KA - It's as if Lillie knew that her next words were key to holding together the fragile conspiracy about Luke's heritage. - She has to respect Obi-Wan's decision at least until she learns more about what happened.

Kynstar - Well at least Lillie told him that much. ? She can tell him more but she has to be careful. Next instalment will be longer!

ZM - WOW...that about sums it up... ? Thank you! :) I hope that this story hooks you as much as the summaries did!

?He made my toys fly around the garden, we shared a love of sweet sand cookies. I worshipped him.? She added softly.

That was just so bittersweet, a reminder of the boy Anakin was and the sting of knowing what he became.

This has to be difficult for Lillie. Luke has so many questions, yet she doesn't want "betray" Obi-Wan by telling him too much.

I had wondered if Lillie knew about Anakin/Vader. That answered that question. But obviously, she didn;t know Padme or that Luke had a sib.

FAB - That was just so bittersweet, a reminder of the boy Anakin was and the sting of knowing what he became. - Thanks. It is not her decision to shatter Luke's illusions.

Gina - Luke has so many questions, yet she doesn't want "betray" Obi-Wan by telling him too much. ? She is going to have to be very selective in what she reveals.

PK - But obviously, she didn;t know Padme or that Luke had a sib. ? Lillie doesn?t know about Padme or Leia?s true identity but after the confrontation with Vader at the end of the Lost Holocron, she found out who Vader was.

?Did you know my mother?? Luke asked.

?I?m sorry Luke. I didn?t know that Anakin had a child until today.?

As Leia put a comforting hand on his shoulder, Luke looked up her smiling in gratitude.

Poor Luke, never seems to be able to find out about his mother... till four years later and he finds out about a certain connection...

    Excellent post, Sabe126 =D= =D= =D= =D= =D=

CommanderK23 ? Thanks! He might not find out about his mother directly but he will learn a lot about Obi-Wan.

AW - Poor Luke! He has no idea what horrible truth awaits him. ? No and I don?t think that he would believe Lillie if she told him the truth.

Next instalment at the weekend! :)

    Part 4

?Her cousin?? Luke looked surprised. He had never thought about Obi-Wan having any family.

?Their mothers were sisters. They and their husbands were killed when an Alderaanian Senator was assassinated on Coruscant.? Lillie replied, resting her chin on her hand. ?Obi-Wan had already been taken to the Jedi Temple and my mother was adopted by her father?s friend, Professor Nial Milovy.

?There is a memorial at the Remembrance Tower.? Leia spoke up; she knew her people?s history well. Her father had made sure of that.

?My grandfather was a famous archaeologist and my mother followed in his footsteps. That was how she met Obi-Wan.? Seeing Luke?s confusion, Lillie explained. ?Jedi had no contact with their families.?

    ?Then how?? He asked.

?My grandfather discovered the ruins of a Jedi Temple on Anobis. Obi-Wan was one of the Jedi sent to investigate.?

?A Jedi Temple?? Luke turned quickly to Leia. ?I should go, there might be something.?

?No Luke,? Lillie shook her head. ?There is nothing left there now. The Empire saw to that.?

But Luke was only half listening. Even if it had gone, if it was somewhere where his father had been, he would go. ?Was my father with him then??

?No, it was a couple of years before the Trade Federation blockade of Naboo.?

    ?Naboo?? Luke asked.

Leia broke off from her own private musings, ?That was when Palpatine came to power.? Her voice rose defiantly, ?If that had not happened. So many mistakes were made.?

?Your highness, you yourself should know that in politics nothing is ever what it seems.? Anger blazed in Lillie?s eyes, ?Not even the Jedi could see what was to come, Palpatine manipulated everything from the beginning.?

Luke watched as the two women stared at one another, until finally Leia broke away, a faint blush spreading over her cheeks, ?I know,? she admitted quietly.

?So Obi-Wan knew my father during the blockade?? Luke sought to break the tension between them. ?He told me that my father was already a great pilot when they met.?

?Oh he was,? Lillie?s voice softened, ?even at the battle of Naboo when he was still a child. It was only afterwards that Obi-Wan began to train Anakin.?

?Your mother and Obi-Wan, did they stay in contact?? Luke asked eagerly.

?At the time they did not know of the connection between them. For whatever reason, they were allowed to work alongside each other on Anobis,? she shrugged, ?but it was not until they returned there a year later that they discovered the truth.?

?What happened?? Leia asked, suddenly anxious to learn more about her father?s friend.

Lillie shook her head, ?My mother never told me.?

?If Jedi were not allowed contact with their families how did she see him again?? Luke looked up at her intently.

?My grandfather died during the blockade shortly after I was born and when the new wing of the Nubia museum was dedicated to his memory three years later, the Jedi Council sent Obi-Wan and your father to represent them.? Luke?s serious gaze stirred old memories and she was back in their garden on Nubia, listening while Anakin told her how he had flown into the Trade Federation ship?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

?We skidded to a halt and I couldn?t do anything because all the controls were overheating and it was then that,? he paused to make sure he had her attention. Seeing the little girl was spell bound by his adventure, Anakin smiled to himself and continued, ?I noticed,? glancing round for any sign of Obi-Wan, he lowered his voice to whisper conspiratorially, ?100s of battle droids coming towards me.?

