Those of you who have custom skins might want to look into adding custom sounds for yourself. Its very simple, here's a tutorial. Ignore the MoTS parts, and the models.dat info. Email any results to me (flare_storm@yahoo.com) or maybe JP if he gives an ok.

Prolly don't want to change too many sounds, maybe 3-4, like the death sounds. Email me if you need any help.

EDIT: Racial slurs and language. Ha! just kidding.

actually i am disappointed that your not using the double bladded lightstaff

o and darth-han - you said something bout the lightstaff having the same amount of damage as a single lightsaber - this may be so - but the lightstaff is quicker in its "swings" the single is DAMN SLOW! (just talking normal JK here)

Its just not possible. JP would have to edit all the character meshes, including any skins we add down the line.

I know, ever since Spork hit I began to hate the vanilla game. After SaberX hit I began to tire of Spork, but not so much. Now we have the skinpack I don't want to play with anything but that! Bah, I'm fickle! ;)

Single lightsabers are lovely in SaberX, looks and functionality-wise. They've even got that function where if they stick through a wall, it gives off sparks, even if you're not swinging it! It's just little touches like that that I approve of.

    >> Email any results to me or maybe JP if he gives an ok. <,

Yeah - I've said to change death sounds earlier in the thread (oofs & aarghs) - and maybe a couple of short taunts (<3 seconds of duration each. In fact there's a LOT of discussion about this several pages back.

I'm happy to co-ordinate these. I'll write up some specific instructions on the default sounds and the taunts this weekend.

    Stay tuned.

I've had a new thought - FlareStorm - tell me if this is a possibility...

    We find the main mods we play;

    ie. saberx and spork.

We strip all skins out of these two mods.

In Patch Commander, if you activate Spork, you should (in theory) also be able to activate our TF.N skin mod - as there would be no skins in Spork to cause a conflict.

    Similarly for SaberX.

This also gives us flexibility for utilising future mods.

    Flare, is this a possibility?

This will allow us to patch our skinpack into (skin stripped) spork, into (skin stripped) saberX, or into any future mod (that we strip the skins out of), or use it on the "off the shelf" JK games.

This Could save us a lot of mucking about - and I think is a pretty good & simple solution...

    ...if it works, that is.

    Thoughts?

    JP

at the moment you are unable to play spork with our skins - same with saber X

when in patch commander (a few seconds ago) if you highlight our skins mod - there are a few lights that are just "off" but not "eliminated"!

ie: with our skins mod highlighted - i could then highlight the "brigade of light skins mod" also! also the triple bladed lightsaber mod was able to be highlighted alone with our skins mod!

EDIT = hopefully FLARESTORM can alter it so that we CAN play spork our skins/saber X our skins!

Er....what? If you are asking for compatibility between the skin pack, Spork, SaberX, and our mod...no.

If you are aking compatibilty between our mod and just the skin gob, yes. The stuff I am working on has absolutely no skin information. You should be able to use Patch Commander and use my gob, the skin gob, either, one or the other, or none without any conflicts.

There should be no dratting. The only thing our mod will be lacking from SaberX and Spork is the lightstaff. You will be able to grapple, change saber colors, force jump fly, see the pretty lightsabers from SaberX, etc.

You will also be able to use any skinpacks with it, as long as they don't modify anything else

EDIT: I just re-read your question JP, and yeah I can do that. Stripping the skins out of Spork and SaberX so that you can use our skinpack.

But I'm still making a kind of ultimate mod

Well, I'll give it a go, actually. Flare's busy with the Ultimate TFN Mod. I'm glad you went back and re-read what I was saying, SFL.

    That's what I was asking.

    >>But I'm still making a kind of ultimate mod <<

Cool. If you want to continue with a "Best of" Mod, be my guest.

I think I will take it upon myself to prepare Spork and SaberX to be compatible with our skinpack (by stripping all the skins from those two GOB files).

That will give us the option of playing our favourite mods with our skinpack/soundpack. And it will allow for upgrades to our skinpack with minimal fuss & consequence to the Mods it will work with.

You might want to strip all skins from your Ultimate Mod, Flare, so that upgrades to the skinpack won't require any further work on the Ultimate TFN Mod on your behalf once you finish it.

Like with our skinstripped Spork and Skinstripped SaberX, all we'll need to do in Patch Commander is to activate BOTH the desired MOD and the SKINPACK before launching the game.

Sounds easy in theory. I might find time to test it out thi sweekend (even though I'm presently on a JK Mod break ;) )

    SFL,

No-one's going to like every feature. That's precisely why our skinpack will work with regular JK, with adapted Spork, with adapted SaberX, and with the Ubermod.

There's a combination there to keep everyone happy.

    So quit whining...

Right - Test game this weekend.

Again, this is a bit hush-hush, because we're just testing to see if all this works BEFORE asking the SaberX author's permission to strip the skins from his mod for our private purposes.

    Details on the test game (Friday, 9:30pm EST) here;

Not being able to force-fly as good as someone else is a good thing. There's something you haven't mastered, it gives new life to the game.

I forgot to mention that the SaberX skinless mod, I kept all the readme files and credits intact.

    lol

Flare - play Sithy then you will see im not THAT good damn.

whats this talk bout giving the game new life - dont you like playing because i kill you?

a great person once said: "the only way to get better at JK is to DIE MANY TIMES - by dieing - you learnt how to avoid death, and then you learn to master the killing side of things!

this is how i learnt, by DEATH, and i too believe this is the best way to get to the top.

<<if you want, flare, next time we paly ill go easy on ya ;) >>

There's a problem with making a skinless Spork mod, as I thought there would be.

The models in spork have extra stuff added to them to show the Lightstaff. Our skins don't. So what you get when you toggle the lightstaff is your character holding a single bladed saber horizontally, spinning around with secondary fire like he has a lightstaff. It looks kind of silly, and you won't have a double saber, but technically it works. I don't see a way around this

this may just be a glitch flare - as when i first got spork - the second blade didnt work on the lightstaff for me (from external camera) but it now is fine - i thijnk i just re-DLed it.

but this may not be the case for your problem! <<sigh>>

...unless we change our models too - or maybe just a couple of models - for those few people who like using the Lightstaff.

Something for us to look into much further down the line. For now, if all the other Spork features work, I think we can all live without lightstaffs (right SFL?) until such time as we work out a solution...

Are you talking about nifty use of the SaberX force jump to keep you elevated?
