Star Wars returns to May release, finally then. Although Solo did premiere in May remember. Was maybe hoping for early May release instead - that has worked so well for Marvel over the last years. Marvel still have an untitled Avengers movie ( the former Kang Dynasty film) scheduled for that slot in 2026. Memorial Day weekend is not as huge for movies like it used to be, but it can also be that the quality of the movies that has opened in that weekend, is not that good. Anyway - its a release date for a new Star Wars feature, and its all good for now!

I can't see Mandalorian and Grogu doing much more than Solo so I hope the budget is relatively small....

I think that's the desired hope that it would make more than $400 mil

Anyone who's saying that the Grogu movie won't make much more than Solo doesn't probably realize how popular "baby Yoda" is even among people who generally don't care much for Star Wars. All the hardcore SW fans will go. Most of the more casual SW fans will go. A very good chunk of the general audience that would otherwise not go to a Star Wars movie will also go. I will be shocked if that movie makes less than 800 million dollars.

I agree. Though I also believe it will in part depend on the trailers and the marketing campaign. If the film looks redundant, silly and small and not like an event film to see on the big screen, it could be a Solo-level disappointment at the Box Office. But I doubt they'll make that mistake.

You`re the guy that tipped the correct opening weekend number for TFA remember. This time - you will be so wrong. Disney/ Lucasfilm will not allow the first Star Wars outing in 7 years to flop. And no, a big budget will be needed for this one. It has to look way more epic in scale than what the tv series does. This is cinema after all. This is also Bob Igers pet project i feel, so he will sanction huge marketing money for this. In 2026 i think cinemas will be pretty much over post covid hell, and back to normal. Maybe we won`t see Star Wars cross the billion dollar mark for some time, but this film has every chance to do $ 600 - 800 mill WW. Solo did $ 393 mill WW.

Camping out for three days to get tickets for ROTS was some of the most fun I've ever had. However, since I'm not 18 anymore, I do like that I can simply buy the tickets online these days. :p

Maybe next pandemic will be AI generated. Lets hope it goes another 100 years, like it was between the last two.

That sounds fun! I never camped out but did wait 6 hours for TPM tickets. Some people did do the camp out though. I miss those events

Aren’t some theaters playing the entire Skywalker saga on Memorial Day weekend this year?

that sounds like quite the marathon for all movies straight in a row in a theater. These days — to quote Robin Williams’ brother in Mrs. Doubtfire (played by the brilliant Harvey Fierstein) when asked if he could make him look like Joan Collins — I don’t think I have the strength.

I just about got through Raiders, TOD and Last Crusade in a sitting recently (I left after that).. can't begin to imagine how one does 9 films...

If a cinema chair is comfortable enough that I could physically endure a 9 film marathon, it is comfortable enough that I will lapse into a coma at some point midway through the OT.
