She could feel the pressure building, like a tightening of the chest.

There was interest in her, from dozens of other sentients in the area, watching her, monitoring her; this she could feel through the Force.

And they were not fans; she could feel that!

One great metal limb, segmented, planted itself onto the ocean floor in a watery explosion of tan-coloured silt, and pushed, propelling the All Terrain Tactical Enforcer onwards, of which it was only the central leg on the left flank.

The six-legged war machine, packed to the gills with sea- and stormtroopers, put down another leg, and continued slowly but steadily on, metre by metre, eating up the distance between Fastern Island, and the mainland.

OOC: This is yet another installment of a joint post between MOO and myself. Again, thank you MOO.

    PREVIOUSLY...

"R-2...you wouldn't happen to know Anakin's code would you?" Sabe said sweetly to the little unit as it trundled closer.

I'm a certified sniper, she thought, but I can't break his code! Ahhhh, what a day this has been, she thought in consternation as she worked over a few other codes and pounded the desk in frustration as yet the 11th attempt left her locked out. "Anakin!"

Hesitating and clicking for half a moment, Artoo watched as Sabe bit pensively at her thumb, staring at the computer.

Sabe stretched. I'm going to need clothing, she realize as the alluring but form fitting orange suit began to feel mildly over-warm. She looked down at the desk. The screen of the monitor was pale. Can?t see what I?m doing The light from the window reflected upon the computer screen. Turning in the chair she realized how exposed the office and those in it were to anyone with a pair of macros. Rising, she peeked out of the corner of one large curving panel.

    Dusk.

She touched the button that closed the protective panels over the window.

In the darkened room she crossed to the cabinet, took out another water and broke the seal.

She laughed to herself. Well, Sabe, what a position you are in! You who fought for a Republic - there would never be a new Republic if the Moffs took over.

I am care-taking this Empire in the hopes a Republic will be formed she thought to herself trying to reconfirm her commitment.

There's a better chance with Anakin on forming a Republic than with the likes of the scum who only want power for themselves; who are callous and abusive to other beings in this galaxy.

She sat once more in the huge chair behind the desk and looked down at the astro-mech as she chewed the inside of her mouth.

"I've never been more alone.." she muttered. If only...if only Hannes was here. Powers only knew where he was. An agent was with him, but...what could Hannes do? He'd be the first one to admit that he'd be a fish out of water and ?Dawn? was not powerful enough to help her. The Alliance? Sabe shook her head. The government was teetering dangerously.

The most she could do was to keep the ?rancors?, meaning the warlord Moffs and many political players who would feel the perceived empty seat of power Palpatine had left behind him, at bay.

Where is Ms. Soobie, thought Sabe looking at the chrono. Surely it?s been more than 5 minutes by now! Knowing that there were so many who might act in coup, how did Anakin stand it? The quiet made her anxious. It was like being cut off from dangers outside, blind! She touched a button on an inter-office com she?d seen Anakin use to summon the aide.

When Anakin was well, she would have to persuade him to form a New Republic and arrest those who had committed crimes with Palpatine's blessings.

"Hahahhah..." what a joke this was! The Powers definitely had a sense of humor! She still could not believe Palpatine was dead! He caused the fall of the Republic, he caused her sister's death and here she was Padme's sister never trained in politics holding onto the reins of a government she had sworn to overthrow! Too funny!

Exhaling heavily, she looked down again at the R-2 unit. ?R-2, Master Anakin wishes you to access his computer so that I may do as he commands,? said Sabe with authority, her voice sounding in tone and modulation exactly as Padme?s.

Artoo whirred and beeped hesitantly again, but this time he drew up to the desk and plugged himself in to a port to begin unlocking Lord Vader?s computer.

Sabe sat back in amazement and confusion trying to ascertain why the effort had worked.

The quiet of the room was deafening! Sabe sat back up and scooted forward once more, the computer making a set of rapid clicks as the screen came alive and the single function query oddly blinking in such a work-a-day fashion, a simple font and in aurabesh: ?Welcome, Lord Vader, do you wish to

Location: The Great Temple, Yavin IV

Slipping out of his friend?s bear hug, Torian turned to his wife who had quietly entered the conference room. Their eyes both locked on each other and shared a quiet moment. Letting go for professional?s sake, he nodded, ?Master Jedi.?

Although the beings in this room knew very well that the General was married to a Jedi, there was a certain professionalism that had to be maintained in the Alliance. Inside these walls it was all business, but inside his quarters it was all pleasure!

MonMothma, Admiral Ackbar and General Dodonna were the last to enter as everyone took their seats. Water was poured into glasses by the yeomen and then they were dismissed. Torian looked around at the faces in the room. Most wore a mask of seriousness, some impatience. Admiral Ackbar, well, nobody could tell really from his expression. Captain Biggs sat in his seat, excited to be privy to the most sensitive material. Everyone turned their attention to the old man to begin. He looked at them for a second before he realized they were waiting.

Standing up he walked around the table. ?As all of you have read in the datapads, there is an unconfirmed report that the ?Great, All-Powerful? Emperor of the New Order is dead and that his apprentice Darth Vader is in charge.? He did not use the man?s real name; after all, his enemy took his leg from underneath him literally.

?From what I have read and learned in the intelligence briefings, the highest ranking officers including the Grand Moffs are none too pleased that Vader is the supreme commander.? He stopped, crossed his arms and put his chin down into his chest. For what he was about to say would certainly raise even more concerns and questions. ?It is my belief that the Moffs will attempt a coup on Vader and kill him.? He continued around the table, stopping behind his wife. ?This complicates things possibly for some here but not everyone.?

?Complicates?? General Yueh questioned Torian. ?How so??

?At ease General, I will get to that in a moment.? He continued to walk around the room. ?The war with the Confederacy has dented but not greatly weakened the Imperial war machine. It is my opinion that we do not attack them head on and try to end this once and for all.?

General Yueh shifted in his seat uncomfortably. He wanted to stand and protest this course of action but held his tongue and continued to listen the General?s strategy.

