Luke taking Grogu at this stage actually puts the passage he "wrote" in The Secrets of the Jedi about children and the sides of the Force in a new light. I need to go back and actually read it with this in mind, now.

    Certainly now looks that way.

I'm wondering if, given the continuance of lost cinema income as a result of Covid, Disney decide to start issuing BR / UHD discs for their streaming series because they need to fill the gap somehow. Plus they realise the two formats aren't as competitive as they feared.

Id be shocked but pleased to have a disc release of Mandalorian, but Disney is so terrible with home video I'm not expecting much.

you may have a point about hardcovers being difficult to come by, otherwise my experience is that they are readily accessible for little to no money, I often check when I’m in a book store, both the new sections and the used sections, and legends books are plentiful, often in both sections.

and the libraries here in Bangor and Portland have all of them, I mean you may have to go to the main branch and have them search all the other branches, but they have them, that’s what I do if I want to read them now days.

I still have the x wing novels though, I’m going to keep those forever

It's usually smart for streaming services to offer physical releases of the earlier seasons of their shows to potentially draw in new subscribers for the newer seasons and shows. Plus it gets another few months equivalent of subscription fees from people already paying for subscriptions.

    But...

    ...this, alas.

We can only hope that LFL would push for collector releases down the road, after a certain streaming window of 2 years or something.

But, then again, we still don't even have Freemaker Adventures on BD.

Neither of you are wrong about Disney's track record but I think Covid continuing may force some changes. At least I hope so.

Until now I don't think Disney has realised how the collecting tendency works.

Covid, I would think, would have a negative impact on the appeal of physical releases to them. Something they need to have people manufacture and ship to half-empty stores? Why deal with delays when they can push D+?

I think once we get past the D+ launch and initial expansion and it stabilizes its base, they can then look to use physical as further incentives. Until then, they may feel a physical release would diminish the sales appeal of a subscription by making that content no longer service-exclusive.

Net sales of books are through the roof, not sure if the same applies to UHD / BR / DVD but, even if they treat these as niche products, which you could say they are, they still represent some income as opposed to zero.

And us lot will buy them and subscribe to D+.

Alternatively, they blow the lid off and sell online, downloadable MP4s, that aren't tied to a specific subscription -only player and watch sales go through the roof.

It's weird how Disney has all this money but Walt Disney Home Entertainment itself seems to be severely lacking in terms of transfer quality and special features. The whole reason I got into home video purchasing in the first place was the aftermath of the LOTR Appendices I loved BTS content of all varieties. I wouldn't mind a service similar to Warner Archive which doesn't always have the best features but sometimes better transfers in regards to Warner Home Video. Talking strictly BR here, don't know anything about WA DVD releases besides being DVD-Rs which to me isn't good.

Yeah, to me, Space Waffles were all over Rebels. There's an episode, maybe the meiloorun episode, where Hera writes out a grocery list, and one of the items on the list is Space Waffles.

You know how they sell Star Wars waffle irons that make waffles that have Darth Vader's face on them or the outline of the Death Star or something? They should sell a Space Waffle waffle iron. I'd be all over that. Hell, they should sell frozen Space Waffles in grocery stores. I'd be all over that even more! Put BB-8 and a Porg and some First Order troopers on the box, market it to kids. STAR WARS SPACE WAFFLES by Eggo!

I want vegan Space Waffles. Break into the Whole Foods Star Wars market. Disney has already partnered with MorningStar Farms to make Mickey shaped vegan chick'n nuggets.

Eh, idk this counts as "playboy Luke." Both Gaeriel and Tanith fall pretty firmly into the "got close while working on a mutual project and kissed once before Luke left" category and Akanah was after Callista when Luke was depressed and sad and pretty sure he was gonna die alone, lol. Callista, yes for sure, and Mara, but idk this makes him a playboy--a flirt, maybe, ish?

It's funny, because Children of the Jedi and Planet of the Twilight are honestly two of my favorite Bantam era books. Character wise, they are absolutely fantastic, I think both for Luke, and honestly Callista. I heard so many terrible things about Callista before reading and I was utterly stunned at how much I loved her. She's so much more than just "a girl who got stuck in the body of one of Luke's hot Jedi students" which is what I was led to believe. The Crystal Star was a hot mess, but tbh it was absolutely hilarious and totally harmless. Leia was insane, but Luke and Han are pretty spot on character wise, and it's a laugh tbh.

I agree that finding hardcovers can be a challenge, but I've amassed the entirety of Bantam in mass market paper backs through online stores and used bookshops for pretty cheap. Even hardcovers of Thrawn can be easy to find online (and I'm trying to get rid of mine bc I hate them, lol)

So 4-5 sexual partners over the course of 15 years is considered being a "playboy" lol

If you're just referring to the Bantam era, Tanith Shire and Shira Brie don't apply. Taking comics into account, how can you forget Jem Ysanna? The classic tale of "meets Luke, instantly falls in love, and then dies by the end of the story."

I also like Luke's only canon romance, Nakari Kelen. She died at the end of the book too, though.

TV Tropes calls it the Cartwright Curse, after the family from Bonanza. Every love interest was either going to die or leave by the end of the episode.

I dunno, Leia made it through ANH and ESB alive :p And he was crushing hard. Maybe it's 'cuz she didn't crush back to the same degree.
