure, and the movie knows it.

Idk, maybe the flunk of Wish and the success of X-Men '97 will finally, Finally, FINALLY, convince Disney to at least try traditional animation for a few movies.

I'm not too concerned about the animation. I saw a lot of people on social media complain about Wish's animation or lack thereof, but I don't take stock in that. My big concern with Wish was the convoluted story and unmemorable songs.

Speaking of songs, let's go backwards in time:

    62. Wish - "This Wish" - lackluster, unmemorable
    61. Strange World - didn't see. Did this have music?
    60. Encanto - obviously "We Don't Talk About Bruno" had the staying power with kids, like another song that kids couldn't let go of. Personally, I loved "Two Oruguitas" but since Spanish isn't my mother tongue, I couldn't sing it for you even if I wanted.
    59. Raya and the Last Dragon - I don't recall any music at all.
    58. Frozen II - "Into the Unknown" and "Show Yourself" are great but another convoluted story that confused kids
    57. Ralph Breaks the Internet - only good part of this movie were the Disney princesses
    56. Moana - "How Far I'll Go", "You're Welcome", I'll even add "Where You Are" were super catchy. The story is pretty straightforward, and the kids loved Maui and the chicken.

So pretty much makes sense to me, from a business standpoint, why we're getting a Moana 2.

Inside Out 2 was really good although the original is still the best out of the two. This did feel like a retread in parts. Also apparently the overriding theme is teenage emotions are inherently bad and Riley really needs to be on some mood stabilizers.

    That's... not encouraging.

How's it "really good"? And what's new?

It is really good that it hits the emotional bits that made the first one work, although the emotions being booted from headquarters is pretty much the same thing as the first. Anxiety is basically the villain so therefore teenage emotions are bad apparently. and while you see the five emotions repeated throughout other character's heads (Sadness, Joy, Disgust, Anger and Fear) I was mildly irritated the "new" emotions weren't being shown anywhere before aside from Riley

but in the mid-credits scene you see Anxiety pop up in the headquarters of mom and dad, I guess they keep it on lockdown

Isn't that pretty much what's to be expected in sequels? Hollywood, especially Disney in particular, is having a difficult time coming up with any new material; so they'll just revamp what worked last time. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

But in the End Joy realizes none of them are bad emotions they can't tell her how to feel only guide her emotions and that everyone is unique we're different and that's what makes us who we are as people. I absolutely loved this movie just as much or almost as much as the original! As someone who battles mental illness I can relate to all her emotions and like most if not all Pixar movies it had an emotional ending that made me and my dad cry I treated my dad to see this movie for a late Fathers Day gift! I was shocked the theater was packed even for Discount Tuesday at Regal at 1:20PM and it was the big theater the side seats and bottom seats were pretty filled. I haven't seen the movies this crowded since before COVID my theater has been a ghost town since COVID except for Barbie and Openhiemer and some MCU Movies and Avatar 2 otherwise no one seems to be going to the movies this was the exception! Good to see because if movie theaters keep going this way theaters will go out of business. Even the first showing at 11:20AM was packed! I think Garfield had a good crowd too!

    Mufasa: The Lion King

    Snow White

Mufasa: The Lion King looks like it might be interesting but I'm not sure if it's going to have the same emote problems that The Lion King had.
Snow White also looks interesting. Rachel Zegler is a talent but I don't see Gal Gadot pulling off a threatening villain role.
These will probably be D+ watches and not theater watches.

Also, they announced a live action Lilo & Stitch. I never saw the animated version so maybe I'll do that at some point.

Gal Gadot is the second Fast & Furious start to play both a Disney villain and the Queen in a live action Snow White.

Charlize Theron (Cipher) played the Queen in Snow White & The Huntsman and the sequel.
Luke Evans (Owen Shaw) played Gaston in Beauty and the Beast and The Coachman in Pinocchio.

Snow White shows a surprising degree of reverence to the original art direction and shot compositions of the 1937 film, even as it's recontextualizing some of the more dated elements ("Whistle While You Work" as a song about working together as opposed to a woman cleaning up house).

Makes me wanna rewatch the cartoon.

I'm not really too crazy about any of those films; will likely wait until they're available on D+.

Regarding Snow White in particular, do you think this will be another one of those animated-to-live action Disney flicks that will copy the story and script from the original word for word? I know there's been some controversy on the choice of using the CGI dwarves rather than actual Little People, but maybe Disney was just concerned with being seen as exploiting them in those roles.

Snow White looks better than I expected, and the early shots. Still skeptical after Zeigler's earlier comments.

Mufasa movie has a more interesting premise.. and I wonder if that's Kiara we see at the beginning? But still feel it's unneeded.

Moana 2... well the first movie is underappreciated. But... it looks like it's falling in the same trap as recent Disney animation canon movies. I'm sick of some of that humor.

Frozen 3... why can't we have a movie actually animated like that concept art?? It looks like something out of Sleeping Beauty.

    Snow White looks bad.
Horrible CGI Dwarves (why not hire short actors who need the work?), an evil queen who is more beautiful than the person she's apparently envious of.

Frozen 3 - meh, sequel we don't need
Indredibles 3 - meh, sequel we don't need
Toy Story 5 - meh, sequel we don't need

    More unnecessary live action remakes

They're doing another Incredibles and Toy Story too? Their most recent entries were bad.

This Snow White much better better than the early version of the film when they weren't Dwarves and it was set in a more modern setting.

Incredibles 2 was fine, but fine isn't enough to warrant a sequel after so long.

Inside Out 2 at least added something to develop the story of the first movie. It felt like Pixar wanted to make it to explore that next chapter instead of just make money from a past popular name.
