I actually enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed Freemaker Adventures, much more than I did Star Wars Resistance that was also meant for a younger audience.

Anyone else bothered by the mistletoe kiss? Zorii rejected Poe twice in TROS, did not say one word throughout the entire special, and did not take her helmet off during the kiss (so it doesn't even really count). He may as well have kissed a droid! I know it's to try to convince us that Poe is straight, but 1) if they really wanted to do that, Rey is RIGHT THERE! I know Damerey is wildly unpopular, but it still made better sense than to kiss Zorii. At least Poe and Rey interacted a little bit during the special. And 2) Bisexuality exists! Poe could be bi!

The best mindset going into any LEGO Star Wars specials is that the whole plot is straight from the mind of some kid just having a blast with their toys. Kids don't generally care about nuanced romantic relationships- they see two characters "paired together", those characters are super in love, all happy like.

If you want to tip your toe into the larger Lego canon and sprinkle in Star Wars, basically the two Lego movies are the kids playing with their Legos, the 2nd movie has two distinct plotlines from the son and the daughter that mash up together. (the producers even said Lego Batman Movie could be him playing with his DC toys). It's even straight up explicitly stated in Lego Movie 2

"This isn't even happening! It's all just the expression of the death of imagination in the subconscious of an adolescent!"
"Ow! I don't even understand what you're saying!!!"

I fully accept this as the canon post-TROS future for Rey and company.

I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. The characters and moments were shown proper respect and celebrated, and it actually made everything from all trilogies work as a whole in the special.

Though, there will only be one Star Wars Holiday Special in my heart.

The fact that Lucasfilm let Rey start training Finn as a Jedi here makes me confident we'll see him as a Jedi when we get to post sequel stories.

Wish they used the opportunity to throw in Ahsoka in there somewhere so she could have interacted with the OT cast. Perhaps the creatives behind the special were told not to do so since Lucasfilm is holding it back for future media so when it does happen, it feels truly special and the fanbase goes crazy over it.

This was fun, but not nearly as good as the Lego Batman movie. Not that it was trying to be, but I wish that it had. Some of the plot points were interesting and could have been explored more. This exploration of time travel and the ST is pretty provocative and it makes you wonder about potential changes to the timeline. Not a fan of the voicing for Rey, which sounded really off at times, like parody even. 7/10

Edit: I still found the characterization of Finn to be racist. It's still falling into that trap of portraying him as a kind of buffoon, which sadly is part of a long tradition of such colorist representation.

I loved how it was set post ST and it’s exciting to see the story continue after the saga ends even if only certain larger elements are canon. Rey training Finn was a thrill! The time traveling stuff got a bit too whacky for me but it’s all good fun. It was great to be reminded of the extent of Luke’s humble beginnings and how he really was just a nobody average farm boy! It’s great how this brought the entire saga and spin off movies and shows together! I liked how Rose got more of a role and the dynamic between all the new characters was really sweet. It was a blast seeing Chewis family! The Yoda narration was wonderful. I enjoyed the Christmas carol nod with showing Rey the past and future. I didn’t like the Poe and Zori kiss as TROS establishes she’s not interested in Poe romantically and he respects her. I also wish we spent more time to outside on Kasshyk! Why spend so much time inside the Falcon when you’re on such a wondrous and iconic planet!?

Ultimately though there is only one Star Wars Holiday special! ;) HAPPY LIFE DAY EVERYONE!

Agreed I had no idea why they went all the way to Kashyyyk only to have the party inside the ship.

So Chewies family didn't have to come to them? Kashyyk isn't known for having many large transports.
And they did go outside after it started snowing.

I definitely get your point, it's just that it made enough sense to me that I didn't question it.

This was a lot better than I expected. A shame they couldn’t get more actors from the ST to do voices.

I'm pretty sure there's a bit when she's with Moisture Farmer Luke that goes something along the lines of:
    "Thank you Luke!"
    "For what??"
    "For actually teaching me something."

Super-smart, not-at-all-tone deaf idea to double down on the buffoonish, subservient Finn characterization...
