No that's what you're talking about. Some other PT fans use that label towards any fan who expresses a strong dislike of the prequels. That's a fact. Look through this forum & you'll find plenty of examples.

Once again, make a hate thread and let us be in the appreciation thread, because we're having intelligent discussion, people are doing research and you're just trolling. That way, you're also showing enormous lack of respect for their research.

Well, that's on-topic. And the most iconic Jar Jar pic, IMHO. :)

I love Jar-jar. Hes the key to the good guys winning in Episode 1. Once Padme and Jar-jar meet and get to know each other there two society's can then work together to defeat the greedy Trade federations blockade of their planet that gets Senator Palpatine elected. Jar-jars whole character was a keystone to the MAJOR jedi theme of symbiosis in that Film.

By writing off Jar-jar people fundamentally write off a HUGE part of the whole point of that Film.[face_tired]

    I don't mind Jar Jar.
This part of Episode I always makes me laugh:

QUI-GON: Just relax. We're not in trouble yet.
JAR JAR: What yet? Monsters out dare! Leak'n in here, all'n sink'n, and no power! WHEN YOUSA TINKEN WESA IN TROUBLE?!!!?
    The wires start to spark.
    OBI-WAN: Power's back.

I also like the part where he's talking with Queen Amidala on Coruscant and he tells him of the Gungan army.

TPM would also be pretty damn serious without him, with the slavery, seriousness of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, Darth Maul, Darth Sidious, Naboo in the clutches of the villians the whole movie, etc.
    -------

I'm really curious as to what his role would've been for Episodes II and III if he had turned out to be a popular fan character, if he would've had a bigger role.

It's great when Jar Jar looks so out of it.

Then again it's great when he does anything.

"That smells stink-o-whiff" is an oft-used phrase in my household. Usually deployed with regard to some minor injustice.

"What? You didn't do the dishes? That smells stink-o-whiff!"

"Oh, your supervisor gave you useless feedback? That smells stink-o-whiff."

"I can't find my keys! This smells stink-o-whiff!"

Jar Jar lives on, immortal. :p

Most of PT "detractors" think Lucas wanted to give an important role at Jar Jar in Attack of the clones because hi was too hated by the public. But we know that SW isn't only a geat epopea, it is also a political metaphor, expecially in regard to PT.

Palpatine is an evil, manipulative politician (someone thinks Bush or Nixon, but Lucas never specified), but in a democracy the executive needs the approval of parliament.
Now, while Palpatine symbolizes the charismatic leader, who symbolizes stupid ones who give him power? Jar Jar could be one of them. He ask to give more power to Palpatine to form the clones army.

This is an incorrect definition (referred to Ep. II), becouse Palpatine speaks directly to Jar Jar and he is not important, but Jar Jar represent Amidala, and she has a lot of influence because of previous crisis on Naboo.

What do you think? Is Jar Jar an useful idiot? is Lucas a genius?

PS: i'm sorry again for my english. Please correct me if is necessary:)

And The Light Side of The Force as a whole. Both in SW and just plain IRL for real. Thats the one and only thing I wish more fans would understand.=((

A new hope, but Padme didnt live to see the rebellion...so seeing an older wiser Jar jar in Rebels could be interesting.

the only problem I have ever had with Jar Jar is when Boss Nass told him he was promoted to a General and he fainted..That was too cartoon-esque for a Star Wars movie to me. During the battle of Naboo, when he was being clumsy in a serious battle, it was slightly annoying but doesn't bother me to the point where I don't enjoy the action. I mean when he was throwing the ball(I forget the technical name the Gungans had for it) and he fell back after spinning- it was the exact same thing an Ewok did in ROTJ during the battle of Endor, except when the Ewok fell it wasn't an over-the-top fall. When Jar Jar fell, he bounced in the air and went falling back. Other than those minor things, Jar Jar has never bothered me!

I appreciate you feel that way but to me that was such an old-school thing to do that I totally got where Lucas was coming from.

For me I pretty much get everything Lucas was doing probably because I like so many of the same things when I was a child that he did when he was a child.

It's like when TPM came out it was kind of like this for me:

"Did George Lucas make this movie just for me?"

It's amazing to me that this is the character that is directly responsible for the events leading to the OT. Jar Jar Binks gets to be in the Republic Senate, and votes for emergency powers for the Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, AKA Sith Lord.

Round of applause for Mr. Lucas.