?Let the Imperials fight amongst themselves, weakening their military further. In the meantime we can attack unsuspecting facilities and steal equipment and supplies, dwindling their supplies and their capabilities to commit more to our efforts. For we are still no match for them head to head, but covertly and intelligently we can a great deal of damage. Let them beat the crap out of each other while we watch on the sidelines.?

He looked around the room before continuing. ?Before I brief you on the strategy that Commander Matrix has worked up for us in his spare time, I would like to hear from you all.? He stopped and looked around the room. ?What are your thoughts? Unlike Master Jedi Shuri, I can?t read your minds.?

General Yueh sat up tall in his chair, ?What is so complicated General? We should smash them with everything we have!? He slammed his fist into his open palm.

Torian put his hand up to calm the hawkish General. ?I believe our Jedi liaison can answer your question but first I must tell you that what you are told here today must never leave this room?understood?? He glared at General Yueh.

The man moved back into his seat, slightly deflated, ?Yes General.?

    IC: Emi-to Shuri
LOCATION: ARR base conference hall, Yavin IV

Emi followed Torian with her eyes for a few moments before looking ahead serenely as she listened.

?As all of you have read in the datapads, there is an unconfirmed report that the ?Great, All-Powerful? Emperor of the New Order is dead ?

Her meditative trance and sleep had not afforded her the time to be privy to this news, nor had the Jedi yet, been disseminated the information and lacking a connection to their once vast intelligence network, they were presently cut off from the Galaxy as a collective body.

Emi lifted her gaze as she considered the many possibilities upon hearing of Sidious? passing. So that was what she had felt? but there was more. There had to be much more, and how could the Sith be gone just so after the calamity his machinations had brought?
Torian?s voice spoke to her left as he continued walking the circumference of assembly, ?? his apprentice Darth Vader is in charge.?

The young face was clear her mind's eye as if he stood before the Master Jedi now as Torian gave a gritted sort of tense emphasis to the name, the last expression, imprinted in memory?

Even as she saw with her own eyes his deadly path, her heart like so many who fell to that sword did not want to accept what had become of all that promise, the arrogance a means to brush off a deep and entrenched wound, the humor dry to mirror his Master?s, the drive un-Jedi-like to his own painful awareness, but a generosity of spirit that out shone any sun, gentleness and sincerity to disarm incredulity. She?d run because she was outmatched then. To die would have been a waste.

?Do you stand with me? DO YOU STAND WITH ME??

It broke the heart. It burned a fiery rage and she knew the word he cried, his face twisted in a broken insanity awash in the blood of innocence. She did not hear his voice, only knowing the word and so she did, she did as he bade her and ran!

    How? How? ?

And so she?d met the dark with a wall, striking at Eme, closing the doors after the house had been ransacked! Shutting out the possibility that there had been a plea unnoticed, unrecognized, the failing was not where it had been placed.

Emi-to mentally roused herself from the memory, but not from the awareness breaking within. No, Sidious would not fall easily! What she?d felt was ? expansive? a dense echo from ?

?? intelligence briefings, the highest ranking officers including the Grand Moffs are none too pleased that Vader is the supreme commander? It is my belief that the Moffs will attempt a coup on Vader and kill him.? He continued around the table, stopping behind his wife. ?This complicates things possibly for some here but not everyone.?

Emi blinked. Anything she might have wished to say, was overwhelmed by an emotional outburst from the other side of the circle.

?Complicates?? General Yueh questioned Torian. ?How so??

Torian settled the disgruntled General with an immediate outline of a basic strategy. Emi noted the General?s reluctant acquiescence.

Emi-to looked up and around the room, her brow furrowed in thought. She looked to Torian. What she?d have to say would not substantially move the thinking of a man like Yueh.

?Ahem? I shall offer what insight I have,? said Emi humbly.

?The ? Emperor is reported ... dead,? she began. ?I must state, though I feel this report is premature, I have reason to believe it may be so, though the fact defies reason in part?? She collected her focus. ?And the nature of his demise? Is this known?? Emi looked about, open to whomever

    Location: Naboo

Down in the private basement that he had rented and outfitted for his most private activities, the shopkeeper bit back his annoyance that the Secret Galactic Intelligence Service had contacted him right there, while he was in the middle of listening to the received recordings from the customised jewellery that he had sold to those two Imperials who had brought the queen back to Naboo.

He had three HoloComm images before him, throwing light blue into his face and across the bare brickwork of the vault.

There was Lim herself, with the familiar background of the agency?s Forward Control Ship that had ferried him to Naboo that first time, forty plus years ago.
Then there was a twi?lek?s face, filling the image, and looking like he was lying with his cheek on the deck ? Yav? wondered what the heck he had been up to when Lim had called.
And finally, two faces, right-side up this time, a rodian and a bearded human.

    The elf recognised neither.

?What do you mean by calling me like this? I am retired, you know!? He raged at length, after squelching the playback of the Imperial voices.

?Hey, you called us! You rattled our cage!? The uniformed Lim countered hotly, understandably. ?What did you think would happen??

?I thought you needed to know that there was a jed-, uh, a Code J in trouble out this way.? He referred to Queen Sabe Amidala?s apparent outing of a jedi over an open comm-line to the Imperial forces blockading, no, sorry; protecting the planet.

He didn?t know what the woman was thinking; he would have voted for Appalaina if she had run again. But still, Sabe Delba was queen, and he would be loyal to her.

?And the galaxy thanks you.? Lim assured him. ?But we need you to do more. We need you to find out the state of the pursuit. Consider yourself re-activated, Agent Yavscout.?

?Re-activated!? He sputtered, face starting to redden from it?s natural light olive. ?I was never one of your agents; and if you were the real Lim, you would know that!?

?Hey, show some respect!? Demanded one of the other contacts; the rodian, it looked like.

Yavscout ignored him, and in any case, Lim had put up a palm to placate her supporter. ?And another thing. If we have all these ties into Double-I, why the hell don?t we know what they did with her??

?Actually, that is rather a good point.? The holo? of the twi?lek mused aloud.

Yavscout ignored him too. He had noticeably calmed, thinking what Lim had asked off him.
He looked off to his right blankly, as coincidentally, the female synthdroid looked off to hers. ?You pulled field pay during the Naboo mission, according to my records.? She relayed, clearly not believing his idea that he was not an operative.

