The Mandalorian The Mandalorian Season 3 Discussion (Spoilers Allowed)

I think after O’Reilly’s powerhouse performance in Andor, yeah, it would be a very odd, head-scratching choice to not cast her as Mothma if she appears in Mando. And I imagine O’Reilly could feel slighted. I hope she’s in it. Not a necessity, but I think it could be a great opportunity to connect Andor to Mando.

 

How slighted are we talking here? Would she quit Andor immediately? Would she disparage Lucasfilm on all her social media platforms? How bad would the backlash be? Just curious since you seemed so attuned to her thinking.

 

I think you should do a mix of both.

 

I don't think any actors who play the younger version of a character will play the older version of the character. I feel like they may be very cautious with the idea of that.

Just like when people say Ewan could play older Obi Wan. When i don't think they will ever do that either.

I doubt there would be any consequences along those lines, as she seems to be a reasonable person. To me it it’s just important to do right by the actress - more important than being rigid about this recasting rule. She delivered an excellent performance as Mothma, and she’s the right age.

I think it’s pretty obvious why not having O’Reilly in the role, if she’s shown, is not the best idea. But we’ll see. I will accept an excellent Deep Fake of Blakiston, if they go that route, because I…will watch every single thing in the GFFA. But I wouldn’t be thrilled about it.

Unless they go the route of Mon Mothma being a larval stage moth-like alien that enters a cocoon sometime between Rogue One and ROTJ, and then emerges as the Blakiston version. Then yeah. That’s a story I could get behind.

Mon Mothma is coming to the Mandoverse and her demilitarisation of the New Republic will be a major plot point .

It seems like Mothma may be used a lot in the new TV content, which I think makes it unlikely they will be using an 89 year old actress.

I thought the rule about recasting only applied to the main characters from the OT. But nevertheless, no policy is absolute even if some fans would like it to be.

It probably won't happen because Filoni knows Star Wars virtually like the back of his hand, but I hope this "Mon Mothma Act of Disarmament" is not introduced during this Season of Mando; as it could potentially lead to continuity errors. I hope it's involved in a flashback of some kind.

Because I first read about this in Aftermath a few years ago and Wookiepedia mentions how it was raised by Mon Mothma after the Battle of Endor and implemented just after the Battle of Jakku. As we know, the Battle of Jakku happens a year after ROTJ and Mando (Season 1) is approximately 5 years after ROTJ. So there lies a potential continuity error if not done correctly.

Maybe it's Mon Mothma trying to get some of The Mandalorians (any who have been visible in the Galaxy) to lay down 90% of their arms and The Mandalorians refuse.

I'm very interested in how they will tie this concept together with what was mentioned in Aftermath and how it will be done in Mando. But probably shouldn't worry because the tie-in of Operation Cinder into Mando from the Battlefront computer game and the Inferno Squad novel was pretty good I felt.

 

The book Aftermath trilogy might just get more and more important now. We gotten Cobb Vanth and might get more from this book. Lets finally see Chandrila pls. I love it if we visits a planet harmed by Operation Cinder, season 2 already made a mention of it.

 

I hope so. It's something that I really praise Fav and Filoni in particular of - their brilliant ability to tie in multiple story formats and narratives across different media sources in a natural and organic way. They are brilliant at this very concept, probably more than any other producer so far in all live action offerings.

And there ability to do this just strengthens the overall narrative too iMO.

Also, I want Chandrilla too!

 

If they show us mutch of the early New Republic and why it might fail. At least might help and redeem why First Order manage to infiltrate and take over once ST trilogy starts. And maybe we could see in future seasons the start of Luke's Jedi Acedemy and he grows from Jedi Knight and into Jedi Master role. Give fans the Luke Skywalker they dreamed of since watching ROTJ. And you can marry the versions of Luke Skywalker, from OT, Legends books and his ST version. And what will be the future of certain force users who are not offically jedi but are jedi, Ezra, Ahsoka, Grogu? Jacen Syndulla?

 

I don't why we'd need to see Mothma instituting the demilitarization law. You just need to show her or other discussing it or its effects on the current state of the NR. Not everything requires a flashback.

 

For me, it's not so much as seeing the act, but rather it not being introduced as a "new" concept in Mando 3. Because that would be a continuity error as it does not fit the timeline.

I said flashback because that would help line up with what this rumour was stating.

But hopefully it is more as you said @The Chalk Jedi where the scenes are people discussing it. And given its in Mando 3, hopefully the concept more plays out in the Mandalorians refusing to do this because with or without helmet, it's in their culture to be armed - it's their bloodline.

And they are not as stupid as The New Republic

 

I wouldn't worry because I think the show has already indirectly referred to the Act a few times when characters talk about the New Republic's weakness or when when we see prisons run mostly by droids or just two New Republic rangers out patrolling the outer rim. All of that implies that the New Republic is demilitarized, i.e., "weak."

The Act will be discussed more directly either because of the Mandos rearming or because of armed Imperial remnants. It will be easy and natural for a law to be discussed in such a context.

I wouldn't be surprised if Thrawn appears first on this Show i predict that Ezra will join Luke Jedi Order maybe Cal Kestis too Corran Horn i believe was referenced in the Kenobi Show so New Canon Horn may also join Luke Jedi Order if he exist in the New Canon

 

We might get some force user characters that join Luke or Ahsoka/Ezra canon Horn might be our Kenobi connection. Maybe other legends and canon book characters appear.

 

Looks like no final trailer for The Mandalorian Season 3 today. Guess because of the 1-week delay of the Season 3 premiere, we're stuck waiting a little longer.
