The Jhonen Vasquez thread

I think Invader Zim is absolute genius, and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac seems...interesting (I don't know where I can find it, except for some random panels here and there). I love Jhonen's art style. It's so different and just awesome. And I'd like to see Happy Noodle Boy as a stand-alone comic.

 

Somebody out there must like underground comics.

I agree. It sort of reminds me of Tim Burton's cartoons.

 

I want to read JTHM really bad. It looks like my kind of comic!

 

I Feel Sick does too, the main character seems kind-of like me (the RL me, not internet me)

 

I wish Invader Zim were still on Nickelodeon. Maybe I'll get the DVDs.

Where'd you read it?

 

You can usually find the trade paperback at Hot Topic or Barnes and Noble. You might be able to find the individual comics (which are better because they left cool stuff like the Tickle Me Hellmo doll out of the TPB) at a well-stocked comic store.

Wait... Tickle me Hellmo might have been in his other comic, Squee. It's been a while since I've read either one.

Only problem is, I go to Hot Topic all the time, but I have a mother who thinks that anyone who goes in there is a deranged suicidal rapist (I'm serious here) and that everything is going to corrupt my mind.

That's great. "You deny me the freshmaker?" I love Mentos too.

 

i love this comic. i remember seeing it in a Diamond Preveiws catalog one time and thought it looked like the coolest thing ever. skip to about 3 or 4 year later, i was walking around HT checking out the girls and what do i come across? that rights an issue of JTHM. so again i thought to myself and said "Hey this place CAN be [retty cool if it wanted to."

skip to about another year or 2, my friend comes back and has a the Squee TPB. i said out loud "HOLY ****" he rplyies "you know of that comic, take it if you want, i got it from someone else anyways" i read it and read it over and over again.

then i let this girl borrow it i have not gotten it back since.

if i had enough money i would make a fan film of the "Meanwhiles" story called "Crossing Gaurds" i loved that. it was in the issue of JTHM and in the Squee TPB.

i never get into Invader but when i first saw it, i automatically recognized the style of art.