?I was a Combat Medtech,? he revealed absently, flapping a hand at the screen. ?A lot of our guys were going down that day. I arrived on the very ship that you are on now, Mission Supervisor.?

    ?Medtech? Well, we-?

?Look, shut up. I?m thinking.? The former medtech leaned over and killed the link, casting his mind to the problem of finding where this Truthsayer personage was now, and how he was faring.

IC: Ruling Councilman Sarcev Quest; Ms. Soobie, Senatorial aide to Lord Vader; Sabe Amidala, Queen of Naboo; Artoo
LOCATION: Lord Vader's Senate offices and landing pad, Imperial Senate, Imperial Center

?I?d love to assist you, my dear Sister, but I think just right now, something?s afoot out there, Sarcev said looking through the transparasteel doors that cut the conference room off form the noise in the staff pool.

?Your call might have to wait a while?.? He was saying in answer to the Bene Gesserit?s request.

Before him stood the diminutive blond, Ms. Soobie. He chucked to himself at her appearance. She seemed so incongruous with Vader?s ? what was the word? his? ?ambient presence? perhaps. The blue suited Soobie seemed distracted. Quest smiled the more and stuck his hands in his trouser pockets and hid his grin.

    ***

?One of the engineers just called to say that the Ledaren has gotten through to the safe rooms?? said an eager aide pulling Ms. Soobie at her arm as she moved to alert the Councilor and the Bene Gesserit of Lord Vader?s ?invitation.? The doors to the conference room opened before she could ask the aide any further questions.

Sarcev looked up as the doors open to admit the now familiar form of Miss Soobie. "Well, "Little Blue"! We were wondering, the Sister and I what business everyone's been up to. So quiet of late. I miss the hubbub! I should be getting on, if his... Majesty intends being longer. A pity, though, I really did wish to speak with him on some matters of import. Do you think you might prevail upon Lord Vader to take a breather and fit me in to the schedule? Hum?"

?Ms. Soobie, he says they?ve found the Grand Vizier and the Speaker?? interrupted another aide from across the vast central office. ?They?re on their way up!?

?Excuse me, Councilman,? said Soobie crossing quickly away to take the call.

?Indeed,? he murmured watching curiously and then glancing down to the close doors of Vader?s office.

?Um?. ahem? I?ll ? be back,? Quest half-muttered to Alia who stood by the window looking out at the lights of Coruscant?s night skyline.

    ***

"Why... why, it's the charming fancy!" Sarcev stood in the doorway ready to meet with anger and pleasantly surprised, if somewhat disappointed his objective was not present for he expected Lord Vader and not this divine creature whose every curving line was so piquantly kissed by the sleek orange and white body suit.

Sarcev Quest?s smooth and shorn pate wrinkled as he looked about the room for sign of the "Emperor" Vader. "Forgive me... Your Majesty... Amidala, had I but known you'd be behind the door, I would have prepared with more ... appropriate formality... but of course, you seem quite informal and at home here."

His rich and sonorous voice, accented thickly, told of his confidence. Councilman Quest was apprised of his wiles and their affect on the opposite sex.

Sabe palmed the recording device and looked briefly to R2. She hoped the little droid remembered her orders regarding personages entering the office. The queen stood and took one step away from the chair, a hand grasping the blaster, her little finger releasing the safety but keeping the weapon at her side.

Why had Soobie not warn her of this former Jedi?s approach? Too late now ? he was in. Taking another step to stand beside the desk, Amidala coolly appraised Sarcev Quest. According to the dossier collected by the NSS

Quest considered himself quite the ladies? man. If Quest thought to impress her with his charm ? it didn?t work. He was about as attractive to Amidala as a Veermok, a fierce primate native to her homeworld.

Keeping her voice neutral, void of any emotion, Amidala addressed Quest. ?Has anyone told you Councilor Quest it is impolite to enter a private office without first having your presence announced? What can I do for you??

To say Sabe did not trust Quest or any of Palpatine?s councilors was an understatement. They were criminals of the highest degree, who should be arrested and charged with crimes against the ga

IC: KIG Ledaren: Sheyf Quinlan Vos, Mas Amedda, Sate Pestage
Location: Underbelly of the Senate, Coruscant

Quinlan feigned being caught up by the voices coming from the safe-house; but in reality, he had a keen eye on young Solo and the ?Blue Guard? as they exchanged pleasantries. The Kiffu chuckled to himself as Han?s facial expressions and body language went from one spectrum to another and then back again. Confident in the boy?s diplomatic skills, he decided to let the Corellian handle the situation with the Guards and he turned his attention back to the hole in the wall where the Senators were now slowly stepping out of. First it was the big Chagrian and then the rest followed his lead. ?Cowards?, he thought to himself. He didn?t have to wait long before their true colors began to shine.

?Who is in ch?. Where is the Emperor?...? Amedda decided to ask outright. ? Might as well get a handle on the situation immediately, he decided somberly.

Soon some of the braver refugees had stepped through after Amedda with Pestage behind them as the Senate President queried the dark Kiffu.

"...A Jedi!?!" exclaimed some in hushed and frightened tones.

??and who are you?? casually demanded Pestage coming up behind Amedda and looking curiously to the boy standing with the Kiffu

Quinlan raised an eyebrow at the declaration, but he waited to reply until the last of their pompous motley crew exited the safe-room. The Kiffu thumbed the ignition switch and his blade retracted from life with the ?all-too-familiar? sound.

He motioned for Han to come stand behind him and waited for him to do so.

Amedda?s shield crackled and blinked away as he too switched the mechanism off at his hip. There was no immediate threat; that much was clear, the others he felt were not so convinced, but his more relaxed stance brought some calm behind him.

Sensing their collective apprehension, Quin returned his weapon to its rightful place on his belt, and then he spoke: "I am the Emperor's Emissary and Sheftain of Kiffex... I serve his majesty as 'Ledaren' of the KIG special ops. My name is Quinlan of the Clan Vos...?

"Vos," murmured Amedda in surprised recognition, but he did not speak further of it.

