The Kids Are Okay (Chapter 9)

Casey sighed, waiting thirty minutes for Sera to answer the door the next morning. She told her that she needed more time to think about her proposal. On the con side, Casey feared the more time she spent with Sera, the deeper the rift between them would become, but on the pro side, maybe they would grow closer as sisters and Sera would finally understand her. That was her hope, but the future was always in motion, and accepting Sera's proposal could sabotage her relationship with her, or it could make it better. Casey really didn't know and she hated that she didn't know.

"Casey, you're early," Sera said, yawning as she stepped aside, letting in her little sister. "I didn't expect to see you so early, but since you're here, I guess that means you made your decision?"

"I have," she said, "And I have decided 'yes.'" Sera smiled, relieved she had accepted but quickly recognized that she had reservations about it. "But, I want you to know, this could either hurt our relationship and make things worse or it could make it stronger. It isn't a one-way situation; it has to work on both sides, Sera. That means you have a put in effort to for this to work. It can't just be me trying to please you."

"That's fair," Sera mused as they both sat down. "So, do you have any plans or ideas for my wedding?"

Casey frowned and shrugged. "Actually, I do but I'm not sure if you'll like them."

"Try me," she said and smiled. "You have your say and I have my say."

"...I was thinking since you're a Jedi, maybe we can arrange a traditional but simple Jedi bonding ceremony or something. It could be indoors in some great hall, but you want things low-key so maybe a small outdoors gathering and the reception can be in a hall, or maybe under some tents close to the site so guests won't have to commute far."

Sera smiled. "I love it. I really wasn't going for traditional, but I love the idea."

Casey sighed. "Thank you. I have some more...maybe for a wedding shower?"

"Can't wait to hear about it."

Jaina smiled as she walked over to Jag and hugged him from behind and kissed him. Jag smiled. "I just wanted to congratulate you for behaving yourself last night at dinner."

Jag blushed as he turned around and faced his wife. "You thought I was going to torture the kid and embarrass Cherith?"

Jaina nodded no, trying to hide her embarrassment. Her worst fear was that Cherith would be humiliated and she would leave the dinner angry with him. "Cherith is still my little princess, she'll always be that for me, but she's a grown woman now, and with the twins on the way, she won't be that baby of the family anymore."

Jaina propped up her arm and rested head on it. "You're a good father and a good man, Jagged Fel." She leaned up and kissed him. Then, the kiss deepened and Jag fervently kissed Jaina, both of their breaths deep and ragged between them until they calmed down and Jag wrapped his arms around his wife, hugging her lightly.

"Hello you," Cherith said, interrupting Valin's thoughts as she slid into the booth and set her food down. Valin smiled hello to her shyly and then stared again at his food. He seemed distant and worried and pushed her food away as she stared back at him. Valin sensed she was staring at him and looked up at her, and she smiled at him. "Valin, what is it?"

"Everything went well last night, right? It wasn't an act to please you? Dinner wasn't a complete disaster?"

Cherith shrugged, "When I went back, my parents were sitting with each other in the living room. My mom didn't say anything but I knew everything went okay. Why? You think it was a disaster?"

Valin shook his head. "I hope it wasn't a disaster. I don't know Cherith, I just feel things are moving too fast between us, you know? I know I love you and you love me but..."

"But you still think we're too young," she finished for him. "Maybe we are. Valin, it doesn't matter. I know I'll still feel this way about you when I'm 18 years old. Time won't change anything."

    "I believe that too, C

The Kids Are Okay (Chapter 11)
    By obi's girl

"Excuse me, can I have everyone's attention?" Sera asked her guests. Casey had trained her very well in the role of hostess. She trained Kyp too, but Sera was declared hostess of the evening, and Casey helped her manage the event. Everything was perfect by her standards, but to Sera, anything could go wrong at any minute. But Casey assured her not to worry...yet. "Kyp and I would like to thank you for coming to our engagement party. Since the beginning of this engagement, I've been a control freak, wanting every little detail to be perfect no matter the cost. Casey, my sister and maid of honor can attest to that."

The guests laughed and Casey blushed as Sera continued. "But I really do owe my sister so much because she has worked very hard these last couple months to bring this event and my wedding day together. I was worried at some point we couldn't work things out but we're both still alive, so that's a definite plus."

The guests laughed and applauded Casey. Sera smiled at her too and beckoned her to say something. Casey looked at Hobbie next to her, he smiled and she stood up, walking slowly to Sera and Kyp's table. She looked down briefly, and then directed her attention to the crowd. "Before coming here, Sera and I really weren't that close as sisters. I left home before she did to become a famous actress and Sera became a Jedi," Casey paused. "Sera never knew this because I never told her but looking back, I wish I had stayed because then I would have the chance to be closer to my sister. I still don't know if I have the potential to be a Jedi, but it would have been something we both could have bonded over, and it's kinda sad it took helping her prepare for her wedding for us to bond again as sisters."

Casey looked at Sera and smiled. "But no matter what, I have always been proud of you and I love you, Sera and I wish you all the happiness." She turned back to the guests, not knowing which ones were Jedi, but she could tell the ones that were overly silent and were staring at her, were trying to figure out themselves if she did have the potential. But amongst the crowd, Hobbie was the only one that applauded Casey for her speech and then soon, a loud roar followed the applause. "Um, thank you." Casey said quickly and then walked back to Hobbie.

Kyp smiled thoughtfully, and then turned to Sera. She took the podium again, saying, "Please, everyone, enjoy the evening."

"Can I steal Han from you for a little bit?" Sera asked Leia. Leia nodded her approval and then turned back to Mirax and Corran, as Han led her to the dance floor. Months earlier, Sera had come to Corran and asked him to be the one to give her away. It was impossible to contact her family back home on Corellia. When she and Casey were younger, their father abandoned the family, and then their mother became sick and eventually died, leaving Sera, Casey and her brothers.

And then, when Sera was in her twenties, Corran Horn returned home to Corellia and they met. Corran instantly felt Sera was very gifted in the Force and offered to train her. But training to be a Jedi meant leaving her siblings behind. It was a hard decision for her, but eventually she realized she could still support her siblings working for the military. As they trained together, Corran and Sera developed a strong a father/daughter type bond. She knew from the moment she asked Kyp to marry her that it would be Corran to walk her down the aisle. She couldn't imagine anyone else in that position.

Han smiled and lead Sera to the floor. ?So, what?s the problem??

Sera frowned. ?Actually Han, it was very nice of you to offer to walk me down the aisle, but the problem is ? I already asked someone else,? she paused. ?I didn?t want to embarrass you when you arrived so I didn?t say anything.?

?Oh,? Han mused. ?Who did you ask??

Sera looked behind Han to Corran, who was talking to Kyp. ?I asked Corran. It?s just that I?ve always seen him as my adoptive father, and honestly, Han, we?ve never been close. But I wi
