I know that feeling of frustration, been there a few times. Still have games here that I have never finished because I got to a point that proved so frustratingly annoying I just gave up.

Really? Wow, all the games I own that I haven't finished weren't finished because I upgraded before finishing them only to discover that the new specs were to advanced for the old game.
I'm persistant and stubborn, I don't let games beat me, even if it takes me years (and in some cases it has)...

Well in all honesty I don't have many like that. I have gone back to a few of them after years and managed to complete it. A fresh view helps I guess.

M_S I play a different HL mod than CS. I play the WW2 mod, Day of Defeat. I'm waiting for DoD:Source.

Don't worry about the 1337z0rs tryhards. They play the game all day every day. I find it better to play a game that's realatively new, and develop skills and mates over some time in the game on the same servers.

Am I the only one who plays games multiple times? My flatmates think I'm completely crazy...

Nope, not at all, I re-play games all the time. And another, related point, I don't get all these people who deride linear games as having absolutely no replay value. Sure, they're not different every time you play them, but neither are movies every time you watch them (unless they're directed by George Lucas.... :p). But people still like to re-watch movies, right? Well, I do, anyway. If it's an experience I enjoy, be it a game or movie, I don't mind having that same experience again, even if it's exactly the same.

I just had another go at the Doom3 demo, trying to decide if I should buy it or not.

I played and quite enjoyed the demo, but I wouldn't buy the game at full-price. If I ever happen to see it on discount I might pick it up, otherwise I just want to borrow it off someone and play it that way. It's gorgeous to look at (perfect for showing off my shiny new video card ;)) and incredibly intense, atmospheric and scary, but from what I hear, it's all the same stuff over and over. Fun, but not $90 worth of fun.

I can't agree with you more there, I've played games over many times simply because the experience was just too good to do so once.

There nothing wrong with playing games heaps of times! I can not remember how many times I have played each of the C&C games :p :p Mostly I love the hot chicks in it, eg Tania and Zofiya. RA2 is my fave ever.

Oooh oooh I heard there will be a Civilization IV released late this year! :D :D :D :D Apparently it will be RTS. Hopefully the worlds in it will actually be spherical this time :p

And of course, wWestwood announced last year Red Alert 3 !!! :)

I was wondering if Westwood would continue with yet another C&C game.

Electronic Boutique have had a 2 for $50 sale on for a week or so now, it's still running. You can get, for example, an X-Box game and a PC game, or a PS2 game and a Controller, or 2 PC games, or whatever.

They even have box DVD sets in the sale.

Worth a look anyway. I'm waiting for the local stores (Maroochydore/Kawana) to get Battlefield 1942: Reloaded (BF42/RtR/SW-WW2) and Tribes: Vengance back in stock on that sale. Over $100 of games for $50.

Yeah I had a look but they didn't have anything there that I either already had or wanted. Oh well.

*Breaks through the soil and pulls self out*

Soon I should be getting my computer upgraded and now that I have a job, I can get some games!

I really want to get Battlefield 2, World of Warcraft and DoD: Source when it comes out.

Is anybody interested in the XBox 360? I'm contemplating buying one next year. Or should I get a PS3? [face_thinking]

I'm very interested in the Xbox 360 after seeing the videos for Ghost Recon 3 and Gears of war. GR3 Looks ***damn amazing - so realistic! I can't wait until some screenshots for HALO 3 come out!

Has anyone else heard of a new Star Wars RTS game coming out for PC called Empire at War? It looks great - not only do you command troops on the ground but there's also massive space combat action as well.

Nah, I'm not interested in either the XBox or PS3. I'm a PC gamer and proud of it. I'm in the process of shopping around for a full system upgrade right now, and once I've got the money in a week or two I'll be getting all the stuff and building the system myself.

And M_S, I can highly recommend Battlefield 2, but you'd better have one serious PC if you want to play it with the settings cranked up. We're talking top-shelf video card and at LEAST a full gig of RAM. Eitherwise things can get a bit flaky. Awesome game, though.

My Gaming team (Jägermeister War Clan) plays DoD, and we're waiting for DoD: Source to come out. At the moment we're in a Day of Defeat 5 team invitational comp, and playing Battlefield 2 like there's no tomorrow.
Our first BF2 match is coming up in a few weeks, I'm not playing that yet as I'll need broadband.

My PC is on the borderline of PCs able to run the game. P4 3.0, 512ram, 128mb Asus vid card.. My computer's not even a year old. :( But it's an awesome game, especially if you squad up.

From what I've heard, XBox 360 seems to be the console to go with if you're a console person.