Well, that answered the question partially. So there was still an Emperor and the Sheyftain did not strike Amedda as the company Sidious liked to employ. He hadn?t the ? air. It was quite probable Vader was in control and with the Blue Guard in attendance, there was a legitimacy still attached to the former Executor?s ascension.

Quinlan shot a glance at the Chagrian and slightly tilted his head forward in such a manner as to convey that he knew what the former tadpole-turned Senatorial Aide, was thinking. ?...and, I can assure you that I am no Jedi. But don't take my word for it, when I deliver you to Lord Vader you can ask him yourself."

Pestage held himself with some enlargement as he all but pushed, in as much as one could push the Senate President anywhere. "Well, now, Quinlan Vos, Ledaren and Not Jedi, to whom do you refer and with what authority?? queried Pestage with a wry smile, his warm and drawling Coruscanti, liquid as he glanced down to the young boy again. "Is this your back up?" The Vizier gestured at Han and his makeshift blade.

When Pestage inquired about Han, the yellow tatted-one decided to flex his own political-muscle. Quinlan loved a good challenge and for all of his smarts, the Grand Vizier failed to understand one simple thing. There are those born with power, and the rest must learn to acquire it. For all his accomplishments, Pestage would never understand what it meant to possess and wield the Force. The fastidious Grand Vizier believed that with Palpatine dead, tha

    [image=http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a330/MASTER-OF-EVIL/480px-500_Republica.jpg]

Sunbeams poured through the deflector shields with artificial air generators, painting the heaven calotte pinky-reddish, drawing the skyscrapers with golden stripes. Sun descending above Coruscant. At the 500 Republica, in the luxurious apartment painted pourpre, many hundred stores above the ground, a young girl was sitting by the guardrails near the turbolifts, raised her arms to her knees as she looked out into the window of the sun setting....

It was getting darker as Kai and Dina were riding the taxi to another destination.

"So Master Kota left us a place to stay while we are here. Convenient, at least this way we don't have to bunk in the Devina." Dina commented to Kai sitting beside her lost in his own jungle of thoughts.

Dina tapped Kai's arm to snap him out. "Felucia calling to Kai."

"Oh...sorry Dina. I'm just thinking about the task that is given to us. Its not going to be easy with everything that has happened recently." He said darkly.

Dina was silent, he was right with the recent terrorist attacks and the political situation with the military returning from the recent campaigns, it was indeed going to challenging but not impossible to pull this off.

"Well I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard, Kai. This is Imperial Center as they say, its full of them." Dina looked over to the taxi driver and swore to herself as she knew the driver had heard her which made her adjust her cowl over her features as she smoothly waved her hand to her left waist.

The air-taxi driver gave her a momentary glance with a shrug as he pulled up to 500 Republica which Dina smiled to herself.

As she looked over to Kai as he looked back to her and smiled.

"We are here," He said as the taxi driver pulled up to a landing pad within the single-tower apartment with many parked speeders about. Dina hopped out with Kai paying the fare to the driver.

She looked about as there was a slight chill in the breeze as she tightly wrapped her robe about her body as she waited for Kai to join her side.

"Well, the apartment is on the 500th floor, door 585J." Remembering Master Kota's implicit instructions given to him before they left the battle above Kuat's facilities.

Dina's mind was elsewhere also for a moment and nodded to Kai's instructions. As they both headed into the apartment block entrance.

A silver-plated protocol droid approached the two.

"Welcome to 500 Republica, would you like for me to take your coats and cloaks, gentlebeings?" The droid observed at the tall bulk form of Kai as he was dressed in a see-through fish-net singlet overlayed by a vest and a chain around his neck.

"No thank you, we are fine." Dina interjected before the droid could comment on Kai's choice of clothing or lack thereof.

Upon arrival, Kai and Dina entered a small reception room, decorated in azurite, from which they took the turbolift to their apartment. There was a collective buzz about the place, as bodies were moving about from what they could before stepping into the turbolift, were various sentient beings.

"I wonder how did he obtain an apartment in a place as plush as this, it feels like I was back in Hell's Kitchen." Dina commented quietly as Kai pressed for their floor.

"You know somethings are better left unknown, Dina. If I thought about everything on how he obtains whatever he manages to get, I woul

IC: Jay Ahr (Kavalad Imperial Guard), Café on the KOSP
    Location: Kavala orbit, Ursa system

Seated in a KOSP café-bar with time on his hands before he had to signal Lermontov for further instructions, the KIG team leader sat at the short counter just inside the glased front of the establishment, and gazed out at the tourists and spacers mingling along the pedways, beings of all races and persuasions.

He raised a ?Fart in a Jar?, a bubbly, milky concoction (he was still on the clock, so no alchohol) to absent colleagues, those who hadn?t made it back from Operation Blindside, and thought back to a time when he had served before with Mike Lowry and Marcus Burnett, the ones who had taken down Mygeeto?s shields and circumvented the planet?s hypervelocity guns to take down their own defense fleet.

After the incident at Fou'uul the Hutt?s palace on Nar Shadaa, where the Ledaren?s Wookiee allies had been impregnated by some kind of bio-mechanical alien; an invoice for sixty B2-model battledroids had been found, with delivery instructions to another of the Hutt?s properties; and Mike?s three-person fire team, with Jay observing, had been dispatched.

There had been signs of fighting as they traveled deeper into the fortress, and along with blaster and acid scorched corridors lined with B2s, their photoreceptors all aiming in one direction.
Also, they hadn?t encountered any organics, sentient or otherwise, bigger than rodents, throughout the whole place, although there were several trails of dried brown running down the centre of each hallway, going in the same direction.

?What do you think, Rikke?? Mike had asked of the only female member of the team, nodding at the dried trails running the length of the deathly quiet corridor.

?Well it?s not Hutt slime. Could be blood.? She pursed her mouth at the conundrum, then licked a finger of her brown insulated glove, and dropped to one knee.

"Whoa!" Though it wasn?t his place, Jay grabbed her by shoulders before she could dip her finger into the mess. ?Hold on, what do you think you are doing??

?Going to taste it; if its coppery, its human.?