The Jedi?s laughter sounded across the garden and both turned to look at him. He was sitting next to Marissa on the terrace, their heads close together as they talked. Frowning, Anakin watched them for a moment before going back to his story, ?So I fired the guns and the torpedos and everything went ?BOOM!?

?BOOM!? Lillie giggled as she watched Anakin ran round the garden showing how he had flown out of the explo

Great post, Sabe! I especially loved the scene with Anakin and the younger Lillie. That's just the way I'd imagine him describing his exploits with the Trade Federation during the blockade. :D

AW - That's just the way I'd imagine him describing his exploits with the Trade Federation during the blockade. ? Thanks Arwyn. I thought that young Anakin?s story would involve a bit of exaggeration, especially when Obi-Wan wasn?t around to correct him.

PK - The greatest jedi secret of them all? ? Yes, the Temple had more secrets to reveal, secrets that Obi-Wan needs to know about!

CommanderK23 ? Glad you are enjoying it. Next instalment at the weekend.

KA - Gee, Lillie is a pretty good storyteller. Even I am on the edge of my seat! ? Good to hear that! Hope the rest keeps you there!

Kynstar - Uh oh more to come for the 'secret' eh? Poor Lillie... it's gonna be hard having to retell some of this story! ? Yes it is going to be hard but Lillie is certain that Obi-Wan would want Luke to know some of it.

Lillie smiled at them, ?It took years to translate but another discovery within this Temple sent me on my first mission for the Alliance. To find Obi-Wan Kenobi and uncover the greatest Jedi secret of them all.

Okay, now that was just a cruel place to leave us hanging! More soon, please!

    Part 5

?Nearly home,? Bail joined Marissa at the view port as the diplomatic cruiser left hyperspace.

?Yes,? Marissa whispered, keeping her gaze fixed on the spot where Alderaan would appear. It was only when the Viceroy took her hand that she realised she was shaking, as the stars returned to normal and the swirling greens and blues of Alderaan filled her vision. ?Thank you for bringing us.?

He shook his head, ?You?ve been missed.? Bail sighed deeply, ?I just wish it were under better circumstances, I feel??

?Bail no,? Marissa cut him off, ?we had two extra years. If Palpatine had had his way, we wouldn?t have had that.? As she turned to look at him, the Viceroy could see the pain in her eyes. ?Ben?s work was important to all of us.?

Nodding, he accepted that the matter was closed. ?I had your apartment prepared as you requested.?

?Thank you. Bail I?? Marissa paused, uncertainty raging inside her as she struggled against asking the question that had consumed her thoughts since he had met them three days earlier. ?I know I shouldn?t ask but is??

Bail smiled down at her, ?Yes, he is alive and knows that you are returning to Alderaan.?

Marissa leaned against the view port in relief, ?Its just that I haven?t heard anything for over two years and??

    ?Daddy!?

Bail spun round, letting go of her hand, as Lillie entered the cabin carrying Leia.

?I can?t believe how much she has grown.? Marissa watched as the Viceroy took his daughter in his arms.

?What have you been doing?? He asked.

?Reading nerfs!? The little girl replied looking at Lillie.

Bail?s smile grew even wider, ?They were your favourite subject at this age if I remember rightly Lillie.?

Laughing, she joined her mother at the view port. ?When do we leave??

?Leave?? Bail looked up in surprise.

?We won?t be staying long,? Marissa replied, ?just a couple of months. I have work to do.?

    --------------------------------------------

?I don?t remember that,? Leia admitted with a smile. ?But Marissa came back, I remember her later on.?

?What did Palpatine do?? Luke asked curiously.

?A year after Palpatine took power he forced my mother to work for him.? Lillie paused, ?I think you should know that Palpatine was a family friend for years but was responsible for the deaths of my grandfather and father.? Shutting her eyes, Lillie tried to block out the memories.

    ?What happened?? Leia asked gently.

?We had fled to Alderaan, my father was worried that due to my mother?s connection with the Jedi, she would not be safe.? Reaching in to her coat pocket, Lillie retrieved a miniature holocube. Activating it, she held it out to Leia, ?This is my mother and father just before they were married.?

Leia studied the projected image, although Ben?s gaze was directed towards his future wife and all she could make out was his profile, Marissa faced the cam, her head inclined slightly towards him, laughing at his words, their hands intertwined. In the background she could just make out the waters of the Alderaan deep-water lakes.

?But he could not stay away and do nothing, so he joined your father in the Alliance,? Lillie continued. ?He disappeared on a mission and my mother and I were summoned to Coruscant.? She sighed, ?Palpatine?s way of making sure my mother worked for him. While my mother searched for the pieces of the Lost Holocron, I remained on Coruscant with Vader.?

Leia handed back the holocube, her eyes full of sympathy.

    ?Lost Holocron?? Luke asked.

?It contained a Jedi prophecy but with Obi-Wan?s help, my mother made sure that Palpatine could never activate it and they rescued me and my father.? Lillie told them, her voice shaking. ?It was the last time they met.?

    ----------------------------------------

Removing her outer travelling clothes, Marissa crossed the bedroom and opened the drapes. From the window she could just make out the lake in the distance and she stood in silence taking in the view. It had been more than two years but finally they were home.

Lillie realised that she had reached the point in her tale from which there would be no return, ?Three years later when I was eighteen I joined the Alliance and it was then that my mother summoned me back to Alderaan. It was time.?

    Time for what??
