We don’t know that, but perhaps the last of the era of corporate excitement for streaming TV.

I've said this in the past, but Disney originally had high hopes for Disney+ (they even seemed to hope that profits could replace movies), so they invested a lot of money in an attempt to win the streaming wars.

However, Disney've now realized that streaming isn't as profitable as they had hoped (currently, they're only profitable if they combine all their streaming services). So, they're cutting back on their spending on Disney+ originals.

Star Wars live-action shows will be especially affected because these shows are very expensive by nature. There's a reason why Star Wars live-action were never attempted on television.

Well, this could apply to shows like Obi-Wan or Boba Fett, which may be profitable as movies. However, shows like The Acolyte or Skeleton Crew wouldn't even exist without Disney+ (especially after Solo failure).

Well, there's apparently a TV series in works: ScreenTime on X: "A new 'STAR WARS' tv series is reportedly in the works Written by Nick and Carlton Cuse (Lost, Watchmen) (via: @TheInSneider) https://t.co/1XMZUsbL2N" / X

If this is right (there isn't official announcement), Disney is not going to totally stop Star Wars live-action shows. That said, they're definitely going to try to keep costs and quantity down (I assume they're going to release one Star Wars Live-Action show every year or two).

This TV series written by Nick and Carlton Cuse wasn't announced in the Star Wars Celebration, so this project should be in a pretty early state. I doubt it will be released in 2027.

I will take it more seriously when more legit sources start mentioning it. That person is the same person that says every six months that Kathleen Kennedy is leaving.

In any case they will always be working on ideas. Rather or not those ideas actually get greenlit is another matter.

Dave Filoni himself in one of his interviews at Celebration said there are new live action shows coming but didn’t say how many or when.

Given that there was no update on it at Celebration, I actually hope the Lando film gets reconsidered as a limited series.

I suspect they feel a little safer making movies as the box office is at least more profit accessible for itself. While the Disney+ system needs various other factors to be stable at the same time.

I think the fact that we have literally zero shows that we know of that are live action other than Ahsoka season 2 speaks volumes.

Here's a thought, without going through teams of old chat back in the day was there massive discussion about how popular clone wars or rebels was in relation to viewership numbers. Seems to be the biggest category of conversation nowadays

This is what I've been saying. It might be more profitable to target unique viewers across the different shows rather than have a big number of the same viewers for each show.

Right now animation teased two potential shows from Bad Batch and Tales of the Underworld. The Clone Uprising with Rex and Echo. The Path show with Ventress, Lyco and Quinlan Vos. I dont think we will be abondoning the dark times era soon now that they have teased two shows and Maul shadow Lord wont show us Clone Uprising or the Path...

The one fans decided is a thing, and one that desperately needs three-to-eleven seasons of television to show, even though there's barely any evidence of it actually being a thing. ;)
