authors note Quick apology for the first part of today's posty.I was trying to lighten things up with a little humor but it just came out sounding lame!

CHAPTER NINE

Anakin shifted nervously from foot to foot as he watched the Jedi Knight prepare supper.Finally he couldn't stand it anymore and spoke up.

"Knight Bant? Don't you think you should wait until Master Luminara gets here?"He asked.

Silver eyes studied him curiously.

"Why? There's not that much to do." Bant replied.

When the boy continued to watch her worriedly she sighed.

"Anakin what is the problem?"She asked.

"No offense but I like my food to be something I find above ground." He blurted out before blushing bright red.

Setting the knife she held down deliberately,Bant turned a piercing stare on him.

"And what may I ask does that mean?"She demanded.

Anakin lowered his head before answering.

"Master Obi-Wan told me that since you're a fish species you eat things like grubs and...slugs." He replied while shuddering.

Her silver eyes narrowed to slits.

"And when exactly did he tell you this?" She asked softly.

"Right after I first met you."He told her.

Her salmon colored skin seemed to take on a red tint.

"Anakin although he may not show it to you,your Master has a sick twisted sense of humor!I eat the same type of food you do."She assured him.

Noting his skeptical look,she sighed deeply.

"Is that why you always refuse my dinner invitations?" She asked curiously.

When he nodded she cursed under her breath.

"You just wait until he gets here!" She muttered heatedly.

Hearing the door open,Anakin breathed a sigh of relief before rushing into the living area.His Master was just removing his robe when he entered and gave him a warm smile.

"Hello Padawan.Did you behave yourself while I was gone?" He asked.

Flushing slightly,Anakin ducked his head before answering.

"Of course I did Master.I uh..I think Bant needs your help with something in the kitchen." He said innocently.

Tugging affectionately on the boy's braid,Obi-Wan headed toward the kitchen.

When the door opened again,Luminara and her Padawan entered carrying brightly colored packages.The Jedi Master gave Anakin a friendly smile.

"Hello Anakin." She greeted him.

"Hello Master Luminara."He said before turning to glare at the young girl who trailed behind her.

Barriss Offee stuck her nose in the air as she swept past him.

"Better not walk around like that when its raining Barriss.You might drown." Anakin warned her nastily.

The girl rolled her eyes at him.

"You're such a brat Anakin!" She told him.

"Children! Play nice." Luminara warned them.

When they both scowled at eachother ,she sighed and shook her head.Her attention was diverted by the sound of raised voices coming from the kitchen.She had just decided to go see what was going on when Obi-Wan rushed out,his face flushed a bright red color.

"Is everything allright?" She asked in concern.

"Everythings fine!" He said before changing the subject.

"Hello Barriss.I think you get prettier every time I see you!" He told the girl.

Anakin rolled his eyes and snorted,earning him a warning glare from his Master.The young girl blushed and hid her face without answering.

Luminara had to hide a smile.Her Padawan had a huge case of hero worship for Kenobi.As she took a moment to study her friend she had no problem seeing why.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was a fine specimen of a man.Soft russet hair now brushed against his collar and a well trimmed

 

Obi does not have a baby face!

Well...even if he did...babies are cute.

Great display of Anakin's bratiness, always needing to absorb every scintilla of Obi-Wan's attention. I can picture his annoying demeanor, with the help of your skillful descriptions and reactions.

Wonderful post, obi_ew. Of course,that's what I would expect from you!

You know, I think Obi-Wan's kindness may be working against him here....

I hope that he's not blinded to Anakin's problems (like his arrogance) because of his love for Anakin, and for the Master that placed Anakin in his care...

That would not bode well for Obi-Wan at all...

Excellent- just loved reading about Obi-Wan's charming Bariss- even though he could probably charm anyone with those eyes.. and a smile. Uhmm... right... before I digress

Excellent as always, and I continue to eagerly await what happens next.

Enjoyed this post very much oe . Nice to see a glimpse of some of the more lighthearted moments and see Obi-Wan surrounded by friends. Little Ani needs to find just a touch of Jedi serenity though, yikes what a brat! The brat easily brushed off his ill feelings for deceiving his master. This does not bode well for the future.

 

Although Anakin's still acting like a jealous brat, at least he still feels an attachment to Obi-Wan and wants his approval, as opposed to wanting to please a Sith Lord. I think he's on the edge right now, though.

Wonderfully done again, oe. I don't know how you craft enjoyable posts every day. Great job!

A little romance won't make me run. I generally don't read them, but I usually don't stop reading something I start if I can help it. I thought the bit you had in your last fic was just fine, and I actually liked it.