?This isn?t the Expansionist Era. Don?t you watch CSI: Coruscant? They have swab-sticks now, you wet it with a solution, dip it in, and if it turns blue, its blood.?

Mike chuckled. ?He?s right, Rikke. Stand up. We?ll follow it, whatever it is.?

The trails had led them to a spiraling stairwell in grey stone, at the base of which, they located a huge round hangar that looked like it had been laser-carved from natural rock as one giant piece, and brought over to join the rest of the keep. Impressive, but then, Hutts were never subtle, and this Fou?uul was no exception.

In the centre of the space, under a domed metal cover that looked like it irised open and closed with about ten overlapping petals, sat a large blocky vessel, its hull pitted and scarred. A gaping black square was almost level with the hangar floor, whilst the cockpit was one or two storeys above it, jutting out of the front in a rounded beak of metal and transparisteel

    No-one recognised the type.

?Looks like they left the door open for us.? Marcus commented, gesturing with the barrel of his blocky DC-17m blaster carbine.

?Well, we?re not going that way.? Jay put in.

?Not your decision; you are just observing.? Mike pointed out.

Jay had looked back at the man, whilst Rikke and Marcus watched them both. ?Observing because I have seen these things before. Trust me on this. Besides, if this vessel brought them from another planet, possibly their homeworld, the details are going to be in the cockpit. Quickest entry point to the cockpit? Through the cockpit window. I say we scale the hull, blow the windshield, and get in that way.?

    Wreckage, Senate Building, Coruscant

Before the Blue Guard had a chance to respond to Han's crude negotiation skills, a loud clattering from behind gave way to hushed voices and startled yelps of surprise as the political entourage of senators and assistants finally clambered out of the makeshift hole in the wall. It was about time. Han offered the Captain of the Guard a cynical smirk in parting and turned on his heel to face the newcomers, pulling the blade from his belt in case things got hairy. He didn't intend to use it, but judging by the looks of the big, intimidating being with blue skin and horns that came through the entryway first, he may not have any other choice.

"...and who are you?? a gravelly voice suddenly resounded from somewhere close by, effectively forcing Han's attention away from the blue being to search the area with frantic eyes. After several tense seconds, his gaze finally came to rest on another tall being standing just beyond the horned Chagrain. An elderly human with a commanding stance, he had a sunken face and deep, penetrating eyes. Han inwardly winced and bit his lower lip as he tried to conjure up a response.

"Oh, you know," he shrugged with an unusually calm disposition. "I'm just the point man. If these guys need something..." he made a wide sweeping gesture with his hand, indicating the Blue Guards and Vos in one motion. "They come to me and I, uh...point 'em in the right direction." A nervous smile crossed his face as he once again shoved the blade into his belt for safe keeping.

It was a lame joke and one he was almost certain the uppity political types would not appreciate, but he had to try nonetheless. As it turned out, it wasn't just the pompous Senators who seemed to have ill feelings towards his remarks, but Vos appeared on edge as well. With a dark gaze that spoke more volumes than any reprimand, the Kiffu indicated for Corellian to join him at his side as he addressed their guests in the "proper" manner.

Obeying in silent irritation, Han simply rolled his eyes and navigated his way through the junk until he was standing at Vos' side. He found himself wanting to jump into the conversation more than once, especially after the decrepit old man insulted him a second time, but he stayed his hand. Vos obviously knew what he was doing, even if his words proved to be a load of bantha fodder, but Han doubted he could do better. There were very few beings out there of the professional sort who would listen to a kid just passing into adulthood. It didn't help that Han looked much younger than his eighteen years - he figured he would have to work on that.

Finally, the motley crew of politicians and adventurers began to move down the corridor, the red interior passing by them in a crimson tide until they ultimately reached the turbolift tubes and split up into two different groups. It was here that Vos took the opportunity to approach the young Corellian and speak with him one on one. Han watched with furrowed brow as the Kiffu placed a hand on his shoulder and began in hushed tones. He knew he wasn't gonna like where this was going.

?I need you to do something for me, young one. Take this codex and return to the Stellarus.

Han's frown deepened as he tried to process what the Kiffu had just said. "The Stellarus? But--" He was cut off as Vos transferred the datacard into his grip. He glanced down briefly at the object before closing his fist around it, his gaze returning to the Kiffu. There was more.

"In my quarters there are two lockers, plug it in and retrieve the box in the top locker. And whatever you do, don?t open the lower compartment. Inside that box you will find a crystal? I want you to hang onto it for me. When the time comes, I will ask you for it. Until then, you?ll have to figure some things out on your own. Now, go??

"Go?" he scoffed indignantly, not wanting to believe what he had just heard as he turned the

Tim led the guest officer down the corridor to a turbolift large enough to accomodate Uvye?s squad, should he decide to retrace the route, and bring them along.

The lift went down several deck, and opened onto the larty deck, L4, dominated by a huge segmented carousel set into the floor, which carried the Low Altitude Assault Transports into the Repair and Maintenance shops, and then carried them out into the deployment areas.

Bayliss gestured to a grey-suited human operating the conveyor system. ?Bring in the Colonel?s larty, please.?

?Sir.? The standing operator pressed a large black button on the panel before him, and the carousel immediately emitted a loud mechanical hum as it moved from right to left, bringing a series of larties, in various states of repair, into and then out of, view. Eventually, the transport system stopped, and a glistening white, unmarked LAAT/i sat before them. It?s cockpit was unmanned, and the sliding doors on both sides of the passenger/cargo bay were slid back and locked open.

Bayliss turned to Uvye, and made a sweeping gesture towards the craft. ?Colonel. Your chariot awaits.?

Behind the officer's back, the machine operator rolled his eyes.

"It's alright, Agent. I know what you mean." Her image waved her understanding.

"Yeah, we are curious as to why you are doing this as a conference call?"

"Including the situation at Naboo, there are four Order 66 incidents being reacted to, by Imperial and planetary authorities."

"FOUR?!" Nifesta's supine image echoed in surpruise. The human and rodian aboard the jedi cruiser, knew how he felt.

"Are the Order running missions that we don't know about?"

"If we were," Johmer put in, "we would be being a darn sight more subtle about it."

