And this was one of my top 5 toys as a kid. Loved this thing. Took it everywhere. Also...just realizing now that it was a D&D toy...which is funny because my mom was super into the 80s extreme christian fad that believed D&D was satanic. Slipped right under her god-fearing nose.
Had one of these in 7th grade. Wore it to school and proceeded to get hard-slapped across the chest, stomach, and back alllllll day long. Never wore it again.
Had that. Had those games. Always hated them lol. I'm also bemused by the amount of story copy in old ads. Like..back when people had time to read a story about playing a video game, or buying dish soap.
^ Never heard of them Rock Lords aside from the usual like Plant and Page, Lennon and McCartney etc but that looks cool!
I still remember seeing double feature Harry and the Hendersens and American Tail at the drive win in the back of our family's burgundy Ford stationwagon.
Since I've been going there, Becky's Drive-In has used an FM transmitter for movie audio. But, for a while, they were selling off their old speakers at the snack bar. I should've gotten one when I had the chance.
York Steakhouse We used to go here as kids with my parents at the Auburn Mall in Auburn, MA. I loved this place, Fond memories. You'd stand in line at a cafeteria counter (fancy), which always had a line, order your food from a giant picture board, and pay first, and then sit down in a brass and walnut 70s paradise. But the best part was they had a buffet (chicken wings, pasta, that sorta thing) and an ice sundae maker. I distinctly remembering my dad ordering steak from the picture menus. As if ... people wouldn't know what a sirloin steak was without a big corny picture of it. lol. I'm pretty sure these pics are recent but they apparently never changed the decor until their last dying breath in the 2000s.
