The greatest facial expressions in Star Wars?

For example:

Chancellor Palpatine before the victory celebration in TPM: He is so friendly and cheerful and jovial! What a bastard!

Emperor Palpatine in ROTJ: When he really gets angry and says to Luke: "So be it, Jedi!" ... *shiver*

Darth Vader's mask!

Han Solo, frozen in carbonite!

And that strange expression on Kenobi's face in ANH, when Luke wants to know how Anakin died...

 

My favorite, without a doubt, is:

In ESB, Han says to Leia "Well your highness, I guess this is it." Leia responds coldly, "That's right." The expression on Han's face right before he says "Well don't get all mushy on me, so long princess" is classic. It's kinda of a fake smirk mixed with veiled hurt. It's great.

 

Another one worthy of mention is Anakin's face after Padme breaks off their first kiss.

The poor guy looks so cut up about it

 

Don't forget Anakin's face when he confesses to Padme that he killed the Sandpeople. The pale face, dark circles around eye, tears flowing down, and that look in his eyes... Dear Force, that was outright scary!!!

On the other hand, Luke's face after Vader tells him that he's his father is so ugly! Bleh!

The look on Han's face in ROTJ when he says incredulously, "Proper?" (when they meet Ewoks for the first time) and Luke just laughs silently, that's so funny!

Besides Kit Fisto's famous "C-3P0 Smirck", I'd have to say the greatest facial expression in Star Wars is Luke's after he finds out that Leia is his sister- so surprising, and funny.

Kind of like Luke is thinking "No..she can't be my sister..she's the first girl I ever kissed. No- no way..I refuse to believe that I wanted to get in the sack with my sis..."

Sooner or later, somebody's gonna mention Obi-Wan's expression in AOTC after the acklay snaps that pike in half.

It's also kinda interesting how, in TPM, the handmaidens keep staring at Padmé for the whole time that Sabé is in her disguise. Talk about a dead giveaway.

PALPATINE: "I love democracy..." (I thought he was about to do a Pinochio and have his nose grow about five yards long!)

OBI-WAN: "You were right about one thing, master. The negotiations were short!" (Ewan's grin and eyes in that one say it all.)

QUI-GON: Just after he's realized he can't force-trick Watto into accepting republic credits. Jedi or not, I bet he wanted to swat Watto like a bug!

YODA: The bit in AOTC where he gives Palpatine that dirty look!

 

Anakin's sexy stare (drools) it sends chills up my spind just thinking about it!

I love that fact it's like something out of a Ray Harryhausen-style film, especially the stabbing motion Kenobi does with the spear, lol.

Luke's expression in ESB is ugly, but it reminds me of when you cry - no-one ever looks good when that happens, and poor Luke is in some serious emotional (and physical) pain when Vader reveals the truth to him. I always like the way Luke sounds in denial for the "that's not true" part, then agonized when he realises that Vader really IS his dad. Cool stuff.

 

Palpatine during his I love democracy speach. That face of his!!! Oh my goodness, kill him already!!!


I have a question, did they use makeup to create those black rings around hayden's eyes or are they natural? Really creepy!

 

That look the Emperor has when he is electricuting Luke that is sacry! But it is so good and intense!

 

It's Palpatine's true nature.
After all the cunning smoothness from the PT, and the sly old-man act in most of ROTJ, he's just totally evil in those moments as he's zapping Luke. Brrr.

"But what senator would have the courage to propose such a radical amendment?" That expression and tone of voice are so transparent, I just want to throttle the Jedi and yell "WAKE THE **** UP!!!!"

In ESB when Yoda is standing on Luke's foot as he's doing the handstand, then the ship starts to sink. Luke looses concentration, and Yoda says "Concentraaaaaaaaaaate" as he's falling over. That's funny.

The look on Leia's face as the Falcon is leaving Cloud City, right before the telepathy thing with Luke.

The look on Padme's face when Mace says, "You know milady Count Dooku was once a Jedi. . ."

The expressions on Ani's face as Shmi dies, particularly when he looks right at the camera like he's about ready to go psycho. (Which he does). They may as well have slapped the black mask on him right there. . .I don't think he could have looked any more evil.

The look on Ani's face when he brings Shmi's body home and he looks right at Cliegg as if he blames him.

"They're like animals. And I slaughtered them like animals. I hate them!"

The look on Luke's face during the binary sunset.

The glance between Owen and Beru when Luke mentions Obi-Wan for the first time.

The look on Obi's face when Luke asks him how Ani died.

Ani's final smile before he dies.

The look on Leia's face when she realizes Vader is her father.

There are a lot of them I like.

 

I know it just freaks me out! [face_shocked] Or that look that Anakin gets when he and Padme were arguing that was actually kinda funny!

 

Its a subtle one, but did you ever notice OB1's expression in the cantina when Han is talking about how fast the Falcon is? When he mentions the Kessel Run the screen cuts to OB1 for a split second, and his expression is classic. Its the best 'you are so full of it' expression in the trilogy.

 

Han Solo's face through the whole trilogy.

The ghost faces of Anakin, Ben, and Yoda at the end of Return of the Jedi.

Also the face of Han after Leia tells him that Luke is her brother in Return of the Jedi.

 

I always love the look on Han's face in ROTJ when him and Luke are on the Jabba's skiff and Luke says "...I've taken care of everything." Han replies, "Oh...great!" That expression cracks me up everytime.

 

Yoda's suspicious look at Palpatine in AOTC.

 

In TPM when Watto rolls the chance cube and he loses, Qui-Gon has this priceless look of: "Hey, whatdya know?" *LOL* It's hilarious - but you have to look to find it.
