Last night, I went to see the new Manchurian Canidate, and if you ignored the fact that it was a remake, it was a pretty good film, at least in my opinion.

I've also seen the original version with Frank Sinatra and though that that was an EXCELLENT film.

What are your thoughts on the new and old versions of this film?

Never saw the original, but I really want to as I thought the remake was pretty damn good. I had no idea what to expect going into it, and was really surprised by the film's intensity and the superb performances by all the lead characters.

Haven't seen the original but I caught this last night and it was a very good movie- very well done.

And a guy I used to work with was a background FBI agent in a scene as well, hehe.

ezekiel22x: You should definitely see the old one, it's excellent! My problem was that I saw the old on before the new one so it kind amad eth remake seem not as good, but still good.

Yes, the last 30 minutes are very very eventful. And Denzel Washington is a superb actor in it, alogn with Meryl Streep, especially Meryl Streep.

I also have never seen the original. But this movie was very good. Not as good as the Bourne Supremacy but still very good.

I saw the original a few years ago, and I saw the new version today; both are very good.

I thought it was horrible- disjointed, poorly edited, devoid of narrative, tension or release. I really have zero positive things to say about this movie, and I must say that this my least favorite Denzel Washington movie of all time.

It seems like everyone here likes the movie, but I could hardly stand the lack of any resolution or payoff for any of the story arcs presented in the film. Maybe it's because I'm a filmmaker, but I found the direction and script of this film to be one of the mostly sloppiest productions I've ever seen. It's like half of the movie was cut out to get it to it's lackluster disorienting 130 minutes!

I love the original! i was all set to see the re-make but lost interest after i saw a commercial that seemed to give away a "twist" in the movie. that's all i say in case anyone has not seen the comerical i'm talking about.

I went into this movie not knowing what to expect (this is how I like to go to movies) and not having seen the original. I thought the movie was very suspenseful and intriguing. I wouldn't say that it is one of my favorite movies of all time, but it was definitely worth the $7 I paid to go see it. I love a movie that makes me think about it long after leaving the theatre, and this movie did that for me.

I didn't like this movie. It was tedious and predictable. And the cinematography really got on my nerves.

Obi-Sauron: What did you think of the whole Queen of Diamonds thing from the original? Oh, and the part where he's in the bar and then someone says the trigger phrase and then he walks right into a lake.
