Hi everyone! I made a piano cover of “Rey’s Theme” from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Check it out if you get a chance! Thanks!
I have to be complete honest. When I listened to the soundtrack just last week, my immediate reaction to it was, "Is this a knock-off?" Something sounds off with soundtrack, as if it's muted in some way. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but I am very disappointed with the soundtrack.
It really opened up for me after listening to it for a few days, plus seeing the film a few more times.
The soundtrack is so lovely, i don't understand why many hated, it's my top 5 of the best things of the film really.
Don't get the disappointment. TFA was far better than any in the prequels. I for one, love the TFA soundtrack. I like basically every track from it and I don't say that about any other Star Wars film. I think the soundtrack is a masterpiece
I had thought Williams didn't conduct the opening titles for Episode VII. I guess whoever was spreading that info around was misinformed?
He did, he just handed the reins of the film/album take over to Gustavo Dudamel as an honorary gesture.
I've listened to it over a thousand times according to my I-tunes. No other song comes close on the list.
Sad that Williams did not win the Oscar for this score. Still, if it couldn't go to him, Ennio Morricone was the deserving winner.
The soundtrack to the OT (especially ANH) was like an orchestral rock concert: Big, bombastic, and filled with childlike wonder. The soundtrack to the PT was more like a grand ancient opera; dark, brooding, and fleeting. TFA's score however is like a big warm hug from John Williams; gentle, sweet, and nostalgic.
