This is the greatest debate of all time. If it could be taken to a court of law it would be the Trial of the Century. This is greater than any other conversation ever held in the history of all human cultures and civilizations. George Lucas himself, despite having crafted the scene in his infinite wisdom, is probably nonetheless watching this thread with the keenest fascination, bewildered by his own scene, unsure himself, as the creators of nuclear weapons must have watched their invention's deployment and subsequent shockwaves on the field of international politics with knotted stomachs.

On the one hand, Yoda may have only knocked them out. On the other hand...he may have killed them. Are they the same guys from Return of the Jedi? NO ONE KNOWS! IT IS LIKE THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, A METAPHOR FOR ALL HUMAN UNCERTAINTY IN THE FACE OF A UNIVERSE NO MIND CAN FULLY COMPREHEND!

There is no dark side of the moon. It's all dark.

He doesn't kill the lame guards he just blasts them and knocks them out for a bit. He'd only kill them if he really had to. It's not like Yoda runs around and enjoys killing. I'm sure he doesn't use Vapaad.;)

I don't think it's even a question: They were knocked out! I certainly wouldn't put it past a Sith to administer a lethal Force-knockout, but it is most certainly "not the Jedi way"--or at least not Yoda's! I think the Jedi might have a technique that they use to tweak someone's nervous system just enough to put them down for a little nap. (Perhaps there's some EU material out there that would bear this out? :D)

I think there might even be a parallel between Yoda knocking out the Emperor's guards and Luke knocking out the Gamorrean guards at the entrance to Jabba's palace in ROTJ! I admit, that looked more like a non-lethal Force-choke, but I think the aforementioned nerve-tweaking methodology might still apply

Sorry, but this is worse than the "Greedo shot first" crap. Come on.

Yoda wakes up. The guards do not. As for those of you that think this thread is terribly serious.................

Reading this I read numerous remarks about the uselessness of Red Guards. To be quite honest in the end Skirmish of Labyrinth of Evil the Red Guards show they are superior to the Body Guards of General Grievous. So the IG-100 series Magna Guards are the most formidable fighters after Jedi and Sith in EP III but the red-robed Royal Guardsmen are superior.

Hello everyone (first post here after a hiatus from the 3NS forum).

One of the guards was treated for a dislocated shoulder, and the other suffered a fractured tibia. The guard with the fractured tibia shared a hospital room with Vader, and said he was glad when he checked out (the wheezing kept him up all night).

Glad I could help settle this debate ;-)

I agree, just look at how hard they were SLAMMED to the walls - - The Galactic docters said that they must have suffered a fractured spinal cord (suffering partial paralysis below the waist), extreme whip lash - (workers comp papers were officially filed three weeks later...)and five broken ribs each, resulting in a law suit by each Red Gaurd.

All kidding aside - Sidious probably executed them himself for their apperent lack of vision.

No he wouldn't. But if I was there and wanted to make sure they couldn't wake up and come fight against me later they would be dead as hell. So it wouldn't be needless to kill them. Rather needed I would say

    Greedo shot first?

The Red gaurds of ROTJ where NOT the same ones from ROTS - Palps never kept anyone around THAT long besides his favorite pet - Vader...

    How about we compromise?

The guard on the left died, the guard on the right was knocked out.

    Everybody happy? :)

knocked out. Yoda does not kill people unless they are trying to kill him or they are sith lords. The Guards were just trying to stop him, and not kill him.

Knocked Out. Yoda wouldn't of killed a pratically helpless(agianst Yoda)enemy.