There was a pause, then, "Now why is everyone looking at me?" Nifesta protested, only half seriously. "Where are the reports coming from; I will tell you if we were involved."

Lim looked aside at a readout that was outside the range of her holo-cam. "Okay. There were two from Coruscant. Both aboard the Holo Network News skyhook, if that rings any bells."

Juru walked over to the transport inspecting it, looking for any problems that may have gone unnoticed by the maintenance crews, though it was doubtful they would let a scratch on the paint go without touch-up.

He turned back to the Major, ?Very good Major. Excellent work; your crews should be commended for a fine job.?

He continued his inspection of the LAAT. ?My men will find this suitable for the job. I will send them down at once to load up and await departure.?

He saluted the Major and walked back to the lift to his quarters.

This is the third and last installment of a joint post with MOO! Thank you, MOO!

    IC: Soobie, Sabe, and Artoo
LOCATION: Lord Vader's Senate office, Imperial Center

The double doors parted to admit Ms. Soobie. ?You wished to see me, your Majesty,? said Soobie entering breathlessly having sprinted back from the landing pad down the corridor from the staff pool to Vader?s office. She glanced down at the little astro-mech plugged into a port at the other side of the desk next to the seated Queen Amidala. The aid winced a bit and hopped as discretely as possible from one foot to the other.

All her work days since being attached to the Executor?s office had never given her the slightest indication that Soobie should not be perfectly comfortably in the lovely matching pair of light blue stiletto ankle boots that gave her short frame some much desired stature.

One day, the first week of her employ in this position, the Executor had called for a senior staffer even as she stood under his nose! She?d determined then and there that, though he?d been perfectly aware she stood ready to serve, her keen lack of height had certainly not helped in the impression she was old enough to hold said position.

    Her toes now throbbed!

Note to self. No more high heeled boots at work!

The Naboo?s breath caught, as Soobie entered, and quickly palming her storage device yet again, Sabe exited the computer system?s library with a quick and light tap. A broad smile still resided on her face as she looked up at the aide. She gave a quick glance to R2, and cursed silently that the little droid had almost but not yet circumvented Anakin?s encryption that made a puzzle of the data. "So?ah? how goes it, Ms Soobie? What progress? Any word from the Ursean Embassy?"

Gliding her hand over the astro-mech?s dome, Sabe stood and approached the aide still speaking and halting Soobie?s progress. "Not to be paranoid, but if there are any personnel you do not trust out in the inner offices, dismissed them for now, Ms Soobie," said Sabe not entirely certain she should keep Soobie around either after Quest?s sudden intrusion into the office.

"Ah? Yes, your Majesty, already done," said Soobie, certain she?d met with disfavor, ?and I've just seen Councilor Quest and the Bene Gesserit off to the Embassy as Lord Vader requested!" Perhaps, her speediness would prove her worth, and she began to speak further, but was too late. ?The Ursean Emb...?

"Bene Gesserit?" said Sabe as Soobie glanced to the desk from which Sabe had risen.

"Um?Sister Alia, Majesty. She came with Lord Vader and Dr. Molita on board Executor. She's from the Union," said Soobie, somewhat distractedly, still regarding curiously the open monitor on Vader?s desk.

"Oh Powers! The Union!" Sabe rolled her eyes.

"Yes, Majesty," said Soobie, stepping forward a little, Sabe countering subtly, "The Bene Gesserit's the one with the ... Spice... you know... they inhaled the Spice for ... visions. They're a bit ... eccentric..."

"I agree and arrogant. I've had conflicts with them." Sabe hid her distaste, and sat on the corner of the desk, blocking Soobie?s path. "I don?t trust the presence of this Sister Alia and Councilman Quest can be better managed at the Ursean Embassy. I'm sure they?ll know what to do with them there. The Ursean?s can make a house arrest seem like an intervention vacation," said Amidala with some personal knowledge and chuckling she added, ?By the time they are finished with the two of them, Quest and the Sister will think the visit was all their idea!?

Soobie, disarmed by the Queen?s humor laughed, though she wasn?t particularly certain why!

"I don't know how long Lord Vader will be out of commission. Hours, days?! The people are reassured with a leader in place, since Palpatine?s demise. There are those who must be plotting though. This is a crucial time and there?s no doubt, without Lord Vader actively and visibly at the helm, we invite trouble from destabilizing forces!" Sabe stood again and tapped on the edge of the desk in some c

    Location: Hyperspace

Juru walked back through the long corridor to his guest quarters about the ship. Many of the naval crewmembers coming towards him stepped aside, stopped and stood at attention as he passed them. His off-white uniform and imposing demeanor was easy to spot aboard the ship. Juru approached his door and looked back down the passageway. Many of the Imperial naval types still continued to hold their at-attention positions, waiting for him to disappear inside.

The door closed with a whoosh behind him, triggering the illuminators to brighten the dark room. He immediately went to his locker and pulled out his combat uniform. Upon removing his uniform, he turned and looked at his bare back in the mirror. The black inserts were clearly visible between his shoulder blades. There were four inserts that snaked directly into his spinal column, each one with a different purpose. He specifically asked for the beta-version when it was first created.

?Are you sure about this Colonel? We are not 100% sure that they will work properly. The procedure itself could cripple you.? The Imperial surgeon and lead researcher told Juru.

?Anything to give me an edge in my job is worth the risk, doctor.? Juru was deadpan serious.

The surgeon sighed deeply. He was sure that the Colonel had a screw loose somewhere but he did need a test subject and he was hoping for a lowly trooper not a full-bird Colonel.

?Very well sir.? He gestured to the table in his office. ?Please lay on your stomach. I will start with the local anesthesia first.?

Now, after two years, the inserts were still working. The first one shot a stimulant into his nervous system allowing him to remain awake for days. The second and third were anesthesia inserts. It would deploy when the nocioreceptors fired off frantic signals to his parietal lobe. The third one was special and a request of his. It contained highly potent anabolics which could increase his strength and rage.

