Cool cover. It seems Elzar looks different though in almost every depiction he has.

While I am glad the High Rep has an end and will end, and also glad it will continue to be expanded in other ways, I feel any end they may come up with will fall short of expectations despite great authors.

Don't get me wrong, but we had how many books, comics and stuff in this huge project? Way more than the NJO ever had. We had a plethora of threats and challenges and characters all. How in the 7 hells of Corellia can a single book end that with giving each and every one its due time and end?

I feel what we need is a Matt Stover level of emotional epicness paired with a Luceno level interconnectivity and loredump spiced with a Troy Denning specialty for epic scales.
If anything, this book project deserves more than most others to transcend into live action. Imagine a finale in live action? That would be cinema worthy. At the very least they should cast for an incredible book trailer like the TOR MMO trailers.

Also while the era can stand on its own without the Sith in hiding, I feel still it is a waisted opportunity to not bring them in in the last moment. Not because they need to be attached to everything. They don't! But as huge as this era and story got, we need to see what the Sith think of it, how they made it worse without revealing themselves probably and how they connect to it. But maybe not in a story within this book project but one expanding it after the fact to tell the other side and how it connects for I doubt they would sit idly by while someone else finds ways to eradicate their Jedi enemies for them, nor would they miss out on the political opportunities or even the danger to their own plans if the galaxy splinters and they have not only to take over the Republic later on but also other states like Nihil Space. Or how the Sith could exploit harmless Forcecults like the Path and the Potentium and other Sorcerers etc. like on Jedha to undermine the Jedi for centuries to come.
Unless the current Sith in hiding is none other than the one Baneite not megalomanic but interested in other stuff... like f.e. Darth Vectivius and such before later Sith pre-Plagueis before Acolyte returned to kickstarting their galactic plans for the PT.

Long story short, can't wait how Charles Soule will kill the author lots fav characters and toys one by one, star by star.

That synopsis really shows how complex things have gotten and it seems like NOTHING will be resolved until the final book, that is really annoying honestly.

This feels rather deja vu... albeit deja vu +20 years ago, pre-TUF.

I hope Soule nails it in an enduring way like Luceno did TUF.

Any threads left that aren't basically Ro, the Nameless and the Stormwall can be picked up in stories set in the era. Sort of like the Legends NR era was effectively the extended wrap up of Imperial Remnants after the Sith were dethroned.

THR doesn't need to be concluded as cleanly as NJO was to succeed. Just definitively with the main antagonists.

    I dunno.

On one hand, I think the obstacles the writers gave the Jedi, inclusive of the nameless, the drengir, the blight, and the storm wall can easily be buttoned-up in about 20 pages. On the other hand, the sprawling character landscape lends itself to superficial wrap ups at best; I mean, who really cares what happens to Qort or Dr. Uttersond, right?, and as such, it does seem within the realm of possibility that the writers address this sprawling character landscape by using Marchion to unleash an annihilating final solution upon the Jedi Order.

Either way, it seems to me like the heavy lifting to bring closure to the High Republic era starts with addressing the status of the galaxy and its next political phase, and continues with setting up the moves the Sith might be making in the background to position themselves as the next political force in the galaxy.

If either of these conclusions come to pass, I will be happy and expectations will be met.

Agree, especially since Phase 3 is so far lacking in addressing the larger political situation.

I just want one character to be revealed to be a Sith/approached by the Sith.

    That's all I need.

But all the stuff with NJO was about the Vong, ZS related to the Vong and so did all the characters, Alpha Red and the war it self. If it was just the Nihil, their storm wall and the nameless I would agree, but there is ALSO the blight (which might be related to the nameless?) and other stuff too. Also but TUF Tasavong Lah, was dead and the Jedi were on and working with ZS. This book sounds like (in metaphor), if the Jedi were STILL trying to find ZS in TUF.

There APPEARS to still be a lot of ground to cover in the last book and it also sounds like the other stories won't really DO anything, until then.

Isn't the Blight confirmed as linked to the Nameless?

I think, it might be, the audio drama got more into it a little with the fake cure, but not much.

Pre-TUF, if you asked me how it could be wrapped up in one book I'd have said no way.

Can I see how TotJ wraps up all of the HR arc? No, but I suspect it'll pull it off.

It will be interesting to see if it is able. One thing is though is it is going to be a longer book than normal. Soule said it's going to be over 500 pages.

Reath really should be in Soule's novel too. Kid's made all the biggest discoveries of phase 3.
