Tice, as I said on UK Regional, I wanna discuss an idea with you relating to the FF table banner, which I got from looking at photos of the table at C4. It works with your idea of just promoting FF rather than just FFUK.

Oh, and I will of course be involved in the table. We'll have to ask other FF Europe CRs and RSAs if they don't mind getting involved, too.

Feel free to post your thoughts here Sie. The only thing I would say is that funding a banner might be a stretch on the funds and flyers get priority (current funds=£0.00). There are of cause some cheaper alternatives which could be just as effective. I need to do a rough sketch of the table concept I have in-mind which will hopefully inspire us. I have a mock flyer nearly ready too, will try and get everything up tomorrow.

I'm not sure if it belongs to anyone in particular, or even if it belongs to anyone who's coming to CE. If it isn't, then if we could do a similar design I'm willing to put money towards making it. If it belongs to anyone coming to CE, we can badger them to bring it with them until they give in

 

It does look good, and funny enough I've been thinking of a black and red theme for the table and flyers. Maybe they could even post it to us. Anyone know who made it?? Of cause it could work out cheaper to do our own, so I shall look for banner quotes too.

Does anyone have a nice, big black table cloth??

As promised, here are some concepts I've been working on for CE.
Firstly here is the flyer:

This design may divide some. It's quite unconventional and bold. Essentially it's a black&white flyer but will be photocopied onto red paper (that said it works well on white paper too). The type is very minimal but it says exactly what it needs to say. The main purpose behind it is for it to be eye-catching and draw peoples attention. From a short distance, the image of Vader's mask is very apparant and I think it works very well. While this has been designed with the financial constraints we have fully in-mind, to help put it into perspective this would cost about £50 to produce 2,000. A more conventional flyer with colour would cost 4 times as much. I may be biased, but I actually think this works better then a more conventional flyer too.

The table has three elements to it. The first element is the header at the top. My idea behind that is that when people walk into the FanClub area, we are very easy to identify and with it just saying 'FanForce' we communicate exactly what we need to. Each part will be a sheet of A4 red card, with the letter made with black card stuck on. This would cost about £3-5 to make for the whole lot, the only tricky part being the letters 'O' and 'C'. It could look rubbish, but if done well it could look very good and worth a shot given the low cost.
The second element is the table content. It's dead simple and symmetrical. Two placards, both the same, either side of the flyers which will be piled in the middle, maybe with a few scattered around it. The placards will be A3 sheets of red card with black type, explaning in more detail what the FF is all about.
The third element are the backingboards/wall (assuming we have one). On here I think it best we have some FF posters and a big photomontage from previous FF meets. I can get A3 posters made at no cost, and the photomontage should be inexpensive, especially if we all print our own sets and combine them.
As you can see, the black table cloth will help the placards and flyers really stand out.

So, they are my ideas. I may have over-analysed things but I can see this being easy and cheap to pull-off, and if done well could look very good and be effective.
Please feel free to say what you like or hate about them. Time is of the essence really and if we can start to lock things down then we'll be in good shape.

I asked over in the OFH. It's a FanForce-owned banner (official answer) but Dajuan seems to the be the one in charge of it. We might be able to get it for CE.

 

t-shirts,what an excellent idea.

 

A FanForce T-shirt is something I'm very keen to have too. I aim to go to a shop tomorrow that prints your own t-shirts, just to find out prices and more info. If people are willing to pay for the cost of each t-shirt they want, then it would be great to do. Will post my findings tomorrow.

I could add 'Registration is free' underneath the 'registration required to post'. Good thinking

 

Got a quote for t-shirts and they'll cost £11.99 each (about 18 euros). I'll try and get some more quotes but that's our guide price for now

 

Perhaps we can ask Dajuan if should could send us some of the little FF cards she had made with the web address and the book with all FF info in it. (both were at C4 and very helpful)

Thanks for pointing the grammer error Glen. I did know it should be just the one 'o' but I always make silly mistakes like that, d-oh!

Our own flyers and placards will hopefully take care of the information side of things. Like I said before, I don't want the table filled with a mish-mash of things so one flyer and the placrads should serve us well. In the long run I also think it'll be easier and cheaper if we have our own stuff.

The t-shirt quote was based on an order for around 10-15, with the printed image being around 6x4 inches (15.5x10cm). The bulk of that price is for the actual t-shirt, which looked to be of good quality and available in different colours and sizes. I will seek some more quotes though as I was hoping to get them cheaper

 

Woolworths sell tablecloth that aren't too pricey, not sure about black, but I used their cream coloured one for the Manchester table Matt, which I stuck the FF-UK map design on.

Flyer - aye, love the design, and it stands out from the normal text heavy ones.

Table - idea looks great Matt. Thumbs up from me

T-Shirt - great idea too. I used iron-on stickers to do most of my FF-UK T-shirts in the past, maybe we could do that. Just means people have to print out and iron-on for themselves. And maybe offer pre-done one too as above?

I usually take a few more to trade around. So please, to add some more to my collection, to make Fan Force worldwide shirts would be a good idea!

I'm jumping out of the plane in Luton (from what I heard the worst travel to central london 2+ hours) and I'll leave Sunday afternoon (yeah unfortunately) from Gatwick. I am going to buy a route map and that Michelin thingy for transports... Hope it helps...

Edit: I must protest! I was appreciating this banner's forum and when I got to the above map at the left, I noticed Portugal doesn't even show up. There's no borders I now, but the area there is north spain... sad!

I'll add your name to the volunteer list, and thank you very much for offering your services. When the timetable of events for CE is published, we can begin creating a rota but I'm sure we will meet either on the Thursday evening or Friday morning to finalise everything incase we don't have that timetable published before hand. We should be easy to find with the table

I do apologise for not being able to feature Portugal fully on the banner. Because of the limited size of the banner's height and the size of the map of Europe, it was impossible to fit everyone in I'm afraid. Scandinavia has also been affected by this. I did try making the map of Europe smaller so that more countires could fit in, but the image just didn't work quite as well.

I was directed here. I don't have the book or banner in hand now, but I can definitely get them to someone for CE. I'd prefer it to be someone in London just for simplicity sake. About 300-500 business cards are left so I can send those as well (we started with 1000). It will be a heavy box, but no big deal. FanForce actually owns the banner, cards, and book. So just let me know who has the banner after the con, so I can keep track of where it is for the next group who needs it. I would like the book back after the con so I can keep updating it. Feel free to add pics to it yourself or email/snail mail me pictures and I will do that.