He slipped his combat shirt on over his shoulders and muscular frame. A special pad was placed over the inserts to protect them from direct blunt force but there was always a danger. One his cargo pants were secured along with his combat boots, he strapped on his webbing and electronics equipment. From his goggles he could get up-to-the-minute read outs on the mission via the ship?s net, his team?s vital stats and a read out of the terrain again via the ship?s network. His equipment and team were highly modified from the regular army. His men were trained in counterinsurgency, espionage, snatch and bag missions and plain old assassinations. They were deadly shadows.

Locked and loaded he left his quarters and walked to his team room. The men were already geared up for the mission as though they could read their commander?s mind. He looked at their dark faces, ?It is time.?

One by one they walked out into the corridor, Juru in the lead. His men were very much like him, tall, powerful-looking and fearsome behind their masks. Many crewmembers moved against the wall to give the team a clear path to the lift. In some cases a look of fear swept across some faces, others were in awe.

    [image=http://blogs.pcworld.co.nz/pcworld/products/Spartan%20Warrior%20lo%20res.JPG]

The ride down to the hangar bay where the LAAT was waiting for them was brief. Once in front of the transport, the team went quickly to work without a word said between them. It seemed as though they were one collective mine. Then again, the earpiece built inside the helmet and snuggly molded to the inner-ear of each soldier allowed them to whisper but sound as though they were speaking at a normal level. Only they could hear each other within the helmets.

Juru walked back over to Major Bayliss and stood in front of the man. ?We will be prepped within 30 minutes, is this sufficient for you??

-Brief History: Kol studied at Neo College in the field of law enforcement for seven years and earned his degree in Criminal Justice with top honours. Shortly afterwards, he joined 6th Precinct - Coruscant Municipal Police as a newly minted Police Officer while he was still studying at Uni. It was good pay for a student. He advanced in a short amount of time obtaining his Master's degree and was ready to pursue his dream of becoming a Homicide Detective.

He joined Coruscant Police Academy and once there, he bucked for a position with the lively and prestigious Senate District in his early years to build his experience and rise through the ranks. He learned a great deal in his first years from police procedures and law enforcement tactics moving quickly toward his goal of becoming a Homicide Detective.

Three years later in uniform as a cadet officer, he was promoted to Detective, a position just short of the Homicide Division. Homicide handled the more complex cases, serial murders, cold cases, homicides related to crime syndicates or those with politically sensitive witnesses or victims. He?d need to acquire important skills in investigation before he could advance.

Kol, after a few more years of being a Detective, collaring and chasing down impassioned spouses and drug addled perps, working overtime, putting in extra effort where other Detectives slacked off managed to overcome his superiors? disdain for his seeming insubordinate attitude ? they could never really pin him for it. Though they tried to find a reason not to do so, Kol was promoted to Homicide by dent of his hard efforts and persistence.

For 27 years, Kol has worked steadily, reasonably content with his bachelor estate ? a warm meal and bed when he chose and a warm seat in his office at the 6th Precinct - Coruscant Municipal Police. He was the only Coruscanti Homicide Detective to be given the title and rank of Intergalactic Homicide Detective, having cracked the infamous and grizzly Zodiac Killer case. The Zodiac Killer was a serial killer who stalked victims along parts of the Perlemian Trade Route. Through a series of cryptic letters he sent to the press and others, he disclosed his insanity which motivated the killings, offered clues to future murder plots and adopted the name Zodiac.

Claiming responsibility for 37 victims, he managed to elude capture. Investigators confirmed that seven people were attacked by the Zodiac, five of which died, all ISB agents. The case spanned several planets from Coruscant, Corulag, Chandrila, Brentaal, Esseles, to Rhinnal and Ralltiir, all along the Perlemian Trade Route. Solving this case earned Kol the rank which earned him the begrudging respect from ISB.

If not de jure, the Galaxy was Kol?s jurisdiction, de facto, which has led him to many places to further his investigative skills by learning from other cultures. For the last few years Kol has been keeping an extreme low profile down in Homic

    Ic Jon Matrix

    Location The Basement, Yavin base

After the small group had finished with greeting each other, they seemingly fell into an awkward silence. No one knowing quite were to look or what to say. Then almost on cue the doors of the Basement slid open and in strode Mon Mothma, Admiral Ackbar and General Dodonna, again greetings were expressed but there was one thing that Mon Mothma said that caught Jon attention.

?Pardon our tardiness but we were busy discussing the finds from the Naboo dossier,? stated Mon Mothma, affably with a serene smile.

The Naboo dossier? What the hell was that? Jon then made a mental note that he would get Biggs to fill him in on the details of the mission he had just returned from. And then with his normal no fuss approach Ackbar requested that the meeting be a closed one, with that the guards left the room and now all that was left was the high command.

With that each person present took there seats around the huge circular table, Torian was clearly sat at the head of the table and was flanked on either side by Dodonna and Ackbar, Matrix mean while was sat roughly in the middle with Biggs on his left side and on his right Mon Mothma.

    ?Hi? Jon said sheepishly.

Then besides Biggs was the Jedi master and General Yueh completing the circle. After a few moments everyone composed themselves and the meeting began. Jon reached over to the middle of the table and pulled a jug of water and a glass towards him and as Torian rose from his seat Matrix poured himself a drink. As Torian began to walk around and talk about the reported death of the Emperor Jon sat back and drank from his ice cold water.

Jon nodded his agreement of there leader assessment of the current situation, as it was pretty much what he himself had been thinking.

He continued around the table, stopping behind his wife. ?This complicates things possibly for some here but not everyone.?

Jon began to relax as Torian and General Yuch bickered amongst themselves but what the old man said almost caused him to choke on his drink.

He looked around the room before continuing. ?Before I brief you on the strategy that Commander Matrix has worked up for us in his spare time, I would like to hear from you all.?

Jon's face turned slightly red as he finished his coughing fit, Torian had just dropped him in the bantha podo big time. This 'strategy' that was being spoke of, had been nothing more than than ideas spit balled between himself and the old man. Taking another drink of his water and composed himself for his moment in the spot light, of course before he could inform the high council of his ?plans? there Jedi advisor master Mi-to would speak before him.

