while i haven't seen that particular episode, the one i would like to comment on is the one where miranda becomes anorexic.

i think that the message overall is a strong one, even though it is presented in a somewhat realistic way. miranda goes from just fine, to anorexic, to fine again, in under a week. one important thing to note, however, is the fact that it is spurred my a comment from gordo which is meant to be innocent. i think that this sends the message that people should be careful what they say around others, and to tred especially carefully around comments that harp on what people consider to be their own weaknessess. miranda felt self-councious about her weight and physical appearance, and gordo, without thinking, made a comment that sent her over the edge.

the fact that miranda was not immediatly open to hearing her friends' opinion on her change in attitude was very realistic as well. in her opinion, she did not have a problem: it took more than just a few well-meaning comments from friends to realize that.

finally, i think that the reasoning behind miranda's temporary anorexia was realistic as well. many people who are anorexic do so because it allows them to have control over an aspect of their life while the rest of their life seems to be spinning out of control. however, that comment is not completely correct, so i leave you with these parting words.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for the day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our attitudes!

I have not seen that episode, carmenite, but you have excellent points. I shall keep an eye out for that one in the future. Of course, the theme of Lizzie McGuire overall is one of friendship. Hopefully kids learn from this show.

and yes, i am an adult fan. i believe the stories portreyed have positive morals and are a good lesson for everyone interested.

i watched another episode today, in which lizzie is the mentor for a 7th grade girl, and the seventh grader ends up trying to copy her exactly. i think it sent a very important lesson about the necessity of being yourself. gordo summed it up best, when he said at the end:

"if you spend your time trying to be someone else, you'll never really learn about yourself"

Yeah, I'd tap it. But the guy in Even Stevens (Shia LaBeouf) was on TRL today and Live w/ Regis and Kelly yesterday. Thats so funny that hes a stoner. He's a pretty funny guy though...

 

I watched the Lizzie McGuire movie and I think she's very talented. In the DVD it says she did her own singing.

She's also very cute!
