!? Keep an eye on it on Amazon UK. They may not get stock but Book Depository are likely to. They won't list it on their own site but tend to instead list on Amazon Marketplace, dunno why, but have seen the pattern before as this is how I got Queen's Peril.

The next two LFL Press High Republic books are available for preorder - getting it in early looks the best bet.

 

Yeah, I've used Book Depository in the past. Takes a bit longer as they normally use Royal Mail but I've gotten everything I've ordered from them.

 

Completed reading Into the Dark, found it a fun adventure book. One character stood out and in my opinion is the most solid Star Wars character ever ...

Luckily I preordered mine a while back and received it today.

One disappointment i have with the SW books in general; the varying sizes of the books. Considering that Lucas/Disney control everything about SW I would have thought that they would have demanded a standard size for the hardcover books and a standard size for the softcover ones. Yet, the two High Republic hardcover books that I have got so far are both different sizes.

 

Oh, volume size inconsistency is only going to get worse when you add in the junior hardbacks and comic TPBs (and hopefully OHCs).

 

But even so, the covers have different ratios

How are the books of the high republic so far on a 1 to 10 scale?

 

So far, two of the best I've read in ages - this one is next.

 

i say this one is an 8, light of the jedi is a 9.

 

Don't overlook A Test of Courage.

 

I like LOTJ I just don’t love it...probably because of the more lore heavy books and not character driven

can’t wait to get into the other ones though

 

Oh yeah forgot about it, i say it's between 7 and 8.

 

eh I would say 6.5-7 for most. Ok not great/ Light is the best, but it slows WAY down in the middle.

 

Really liked this one - it continues Gray's string of excellent SW books.

It has a very solid addition to SW' extended cast of characters in Geode.

It also highlights flaws in the Jedi, both individual and collective, but while it certainly challenges it, it doesn't shatter the optimism established by LotJ either. It's a very fine, careful balance that in less skilled hands than Gray's would have likely gone awry. The weaving in of Leox' asexuality was well done too.

The Drengir are, well, short of Bad Breath, they are basically lightsaber resistant, but not lightsaber immune, Final Fantasy Marlboros and the only question left to ask of them is why did it take SW so long to steal them? The full revelation of what happened with them is very effective.

And then there is Nihil who are, well, the Jedi will disagree, but the only good Nihil is a dead one. There's no mind-frelling going on here, every single one of them presented so far has been fully aware of what they doing, of having chosen it and are very clearly not changing any time soon. So be it..... Nihil.

Overall, it's probably one of the most ambitious books of the YA range and certainly one of the biggest.

 

Oh, so that's what triggered the Geode internet indignation eruption?

 

Yup, as well as the fan-made concept art that's been floating around. People are absolutely incensed that there's a rock in Star Wars, largely because YouTubers have told them they should be incensed.

 

I say to just let them scream into the abyss, Geode is the best character ever
