Can someone tell me what the whole SW Underworld mini-series was all about? Is it worth getting?

Also, here's another question which I know I've asked before but I've since forgotten the answer. Anyway, my question is, if I buy all of the Classic Star Wars tpbs, will I then have the complete U.K. comic run?

To answer the questions about Classic Star Wars, those TPBs mostly reprint the newspaper comic strips, not the UK original stories.

Classic Star Wars Devilworlds #1,2 reprints some of the UK stories, but only a few. At this point you'd need to track down the old Marvel Illustrated paperbacks or the original issues to get most of the UK stories. Look back in this topic for the last time I posted the list to obtain a checklist of the Marvel U.K. / Pizzazz stories and where they appear.

By the way, SWW stands for "Star Wars Weekly" or "The Empire Strikes Back Weekly" issues from Marvel UK.

I'll post an updated list some time soon.

If either of you are still checking on this thread periodically, could either of you provide a scan of the Sept-Oct 2002 Lego Magazine? Both of you have come through on Lego comic scans in the past, hopefully you can once again.

 

Hmm... You guys should start a Hard-to-Find-Short-Story thread.
Anyway, I had no idea there are that many comics that are hard to find.

 

Almost all the short stories are hard to find nowadays since most of them are in out of print magazines.

 

Underworld is about the hunt for the Yavin Vassilika. A wager by Hutts was placed on who can comission the best team to find it. Han, Lando, Boba Fett, Zuckuss, 4-LOM, Dengar, Bossk, IG-88, Bria Tharen, Jan Dodonna, Jabba the Hutt and a bunch of original characters show up.

Is it rare? 'Cause I have that one too.

I'll probably do a full update sometime this week. I don't think much has changed with regard to recent stuff except for a few TPBs collecting stuff from the ongoing series.

 

Here's the new complete list recap. I also have a few pending items I'd like to have for the next recap:

1) I'd still appreciate it if anyone with the Star Wars Kids newsstand editions (with the UPC symbol on the cover) could do a complete breakdown of the comics in all the issues (#1-10, ? and more) to verify the comic strips contained within them. I only have numbers #1-4. They are different than the Scholastic versions.

2) There may also be other Jedi Lessons strips in various incarnations of Star Wars Kids. We've ruled out the Scholastic Star Wars Kids and Scholastic Star Wars Kids Episode I. Again, I don't know what is in the newsstand editions.

3) I've noticed political-cartoon-type little things in the previous Star Wars Insider issues. I'm not sure whether to count these little one frame cartoons. Anyone else want to comment? If in favor, anyone want to go through SWI back issues to catalog them?

4) Also, let's keep the list of recent Dark Horse comics not yet in TPB up-to-date.

Please correct mistakes and add anything I missed. Anything later reprinted in a TPB is removed including those SOTE previews included with Micro-Machines and ERTL models I previously had listed.

There haven't been any major changes since the last version though.

Don't get Lego Mag, I'm afraid, but I can tell you that there's been no new comics in Lego sets either last year or this. I guess they got chucked.

I also remembered about this e-mail I got two years ago. It's interesting:

Hi there-

We're going to try to eventually republish all of our Star Wars comics in trade paperback form. however, it's probably going to take us a long time to get to some of the series simply because our contract with LucasFilm states that we can only print a certain number of trade paperbacks a year.

Anyone know what is going to reprinted in volumes 2 and 3 of the Clone Wars TPBs?

 

Okay, so it looks like Republic from #49 on and all the new Jedi one-shots are going to be reprinted in the new line of Clone Wars TPBs.

Also Empire: Betrayal is to be in the first Empire TPB.

 

The first part that started off the Rogue Squadron comics is also hard to find. The Rebel Opposition, I think it's called.

Was it that bad? I don't have it yet.

At some point I ran across something in a checklist listing "World of Fire" not only released in the U.S. as the Marvel illustrated paperback, but also as a 3 issue mini-series. Has anyone else seen or heard of this?

Most of the stories you listed are not comic book stories, but short prose stories or vignettes. They do not qualify for this topic. I have been planning to put together a short story list for my never-finished web page, but have obviously never finished it.

 

Accepted DK. By the way is there not someone we can e mail at Dark Horse about the reprint questions? I remember a rumour that someone from DH posts on JC forums quite regularly.
