Lillie does not know who Luke?s mother was or that he and Leia are brother and sister

See, that's what happens when your brain gets fried with a really bad cold. You forget stuff. [face_blush]

    Part 13

Luke nodded, a feeling of unease creeping over him as he waited for her to speak. Old Ben?s hesitation and Lillie?s obvious reluctance to talk about it, warned him that he might not want to know what had happened to his father. But anything she could tell him might give him the other answers that he so desperately needed.

?You mustn?t blame yourself Luke. Obi-Wan would not have wanted this.? Lillie told him quietly.

?Leia said the same thing,? he admitted with a sigh, ?but it doesn?t help.?

?She is right.? She looked at him in sympathy. ?It will take time.?

?It?s not that.? Luke turned away. ?I saw Ben and Vader fight. We were running for the ship. When he saw us, Ben seemed to concede the fight.? He shrugged. ?He gave us the chance to escape.?

Lillie paused, wanting to know more but unable to ask. ?It was his mission and his duty that you survive.?

?There must have been something I could have done.? Luke?s voice rose in anger.

?No,? Lillie took his hands and made him face her. ?There was nothing. Luke, listen to me please.? She pleaded, willing for him to listen. ?Obi-Wan would not have wanted this." She repeated. "He blamed himself over his own Master?s death and he should not have done.?

This caught Luke?s attention. ?His Master??

?Qui-Gon Jinn was killed fighting a Sith on Naboo during the Trade Federation blockade.? Lillie began, letting go of his hands. ?The Jedi were helping the Queen retake the Palace when they were confronted. They fought and somehow Obi-Wan and his Master were separated.?

Luke bowed his head, as he realised what she was about to tell him.

?Master Jinn fought on without him to try and defeat the Sith but was killed in the attempt. Obi-Wan saw it happen.?

?How do you know this?? Luke asked, keeping his gaze lowered.

Lillie sighed, ?He talked to my mother. It took him awhile to realise it but there wasn?t anything he could have done. His destiny lay on a different path to Master Jinn?s.?

?That?s what Ben said to me.? Luke whispered.

Lillie nodded. ?Obi-Wan knew that he would face Vader again.?

    Luke looked up sharply. ?How??

    ?He had a vision.?

?A vision?? He looked hopefully at her. Maybe if Jedi had visions then they heard voices as well and he hadn?t imagined it? ?He told you??

Lillie studied him closely before replying. ?Jedi sometimes had them. I don?t know anything more about it.? Her voice was steady as she remembered the panic she had felt at facing Vader once more and how this time there would be no escape.

Sensing she did not want to say any more on the subject, Luke turned his attention back to the carving that covered most of the wall. ?Was he a Massassi??

Lillie smiled. ?At first they believed he was a Massassi Holy Man,? she began, explaining about the similar carving in another part of the Temple and how it showed the Massassi?s religious beliefs, ?but other evidence proved this theory wrong.?

Taking a step forward, Luke examined the carving. ?How old is it??

    ?Nine thousand years old.?

Luke shook his head in amazement. ?Who was he??

    ?A Jedi.?

The youth stared at her. ?A Jedi? Was he a Massassi? Why did they make this??

Lillie laughed. According to her mother, Obi-Wan had not been as curious as his pupil. ?Come with me.?

Luke followed her through the darkened middle room and into the next one. Taking a searchlight from her pocket, Lillie shone it onto the far wall and there it was: a carving consisting of several broken circles.

?It represents the destruction of a planet.?

    ?Which one?? Luke asked.

?No one knows but the Massassi witnessed the event and left this record. It was believed that the Jedi came from there.? Lillie replied. ?There are carvings of the constellations above Yavin on the ground level of the Temple. Obi-Wan noticed that they were wrong.?

    ?Wrong?? Luke listened fascinated.

?These carvings were twelve thousand years old and they show an extra planet on the edge of the Meridian sector. The map in the ceremonial chamber was created two thousa

Yikes! I'm behind. Sorry about that. DRL has kept me busy lately.

Poor Luke. He shouldn't blame himself for Obi-Wan's death. Hopefully, his talk with Lillie will help. It can't be easy for her to answer his questions, though. Luke has an adventurer's spirit, and Lillie has definitely piqued his interest in the tomb! ;)

I like how you compare and contrast Luke ansd Obi-Wan. Bith felt responsible for the death of their Master, but Luke is curious about everything whereas Obi-Wan (if I remember part 1 correctly) had an "I don't wanna be here" attitude.

Gina - Luke has an adventurer's spirit, and Lillie has definitely piqued his interest in the tomb ? There are some questions that she can answer and important information Luke needs to know. In some ways she will have an easier job than Marissa did.

PK - I like how you compare and contrast Luke ansd Obi-Wan. Luke is curious about everything whereas Obi-Wan had an "I don't wanna be here" attitude. ? LOL that just about sums up his attitude from the Lost Temple! He had to be dragged kicking and screaming before he started showing an interest! :)

    I apologize too! [face_blush] I got behind!