CHAPTER TEN

Obi-Wan entered the diner and breathed a soft sigh of relief when he saw it was mostly deserted.As he made his way toward a back booth,the few clientele spared him only a passing glance.Removing his robe he slid into the booth and leaned back to relax.

Although he had come to adore and cherish his Padawan,there were times when the boy's natural boisterous personality became too much.During those times he dropped Anakin off at a friends and retreated here to catch his breath.

Reaching down he gently ran a finger over the crystal that now adorned his saber hilt.Something about Anakin's attitude was still bothering him two days later.If he didn't know better he would say the boy was lying about how he had aquired the crystal.

His musings were interrupted when a cup of steaming tea was plopped down in front of him.Glancing up he grinned in delight.

"Dex you're an angel!" He exclaimed as he wrapped his hands around the warm mug.

The aliens wide mouth stretched into a smile as he patted the young Knight on the top of the head and back simultaneously.

"Obi-Wan!It's good to see you!That boy giving you fits again?" Dex asked.

"Always!" Obi-Wan admitted ruefully.

"He'll keep you young at heart.How about some of your favorite danish?A late birthday gift."Dex assured him.

"Yes please!" Obi-Wan said quickly.

Chuckling,the creature lumbered off into the kitchen.

Hunching over the steaming tea,Obi-Wan breathed in its sweet scent,closing his eyes.He had come to treasure these rare moments of quiet time alone.

"Happy birthday little one."

Obi-Wan jumped back in surprise at the unexpected and unwelcome greeting.As the owner of the smooth husky voice slid into the seat across from him he scowled heatedly.

"Must you always creep up on me? I hate it when you do that!" He muttered.

Resting his elbows on the table top casually,Xanatos smiled smugly.

"Your senses are off.Better meditate on that." The fallen Jedi advised mockingly.

Sipping his tea,Obi-Wan refused to play word games with the man.

"What do you want?" He asked shortly.

Pouting almost playfully,Xanatos ran an eye over him before replying.

"I brought you a gift." He explained.

Obi-Wan snorted indelicately.

"As if I would ever accept something you gave me!" He chided.

Before Xanatos could respond,Dex returned.After setting a plate down in front of Obi-Wan he turned a chilly gaze on the older man.

"Do you want me to put this out on the curb with the rest of the trash Obi-Wan?" He asked hopefully.

Xanatos' deep blue eyes froze over as he glared up at the creature.

"Careful Dex,or you might find yourself missing a few of those extra limbs you're sporting." The former Jedi hissed.

The creature opened his eyes wide in mock fear and slapped the aforementioned hands over his mouth.Obi-Wan almost spit his bite of danish across the table as he choked back a laugh.Lowering his head,Dex pressed his face close to Xanatos'.

"You may have the face of an angel my boy but it can't hide your cold black heart.Better watch yourself."He warned before moving off.

When Xanatos continued to glare with menace after the diner owner,Obi-Wan diverted his attention.

"So where's this gift?" He asked curiously.

Turning back to the younger man,Xanatos' expression softened.

"Close your eyes." He said enticingly.

Obi-Wan gave a bark of disbelieving laughter.

"Sure!That way you can gut me with your lightsabre without me putting up a fight!"He exclaimed.

A look flooded the pale handsome face.On anyone else Obi-Wan would have believed it to be genuine hurt.

"Little one,what will it take for you to finally believe that I would never harm a hair on your lovely head?" Xanatos asked sadly.

Sitting back,Obi-Wan studied the other man intently for several seconds before shaking his head.

"It'll never happen Xan,so why don't you tell me why you keep popping up all of a sudden." He urged.

Sighing deeply Xanatos' hand suddenly shot across the table and grabbed Obi-Wan's arm.As the

 

Something tells me Anakin is in for a rather angry Master once Obi-Wan returns to the Temple....

I think Anakin's bubble of secrecy has just been brutally burst.....

Oh, I loved this post! The interaction between Obi, Xani, and Dex was beautifully done. And Xani's gift to Obi was a great way for him to show his influence on Obi's padawan.

opps, I missed a post! Bad me. I liked the interaction between Bariss and Brat. (they remind me of my brother and myself)

I have a bad feeling about that bracelet, and it's not fair! You keep showing the friendship they could have...but Obi's to stuborn to accept it. Of course, Xani is evil so...

 

That was just excellent, obi_ew!!! I love Xanatos in this fic, but Obi will still be top for me!

Xan knows just the right buttons to push with Obi-Wan. I loved the interaction between the two. It could almost be seen as lighthearted banter except for the palpable tension. I also loved the scene with Dex. His reaction to Xan's threat cracked me up. Great post oe . Keep 'em coming!
