I was halfway through the library's copy when I lost it. Tis not good. I have to pay for it, plus I didn't even finish it. Not fair...

Um... except that it's a planet and not on Earth.

This is going a bit off topic from Cloak of Deception, someone might want to start a new thread on this.

No need for a new post.
This discussion isn't going anywhere. We just have different PsOV.

Yes, but the planet plays the role of earth, like Mace plays the role of whatever-the-guy's-name-is and Depa plays the role of Shultz.

I thought this book was really great, it was really interesting to see how Palpatine engineered his way to power and how it lead into the events in Episode One.

This book and The Unifying Force are making me look forward to the new February 2005 hardcover (the Episode III lead in) more than the new movie itself.

Well, since I'm here I might as well say that CoD is one of the best books I have read. Can't say how it stacks up against other novels(started on literature a year ago, and so far read only SW books... and The Hobbit) but it was pretty darn good.
It should be shiped with every copy of TPM, cuz with it the film is much more enjoyable.
It also showed that Palapatine was much smarter than I thought.

Well, he was able to engineer the fall of the republic almost single handedly.

    Ummm, Charlie?

Plagiarism is a serious charge. Maybe you should look it up before you start throwing it around. And maybe you should finish watching APOCALYPSE NOW, and reading HEART OF DARKNESS. (And reading SHATTERPOINT, if you haven't.) When you have done those things, we can talk again.

btw, I thought CoD was really good, too. Jim's a terrific writer.

I only recently read it about 2 months ago, but I have to say it's the best prequel book behind Shatterpoint. Shadow Hunter was good, too. ;)

I greatly enjoyed the politics and slight hints to the Sid/Palps connection. The bit about Sids' hologram seeming to come from Eriadu, which just happened to be were Palps was at the time: brilliant.

    The cameos were nice too.

    2 things:

    1. I loved Shatterpoint and Traitor.

    2. Cloak of Deception is extremely good. I would have liked a little more on the Nebula Front, and maybe how they are being manipulated overtly by the Sith (as opposed to covertly via Palps and Havac). I wish that the cameos would have been a little bigger, like they were in TUF, but they were still refreshing, but they were still good. My personal favorite line:

"Watched him train, I did. Seen the steam, I have."
