Mentioned this a few days ago that the entire area with the tall statues could just be Night Sisters, but they do give off a Zeffo vibe too...

And the leader of red warriors helmet is a bit evocative of the Zeffo. Who also seem to like gold.

Yes very interesting. We know from the game they left the main galaxy. So maybe they got control of some Star Whales and got to Peridea. And you got Zeffo and nightsister witches in one planet

This makes me wonder if the Nightsisters learned their magic from the remains of the Zeffo civilization [face_thinking]

iirc, one of the Zeffo tombs from J:FO held a Zeffo ruler who tried to perform resurrection with the Force. That is what the Nightsisters were interested in too

Well this episode revealed the Nightsister been around doing stuff since before the time of Star Wars galaxies began. So maybe Nightsisters thought the Zeffo.

    Been seeing this around:

Cautious as to whether it's just a reused J:FO asset, but intriguing.

Damn, now I’m starting to become slightly hopeful Cal and Merrin could make their live action debuts soon. [face_nail_biting]

Nah, they've gotta have Jedi: The Third One first. Maybe soon before the movie, then they appear.

    ---

Using Tor Valum as a Zeffo ruler of the Nightsisters would certainly continue the tradition of mining unused concept art. Kujet himself is dead and buried on Dathomir.

How old you thinking Zeffo are Dawn of the Jedi era or Old Republic era. The Nightsister deffently seems be around Dawn of the Jedi era.

I reckon their culture long pre-dates the Jedi, but their ultimate fall and exodus occurred after several centuries (or even millennia) of contact with the Jedi. However, the two groups likely initially learned about the Force/Life Wind independently.

Yes i am thinking Nightsisters witches came first, then Zeffo and Rakata and Jedi. And each of them lost their Empires to the Jedi Order over the Millennium.

There could be some crossover between the Zeffo and the Nightsisters. Three Sages, Three Great Mothers...

Maybe the Nightsisters began as servants of Kujet, some rebelled against him, whereas others clearly didn't, since someone built him a tomb.

It's a bit odd that despite having apparently diverged millennia ago and presumably had no contact other than some scary whispering, the Nightsister populations in both galaxies seem culturally identical.

It's a seismic shift lore-wise for them to be in another galaxy, but so far there doesn't seem to be anything especially different about it - hopefully whatever Baylan's looking for provides that.

Having said that I love the aesthetic of Peridea generally, just slightly bumping on the fact that it's just another Star Wars planet with the same Nightsisters.

I think the main reason for all of this is 1) to bring the Nightsisters back. And 2) some other terror is lurking in this other galaxy. Or maybe even multiple new threats. But there's one coming for sure.

Star Wars creators are very, very deliberate. There’s no way they would recycle an asset line that without purpose. Even if it just remains background color, if it refers to the Zeffo, then it means to.

Then I think it would be very odd for them not to be somehow involved in Baylan's whole "Can't you see/hear/taste/smell it?" thread.

(Sorry if I've missed anyone off).

That is First Class digging! Indiana Jones level. :)

Unless the 3 witches are named in the same arbitrary way as Klaatu, Barbara, Nikto, their names appear to hold a lot of significance for the potential Night Trooper, zombie army.

So far, they (and Morgan) are the only witches we have seen alive on Peridea. The temple area looks pretty sparse - what happened? Are the sarcophagi containing other dead witches? Is the deal between Thrawn and the witches a truce after battling each other? Or did the witches die out a long time ago and are preserved in the sarcophagi? Have the witches been helping Thrawn keep his troops alive long enough to fend off a third race? Lots of possibilities.

I mentioned in a different thread how there seems to be a lot of gold, which was also used in Sith artifacts (from Legends). These artifacts produced abilities like changing people, controlling minds, etc. Maybe there's an effort to incorporate some older Legends material?

Seems possible. Maybe Zeffo/Nightsisters situation was somewhat alike to Rakata/Force Hounds one in the EU. Or witches were even outright artificially created by Zeffo.
Will not be surprised if there will be retcons soon regarding their biology, making them somewhat like Asari from Mass Effect, also establishing that males from other species were used as Nightbrothers before Zabrak ones.

Seems the Zeffo markings mentions the Zeffo Sith Kujet who had dominoan over Dathomir.

The article included here is a good little rundown on alchemy and gold. What's mentioned is mummification in Egypt and their belief in life after death, Taoist monks searching for the elixir of life, an ecclesiastical court case involving a man accused of using alchemy and magic, and having the magicians on his payroll invoke demons, and making a pact with a Devil (and some other gruesome details involved in that process). There's also mention of the legendary philosopher's stone, and how it supposedly held the secret to turning mercury or lead into gold and the resultant long life or possible immortality. It also mentions lead being representative of sinful and unrepentant individuals who are readily overcome by the forces of darkness.

Could be a much more obvious, straightforward answer than Abeloth.

But one thing I want out of Ahsoka is that the Nightsisters return to the GFFA. They are great antagonists for the bokken Jedi, as well as Luke's new order Jedi.

Hmm... ancient sith text and their ship being named the eye of Sion. Are we going to be getting some KOTOR connections into canon through the Nightsisters and Peridea?

The clues point toward a Zeffo connection. Baylan's comments suggest that it wasn't only the Nightsisters who originated in this other galaxy. The tales and legends of the Witch Kingdom of Peridea seem to be connected to the origin of the Jedi Order as well. This suggests that the first Jedi, the Prime Jedi or Jedi Prime, could have been a Zeffo.

And this would actually tie back to early ideas Lucas had while writing drafts for the first Star Wars film, where the Jedi Order originated in a holy man known as "the Skywalker" who passed down his knowledge of the Force to his family. It's possible Lucas meant for the Father in Mortis to be this figure back when he was involved, but the creators of the new canon may want to do more with that character, and so it makes sense that they'd give that role to a new character whose story hasn't been resolved.