Poor Lillie... she knows and can't tell either twin the truth.

I liked Leia wanting to know more about a certain Queen of Naboo ;)

Poor Luke... hearing stories about his father and not getting the whole truth. But he doesn't know that...yet. Man I feel for Lillie in not telling him :(

    Great work!!

Kynstar - I liked Leia wanting to know more about a certain Queen of Naboo - I think Bail would have used the opportunity to tell her something about her mother. Poor Luke... hearing stories about his father and not getting the whole truth. - I think the truth would destroy him, now that Vader has killed Ben.

    Thanks for reading everyone :)

Great updated, Sabe! Nice conversation between Luke and Lillie. Liked how he was struggling with the guilt he still feels over Obi-Wan's death. It can't be easy accepting that someone gave their life for you.

    Part 14

?Can you show me?? Luke asked, looking at the carving of the Jedi in wonder.

Lillie led the way to the fourth level and a room she knew well. It was empty; the Alliance had left it alone.

    ?Then where?? Luke began.

Lillie stopped in front of one of the large stones in the floor. ?The crypt is below our feet.? She explained how her mother and Obi-Wan had discovered the tomb on their second visit to Yavin IV and that Marissa had returned there two years later.

Luke nodded. ?You found something else.?

?We sealed the tomb. He should not be disturbed again but?? She broke off as her comlink bleeped. Answering it, Lillie listened for a moment before replying. ?Yes, he is. We?ll be there.?

    ?Leia?? Luke smiled.

Lillie nodded, putting her comlink away. ?She will meet us in the ceremonial chamber.?

Together they climbed the steps to the top floor in silence. Luke?s thoughts were focused on the Jedi buried within the Temple. He would sleep, safe in the force for thousands of years to come.

Leia met them at the entrance and Lillie watched as the Princess embraced Luke and the two talked quietly. She then led the way across the chamber to the steps leading to the dais. Sitting down, Leia told them that the evacuation was on schedule and would begin the following morning. ?But we still have time to hear the rest of your story.?

    -------------------------------------------

Finishing the last of his drink, Obi-Wan sat back and took another look round the bar. The Imperial blockade of Mos Espa meant that the cantina was almost empty. The regular inhabitants wisely staying away, although the few occupants who remained looked like they had taken advantage of not being able to go anywhere. The Jedi doubted that anyone would be interested in what he and Lillie were doing there.

On their journey to the settlement Lillie had told him about their lives after they had left him on Tatooine. They had fled to Ambria and six months later, when it seemed that the Empire would leave them alone, Marissa and Lillie returned to Dantooine, while Ben rejoined the Rebel Alliance at one of their many bases scattered throughout the galaxy. Her mother?s work had then taken them to Carida, Aquaris and Talasea.

While he waited for Lillie to return, Obi-Wan continued Marissa?s letter.

I suppose looking back, I should have realised just how seriously Master Sifo-Dyas took the discovery we had made. We had only been on Anobis a couple of days when he arrived?

    ---------------------------

Marissa took her time climbing the hill towards the ruins. It was still early morning but already the heat was becoming unbearable. Stopping to catch her breath, she looked back down at the clearing where the new Republic ship now stood alongside the Professor's Nubian cruiser. Shifting the container in her arms, Marissa brushed her hair out of her eyes before resuming her climb.

Professor Milovy and the Jedi were standing by the ruined wall. As she approached, Marissa could see that the Jedi was holding the tablet fragment in his hands.

"?and you are sure about the translation?"

Professor Milovy nodded. "That is what it says."

The Jedi Master raised his head and Marissa saw his expression was serious. "I must inform the Council at once." Nodding to Marissa he handed the tablet back to the Professor. "I would like to see the remains before I leave."

"You are not going to stay?" Milovy asked, exchanging a surprised glance with Marissa.

Master Sifo-Dyas shook his head. "I will send someone else to oversee the work here."

"Very well." The Professor returned the tablet to its protective wrapping then took the container from Marissa. "Marissa will show you."

As they walked across the site, Marissa took the opportunity to study the Jedi Master. He looked several years older than the Professor, just past middle age and his dark hair was beginning to be flecked with grey. Sensing her interest, Sifo-Dyas turne

Master Sifo-Dyas shook his head. "I will send someone else to oversee the work here."

Wow, you're taking us back to even before The Lost Temple started.

He continued to look down at her curiously and smiled suddenly as if something had amused him.

Hmmm... Did he know Obi-Wan and Marrisa were related? Is that why he sent Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to take his place?

Marissa hurried down the corridor of the Jedi outpost on Dantooine and pushed open the heavy wooden doors to Master Sifo-Dyas?s chamber.

Oh, and you're going to just stop there??? Very cruel of you, Sabe, very cruel.