Looking over towards Emi-to Jon could not help but notice that the Jedi was seemingly a million miles away, there was a brief lull before she spoke. Matrix could not help but notice that the normally ice cool Emi-to, to his untrained eye anyway, seemed a little flustered. Jon was also a little surprised that Torian was advising caution, it was of course the correct move but the old Torian would have been the first one calling for blood and demanding that the Alliance take full advantage of the situation.

In Jon's eyes it was a sign that the old fella was growing into his role as and becoming a great leader, now more so than ever Matrix was sure they had the right guy in charge of the group of freedom fighters. With Emi-to all but confirming reports of Palpatines death she asked a question, did they know how it happened.

It was General Yuch who answered her question ?Our early Intel

Bare arms crossed in front of her, Lim allowed the interplay to continue without interruption; this was all information that she was learning, one thing that her agents had in common being the complete inability to call and say ?hi?.

?Yeah, no long term effects. About four masters and knights out for the count, all apart from Master C?Boath for some strange reason.?

The synthdroid stepped in. ?This conference is, of course, security encrypted, but perhaps we could minimise the use of names and locations??

    ?Yes, sorry. Of course.?

?Proceed, Agent Nifesta.? Beyond the semi-transparent holo-images, an expansive rectangle of transparisteel gave a view out the front of the bridge to the pink-tinged starfield at the edge of the nebulae which normally concealed the Base Ship. A pair of light-brown old-style Vulture droid starfighters floated by in a standard patrol formation, their side weapons? pods sealed in non-combat mode to protect the delicate laser emitters from micro-matter damage.

?By time we awoke, the children had managed to park us inside the HNN skyhook, and during the course of trying to extract ourselves, we attracted a lot of attention from local law enforcement and were forced to defend ourselves. That would be the two Order 66?s reported there.?

?What about the attack on the Galactic Senate?? Devon interrupted, regarding what Master Whie had told him about moments before.
    ?Was that you??

Lim watched Mitch?s horizontal face convey mild puzzlement.
?Master Yoda sensed CHAS? presence on Coruscant, so I immediately executed an SGIS Extra-Judicial Hit on him.? One of the twi?lek?s shoulders momentarily came into shot as he shrugged. ?If someone hit the Senate, it wasn?t us.?

Lim nodded, silently watching the agent. She knew, via the original Lim?s memories, that the Extraordinary Powered Entity that was Mitch Nifesta, had primarily been recruited to combat dark jedi and their ilk, for which the rank-and-file agents had been ill prepared. There might not be any records attesting to the order, but the hit on Vader, she was satisfied that the agent believed it to have been sanctioned.

?CHAS.? Johmer echoed uncertainly. ?That?s vader, right? He was at the Senate, Agent.? Johmer advised. ?Declaring himself Emperor.?

?Impossible; Yoda placed him inside the Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction tower, and I smashed that place with three concussion missiles from point blank range. If CHAS declared himself Emperor, it must have been from a skip.? The agent glared out of the image. ?That takes care of two of your six-six reports; the third one??

?Pantolomin. Station P reports that a ship corresponding to one of the Corusant incidents has arrived in-system, and that the Imperial Navy is closing in.?

?Yeah, that?s us again. And we?ll be going in to get her as soon as I am finished here. I?m not lying under my cloaking generator

Many met their death on Kalee, many, mused the Master. Emi was about to continue after Yueh answered her question, but the command were interested in Matrix? initial plans.

Jon had not crafted a battle plan per se, but a strategy. The nervous energy in the room rose considerably as everyone felt that now they might actually take action and make some inroads against the Empire. Matrix was clearly surprised by his own aplomb and Emi smiled inwardly, but there was frankly more here than forming a special ops and setting out to disrupt and pirate weapons and supplies!

There was much to recommend the development of a sound methodical course of incisive strikes to Imperial supply lines and Emi looked up to Torian, however, there a number of consideration and she knew Torian had more on his mind than Matrix had understood.

?General, if I may, we should acquire more field intelligence. There are a number of considerations and variables to address. I might suggest these lines of intel be secured and widened to gain a clearer picture. The expositional ramifications of organized attacks can provide the Imperial intelligence a means to grasp more concerning our bases and operations. We don?t know the supply schedules, the protocols of escorts. We need access to cargo legends and laden. We cannot simply hit whatever comes along! And what about the stability of the Imperial Government? Do we have an operative on Coruscant,? Emi said wondering about Senator Organa and still the circumstances surrounding Palpatine?s death, it bothered her. ?Our actions might best be informed by that information. No sense exposing our scarce resources when our efforts are not tactically efficient and ? there is more at stake than meets the eye.? She again glanced to Torian.

He put his chin to his chest again and absorbed his wife?s advice. Operations required intelligence, good intelligence. Organic intel was always the best. It was true they should collect cargo legends, supply schedules, security, and supply routes.

?I agree with the Jedi Master. We need more information before we run out and attack anyone. So far we have been more reactionary in nature. Now with the Empire in disarray, if that is the correct word, we should be more methodical.? He turned to General Yueh, ?Of course nothing would give me more pleasure than to fly into the center of the Galaxy and kill them all.?

General Yueh smiled at comment from the Supreme Commander.

He continued to look at the General, but changed his demeanor and tone. ?The information gathered by our intelligence net will shape our military operations. I will not send our troops out to fight blindly and waste resources. Aside from that, our soldiers are well-trained and ready to cut their teeth under my command when the time comes.?

He walked around the table. It seemed to help him craft his next words. ?As for complications?some of you are already aware of this but Vader had a son with Padme Amidala. He is safely hidden from his father for now.? He continued to pace. ?I know some things about the Jedi and one of those is destiny. The strongly believe in it and it is something I will not interfere with either.?

He stopped again to face the hawkish General, ?I believe the Moffs are more powerful and have more resources at their fingertips to overthrow Vader, if indeed the Emperor is dead. The Moffs will stop at nothing to get rid of him.?

General Yueh shifted in his seat and listened.

?We strike at weakness and avoid their strengths. If the Moffs concentrate their firepower on Coruscant then Vader must do the same.?

He walked back over to his chair and sat down. He continued, ?As for now we need good intel. We need to contact Organa on Coruscant and find out what is really happening there now.? He turned to MonMothma, ?Can you make that happen??
