The interesting parallels between Corran Horn and Kyle Katarn

- Both inherited their powers in the Force through their fathers

- They both consider their droid companions to be old friends

- Both droid's names begin with "W" ( Whistler and WeeGee )

- Both spent time at a training institution

- Both places have "C" as a primary letter ( Carida Imperial Academy, CorSec Academy )

- Both have light beards ( most times )

- Both have used two different lightsabers as their primary weapon at various points

- They both flirted with their female companions, and sometimes argued with them, before starting a relationship ( Jan and Mirax )

- Both of them were among the first twelve students at Luke's Jedi praxeum

- For still being current characters in the modern EU, they were created at nearly the same time, by different companies/people ( Justin Chin and the Dark Forces team in late 1993/early 1994, conceptualized by Stackpole in mid-1994 )

- Both saw their father's last messages via hologram from their droids ( Kyle in his father's workshop, Corran after Mirax was captured )

- Both of them, at various points, decided to limit using their Force powers and/or remain in hiding ( Kyle previous to Jedi Outcast, Corran during Specter of the Past and after the Dark Tide duology )

- Both of them have worked closely with Mara Jade ( Kyle in Mysteries of the Sith, Corran during I, Jedi )

- Both of them have faced Sith forces, and after temptation, defeated them

- Both have gone beyond the Alliance/New Republic chain of command to perform solo missions by themselves and with others ( Kyle looking for who killed his father, Corran during The Bacta War and I, Jedi )

If anyone can think of more, list them.

We seriously need a short story or novel where they team up.

They have much in common, but have one big difference:
Corran's been (almost) overused
Kyle has been completely ignored

Kyle has access to many powers, including absorb.

Corran is pretty much only got absorb, and it only works against energy type weapons as far as I know.

 

The onlt thing Corran can't do is TK.

 

Most powers are based on having TK, as part of what is needed to even use the powers, according to the sourcebooks.

 

Not having TK is a big deal- he shouldn't be able to do super leaps, saber toss, push or grab. And actually, he does have TK- remember in I, Jedi he leapt out of the pool before the super heated water hit?

 

That was because he asorbed enough energy from the heat from the water to be able to use some TK. TK also involved with force Shield, and force based projectile weapons as well, among other things that kyle is able to use.

 

Thats not TK. That's just using the force to make your muscles extremely strong. It's not as though your using the force to pull you up into the air, because that would be flying.

 

Well it depends on how high someone jumps. But most of the time it's just enhance attribute, from the control power list. It is a is one of the basic powers.

The advanced powers use a combination of control and alter, or control and sense, or sense and alter powers, or control, sense, and alter powers, or "other skills" section.

Kyle is known to be powerful in many of the advanced combinations.

Because corran lacks alter he lacks quite a few of the advanced powers, but should be able to have the basic powers from controle and sense, and the combination there of(except in the case that he absorbs enough energy to unlock alter and then use some TK based combination powers for a short time).

 

i thought TK only meant that you could communicate through the force with other Jedi, and touch other peoples' minds with yours.

what else does TK include?

 

TK, only means Telekinetic, or using mind to physically alter the environment. It has nothing to do with TP(telepathic), or ESP(extra sensory perception), which you were thinking of.

 

Basically IMO, physical manipulation. So, if it afects anothers mind, it can be done.

 

Actually not physical, esp and TP, fall under control section, it has more to do with brain waves like a radio system.

But basically every jedi is open to all sections, but some are better at using some sections then others. As well there are some powers that only exibit themselves involuntarily(these fall under the "Other Skills" type powers I think.). You know the force equivalent of having your involuntary muscle movements checked at the doctors with the hammer. While they sometimes resemble a voluntary power they can't not be voluntarily used.

 

Both character have great fans. How much people like Corron Horn. I never know about Kyle Katarn, untell a few months ago because he's only in the Vido Games not the books. Buth there are countless fans of kyle. I can't explain why people like Corron Horn and Kyle Katarn so much.

Corron Horn was greatly writen in the Dark Tide Books. Stackpole changed the character Ganner alot from Corron.

Does Kyle Katarn have any Kid in jedi training. Like Corron's kid Valin.

 

I like both, personally. Anywho you asked about kids, as for Kyle unknown, no confirmation either way, yes or no.

 

I like both too but I don't know Kyle that well. He seems like an interisting character they should us him more.

Him and Corron would be good friends and make a great team. Where is Kyle in term of the NJO, do Author even know about him.
