Yeah. This was already known.

 

I like the Dagobah stuff, particularly Yoda's characterization and Luke's interplay with him (as in, the force exposition itself is not what sold me), but I still agree with this. The Han/Leia plot was far more entertaining for me. Luke's role in the escape from Hoth was far more entertaining for me. Luke facing Vader was gold. This is something that made me nervous about the trailer. It was mostly angsty force plot stuff. If ESB had been 60% Dagobah, that movie wouldn't be a beloved favorite of mine.

One thing that I think makes the OT superior to the PT (for me personally) is that the force stuff doesn't get a ton of exposition. When you dig in too deep in any philosophy or religion, you inevitably find contradiction and principles that many in your audience won't agree with. Why go there? We aren't going to SW for religious lectures. Keep the philosophy simple, even ambiguous. ESB touched upon it, but didn't smack us over the head with it. "Do or do not. There is no try," and "only what you take with you." Done and done, love it, now back to the action.

Perhaps there's no distinction between the two. Fantasy and reality that is.

Speaking of which, how do we think the writers will handle Leia going forward? Will there be direct acknowledgement in the film? That is, will we see some kind of ceremony in Episode IX, allowing the audience one last poignant moment to grieve Fisher as Leia? Or does it happen off screen, between episodes? Perhaps she's not dead, but retired to a Naboo estate in the Lake Country? We never see her. Honestly, any thoughts?

 

I'm pretty sure those who ship characters know the difference between fiction and reality. But thanks for insulting people you don't even know.

 

I'd like to add that just because certain fans may gush about Kylo (or anything else, for that matter) online, it doesn't mean they're genuinely-irl-think-about-nothing-else obsessive.
