YouTube reactions can be fun and I do look at them from time to time but I also don't feel like the reactions are genuine in many instances. Many YouTubers like to exaggerate their reactions.

Also many of them react to every popular show and movie out there so it's pretty much has just become a means to get income for them.

But still, I was only talking about those for TLOU2. The point is that they had the same reactions, for the most part, that I did regarding Abby's progression in the story.

So this show is just another Walking Dead now. One of the main reasons I took interest was because of the zombie types. In the 1st season we got runners, clickers and bloaters, and before we got to explore them further, they introduced a newer, smarter type. Instead of more the zombies, we're getting just new groups, and weird ones at that. Still liking it though.

If you want my opinion, I'd hate the show if it was just another zombie apocalypse theme where there's no actual human stories to talk about. It's the human factor that got me interested in the original game to begin with. The people are in conflict with each other; not just running scared from fantasy creatures.

Last of Us is far, far more grounded than TWD was. It's characters actually act like real people. The TWD characters really were just comic book characters put onscreen. Outside of the first couple seasons they put very little effort into adapting it properly for the tv medium. By the end of the series they really resembled MCU characters than realistic people trying to survive in a post apocalyptic world.

I can see the parallels as well as the similarities but fundamentally I think they're different.

    The Walking Dead
was interesting until it wasn't and when it wasn't was when I stopped caring about the characters. It just kind of happened naturally as TWD characters would make the absolute stupidest choices and then there was constant infighting within each group which was counter to their (and the groups) own survival. Also, the show and its budget could only do so much and they wanted to "wow" with a brutal kill of the week and have the audience cheer or cry. And with all the changes in leadership at that show, and the countless spin offs, it felt like they were saying things like "hey look at us! are you still watching?! do you like this?!"

With TLOU, I like all the characters - the good ones and the bad ones - and the story they're telling. I think the buy in or litmus test for this season (and next) will be -- do you care about or still care about character X after they do Y? Is character X justified in doing Y or do you think they should have done Z?

I also feel TLOU has one cohesive story from start to finish. You're not going to get a separate show that follows Catherine O'Hara. The only "spin off" episode we got was the Bill episode which was excellent and served the overall theme of the show and season 1.

TWD was formulaic and repeated itself each season (1) find shelter (2) shelter is destroyed by bad guys (3) lick wounds and find new shelter.

In the end, I think TWD is for fans of zombies where they attempt to capture the nostalgia of zombie movies that did it first and better.
TLOU is a more adult themed show that delves into the character of a person and asks us why we endure and survive. What is the purpose?

It just beckons to remind you of the point I was making in an earlier post about Abby.
I cannot think of another major character who was absolutely loathed and then by the end of a single game's playthrough most gamers care for her like a sister or daughter. That is compelling storytelling.

There's potential for two big Not Zombie Infected monster scenes coming up but one probably won't be introduced until season 3. Unless they play the long game and tease it next week. Which maybe?

Next week tease they're introducing the spores element of infection it looks like which they dropped (mostly because they didn't want people acting in gas masks)

    Game Spoiler
there's the Ellie vs Bloater scene near the end of Ellie Day 3 which could be amazing but we did get a brand new Tommy vs Bloater scene in Episode 2 so it may be repeating itself. I would love to see it though! And 100% we're getting the Rat King scene but that's 90% probably season 3 with Abby. Unless like I said with introducing spores and what looks like the hospital location they could tease Rat King (but I honestly thought it was locked in a closet for like 20 years or so)

Unrelated to this about Ellie and Dina getting it on, by removing their hook up from earlier in the season (at Eugene work shop in Jackson) the only place the plot could have them do it would be during the Seattle revenge mission which does not seem conductive to romance. And them doing it at the music store after Take On Me would have kind of ruined the moment so all there is when they're hiding out at the theatre which comes off as a little awkward. Doesn't seem like the most romantic of spots, y'know?

    Gameplay Spoiler
now that I've started the Abby section, definitely season 3 stuff, I'll slow down on my playthrough (maybe finally get back to Star Wars Outlaws fer crissakes ahaha) but I could just put the Game down until season 3 but knowing the pace of this it'll probably be in like 2027. Booo

I just watched the latest episode. Although a few important things happened in this episode, for the most part it seemed to serve more of a bridge than anything else.
You hear the story about what happened with a group of WLF soldiers who were sent to the basement of a hospital; where it's shown that the cordyceps are now being spread through spores in the air. Then the scene shifts to Ellie and Dina; where Dina reveals the story of her first kill, as a child among her family. You understand, or at least are supposed to, why Dina has this passion to join Ellie to get revenge for Joel's death. Those new 'smart' infected chase them, and Jessie is there to save the day. And he's there with Tommy, who for the time being isn't with them. We see the Scars gutting a captured man; just like in the game. Ellie reaches the hospital and confronts Nora. Nora realizes after all's said and done that Ellie is the immune girl - she tells Ellie what Joel did to Abby's father, but apparently she already knew. And this leads to the flashback with Joel. I guess the next episode will be a full flashback one (with the spacesuits).
