Tickled that Mara turned down all the other offers. She knows the best when she finds it. You gave L/M the best action and Han the best lines!!!! I get a sense from Mara, particularly including the last update in it, that she's not just out to have a good time. Not anymore. Pretty soon, she'll be wanting to spend all her time with him, wanting to share all kinds of things, good and bad. From being someone to play with, Luke's becoming someone to come home to.
So glad for the update.

Sorry it's a day late, but I had illness and unexpected visitors over for the holiday, which is technically still not over in the UK as today is still part of the UK Easter holiday.

Part 5 - Happy E'star

"You know what," Han drawled, "it's no fun when the kids cheat finding the gees."

"They are not using the Force, Han," Leia sighed as she followed three-year old Jaina run into the dining room after more gees.

"Hey," Han help up his hands, "I'm just saying, they are too darn good at this game."

Luke chuckled and turned to keep his eye on Jacen, "I have to say, I think they are using the Force, unintentionally."

"I knew it," his brother-in-law laughed, "clever little ones, just like their old man."

Leia came back into the room laughing, Jaina in her arms nibbling on the sugary gee. "And when they are using this cleverness to sneak off with the Falcon, what then?"

"Ooo, you are evil woman," Han laughed and kissed her, which sent Jaina squirming in her mother's arms.

Luke watched as the pair laughed and then teased their daughter before letting her down to eat her gee and play with her brother. He couldn't help but smile at them, "So, when are you going to tell everyone that you are expecting again?"

At the mention of the impending arrival of another member of the family, his sister blushed but radiated at the same time. "I have a doctor's appointment in two days, we're not even sure I'm pregnant."

"Leia," Han slipped her arms around her, "you are showing the same signs as the last time."

"But I'd only be a few weeks along," she chewed her lip in that way he knew meant she was trying not to get her hopes up, in case it was a phantom pregnancy.

Stretching out with the Force, he could feel it, a small spark of life that didn't seem to match her own but was emanating from her, probably just a clump of cells gathering and morphing, the mere budding of life. "I am sure you are, Leia."

Reaching forward, she wrapped him in a hug, kissing him lightly on the cheek, "Thank you, Luke."

"Excuse me," Threepio's whine called from the kitchen, "dinner will be ready in approximately ten standard minutes."

"Good," Han clapped his hands together, "cause I'm starving."

"You staying, Luke?" Leia pulled away to move over to the children.

As much as he wanted to, "I'm sorry, but I'm meeting Mara tonight."

"Nowhere public I hope," Han snickered good naturedly.

"That was over a month ago!" Luke sighed, he truly wasn't going to live that night down. The only upside is that it did seem to have an effect on his image, a good effect surprisingly enough.

In the past, the Jedi were these mysterious and powerful people who largely kept to themselves except when running about telling people what to do and solving their problems for them. Luke had no desire for his order to be the same, guardians of peace, yes, but not so removed from everyone that they lost sight of what they were supposed to be guardians of.

Finding out that the Jedi Master was not above a quickie with his girlfriend in a public woman's refresher was apparently a good sign that the order was going to stay grounded. Of course this information hadn't made it out to the public, but those in the know in the government who feared another Palpatine believed that for Luke to show such 'normal' behaviours as having a girlfriend, romantic encounters, etc, meant that Luke would not fall into the same traps of the previous stoic like Jedi.

Curious, he thought it would be the other way around, that they would see it as deviant behaviour that would lead to darkness. It seemed they were comforted by the fact that Luke was just like them.

Luke had been able to tell Han and Leia a bit about Mara, but unfortunately the exotic red-head was still baulking at letting out too much about her, or even meeting his family. Little by little he was wearing her down...

"Does she not know it's E'star?" Leia frowned.

"Honestly," Luke sighed, "probably not. I haven't seen her in a month, she h

The scene with the Solos was fun.

As usual, Luke and Mara's conversation was full of real, strong, tender, honest emotion.
But, foot, they're in a bind--not just because she's pregnant, though that certainly does complicate things but in general--how could she come over to the side of the Republic and be trusted? And wouldn't that ruin Luke's trustworthiness as she says? And, then, wouldn't their relationship be a public spectacle?

Now, I really can't wait till the next update!!!!

 

Ohhhhh...was not expecting that! What a hydrospanner to throw in the works. It was nice to see Mara come clean with Luke, and looking foward to see how their relationship will cope with this change.

Great update! Loved the look at the Solo family.

So Mara and Luke have some trouble on their hands now, don't they? If this gets back to Mara's employers, what will they do to her? Where would she wind up?

Of course, I'd love for her to wind up in Luke's arms, but she just dropped a couple of mega-ton bombs on the poor guy.

she could quit the spy business and go to his academy. . .

his freinds would just know that well. .. he's got a little one on the way and she left her old job to be with him. . .

and well. . .she's good at what she does

 

This is a really awesome story RedGold!!! I'm a huge fan of L/M, but this is a different spin on their relationship to be sure. But I'm really liking it. Good job!

The Padti's day post was hilarious! Poor Luke is never going to live that down, not with Han, Wedge, Wes, and especially Corran there!

Uh oh, now they really have problems. Unfortunate that it happened to fall on E'star too, when they should be happy with their families. Mara should just disappear, just go to Yavin and hide out at the academy. Luke's buddies are mostly very discreet, and even if they found out she was a former Imperial, there are plenty of other Alliance members who also used to be. Hope they figure out a solution.

 

WOW!!! Excellent update!! Mara is pregnant... now that is a bit of a complication... as if their relationship wasn't complicated enough.
