This is one of the best fanfilms I have ever seen. It is totally worth downloading it.

It was magnificent. Actually no, it was breathtaking. You know what? There is no word in the English language to describe this movie, so I am forced to make one up. And I will do that right now. This movie is......scrumtralescent.

    Honesty hurts, I guess.

I found that to be an uber disappointment.

This film is hyped up as being the pinnacle of Matrix fandom, and it really isn't. Step back here and look at what it has. I'll have one paragraph of blunt, no-frills bashing.

    An invincible bad guy.

    A flat, pointless woman character.

An operator of whom uses "$h17" as half of his dialouge.

    A Neo character who fights.

They stole the code from the film, the audio was choppy, the 'plot developing' scenes were needless, and half the film was Matrix Jedi-esgue hallway running.

    I'm done bashing.

I'll admit right now; the choreography was almost as good as the original film. But that is literally, in my opinion, the only thing it has going for it. The only character I'd like to have seen developed is the contact-ball goth. He seemed like a program straight out of Reloaded. Or a Power Rangers villain. Either way, very cool.

The actual cinematography was, I'll say, average by default. It was better than most at many points, and notably worse at other times. Sometimes the idea was good and the execution failed, IE the building shots from the car.

I haven't read all six pages here, but I'll bet the action has been commented on. I'll make a statement and leave that. This film is basically worth the download for the action. Now, I kinda get the feelings at points it was only action you could get into because of the sound effects (something which most other films fail to add), but it really did help.

The Burly Brawl was nicely edited, and the track was nicely blended to fit the last fight scene.

So, here it is. The meat of the review.

    PROS

    1. Best action I've ever seen in a Matrix fanfilm (so far).

    2. Nice editing of the original cues.

    3. Interesting gothic dude.

    4. All around good and obvious effort.

    CONS

    1. Lack of original effects. (I really get pissed when someone steals actual footage from a movie.)

    2. Teetering on a fulcrum between 'no storyline needed' and 'we try to have one anyway.'

Review in one sentence: A very nice film in itself, but not the pinnacle of Matrix fandom and fanfilmmaking.

So...pretty much like the real movie then ;)

    Seriously though.

I thought it was pretty good. I'm no big matrix fan, but if Fig would like to produce a Matrix Film worthy of comparison, I would gladly be the test audience :) ...if I'm still here... :( ...not because you're slow, but because I'm leaving...remember [face_plain] Ah well... (You could call it "The Matrix: Pinnacle of Fandom" I've been waiting for a SW Fan-Film with that title ever since I heard someone say 'Pinnacle of Fandom' to something (I think "Duality"). It has to be used somewhere)

I think my favorite matrix fan-film so far is in fact Glitch, but this is my favorite serious one by far, even if it was unneccessary. Still entertaining. Then you watch it the fifth time, yawn, delete, and go watch Chicken Run (I dig those mice :D )

The mice are cool, Glitch is cooler, and Boo is the best.

Yeah, I think Glitch is my favorite Matrix fanfilm.

Thanks, Durb, for the links. :)

The film is very nice, but somehow shallow. I mean, I'm yet to see a serious Matrix film that is also about some philosophy, and not only stunts and fights.

I liked the "feel" of the film, but I missed some slow motion shots, that are a kind of a "signature" of the original films. I'd put some slo mo shots in that nightclub, with the people dancing, and a lot more during the fight sequences.

The girl looks awesome, and the shots taken directly from the first Matrix were very good, very similar to the movie, except when the actuall fight begins.

I don't know if there's a plot. If there is, I couldn't find it, but I guess that's ok in this kind of project. The DivX file is HUGE (128 Mb?!?) and I experienced some audio sync problems too.

The ending is surprising, but I was expecting something "divine" to happen, you know? Maybe next time.
