In Jedi Knight II we have an army of Cortosis-armored Dark Jedi. The game also says that Cortosis comes from Bespin, IIRC.

If you mean Jedi outcast II, than you mean the Shadow Troopers. I played the game once, and they were pretty dang tough. If I remember correctly their armor, as you said, has cortosis ore in it, and they are Force- sensitive.

The Seperatist Morgukai Clone Army in Clone Wars (Republic #70+) has also vibroswords with cortosis in it to fight Jedi as well as Republic Clone Troopers.

Well, pull your finger out and write some novels! Bons mots are all very well, Lekauf, but who pounds the keyboard 20 hours a day, eh?

You can get your own back when your comic story comes out. [face_laugh]

Re: Mandalorian Armor vs. Katarn-class or clone trooper armor.

It's apples and oranges, to some extent. The secrets of Mando armorsmithing are older than the stars; clone trooper armor was produced by Kaminoan armorsmiths, who use completely different techniques for completely different purposes.

Mando armor is personalized, created for the wearer, as a part of his or her whole being.

Katarn armor is mass-produced, created for a mission profile and a specific set of requirements.

They are different tools, for different jobs. They have different strengths and different functions.

Okay, I'll take my razor-sharp wit and fine Kaminoan recipes elsewhere, then....:D

Do the Kaminoans actually make the armor or do they use a sub-contractor, like they did with Rothana for the vehicles.

Starwarsshop.com has the Covert Ops Clone on sale.
Commemorating the release of Revenge of the Sith on DVD, StarWarsShop brings you this new, exclusive clone trooper figure -- the Covert Ops Clone Trooper. This figure debuts a new line of troopers being released by Hasbro in the coming months. In addition, the figure comes packaged on a special backer card sporting the Episode III DVD logo and art -- one of only a few Hasbro products that will feature this compelling look.

Some missions do not rely upon the overwhelming numbers and battle strength of the clone army. Sometimes, you need covert op troopers to get the job done and seal an enemy's fate, often long before anyone is even aware that they're on the scene. The covert ops troopers are the infiltrators of the clone forces, using prototype armor coated with light-warping material called reflec to escape detection and their advanced training to move silently through enemy territory.

The Covert Ops Clone Trooper is partially covered in a vac-metallized finish, with camouflaged patterning on select sections of armor. Armed with a DC-15 blaster and DC-15A rifle, this is one trooper not to be trifled with. Comes with the exclusive, StarWarsShop-branded protective collector case.Due to the limited quantity of this figure, purchases are limited to 5 per customer.

Reminds me of Imperial Radzone Troopers: Kinky Silver Armor. ;)

Leland and I discussed this at one point, and we had the Kaminoans making the armor. Hence the white sterility.

Now... I'll be $#&$*^ed if I can remember which source that went into. I'm thinking it was the strategy guide for Republic Commando. Anyone got one of those close at hand?

I'd like to know what unit people think is best: The Galactic Marines, the 212th Attack Battallion, the 327th Star Corps, the 41st Elite, the 501st, or the shock troopers

The 501st??? Haw! Don't make me laugh... Double-ha! I have laughed again!

Those wusses have never been stationed anywhere but Centax and Coruscant and Kamino. They've never known a life without regular meals, a life without air-conditioning, climate-control, and soft pillows for their widdle heads to sweep at night.

Cmon. They may call themselves the elite and Vader's Fist and all manner of self-aggrandizing bantha poodoo, but when you REALLY want something done... when it's something dangerous and frightening and risky as all get-out.... you do not call the 501st.

    You call the Marines.

"Hello? Commander Bacara? I need the impossible."

41st, obviously. Why none of the others bother to wear actual camo is beyond me.[face_not_talking]

Pshaw! Teh 501st roxorz! See them kill lots of sight-imparing-helmet-wearing, lisping Younglings in the Jedi Temple! Gasp as they fail to shoot two droids ambling slowly through a storm of laserfire in a hallway so narrow Jabba couldn't even fit his pinky finger through it! Snort as you repeatedly send them to their firey deaths in Battlefront II!

Meh, Commander 'The Wolf' Bacara's Galactic Marines all the way.

Ki-Adi-Mundi's big fat conehead is thirty parsecs away. I'll be there in ten.

Personally, I've always had a thing for the 327th Star Corps. This is fir three reasons: 1. Bly has always been my favorite Clone Commander. 2. Their armor, at least the ones we see in ROTS is awesome. And 3. They've got the hottest Jedi General in the galaxy.[face_devil]

Um, in general I'd agree with you, but I think they were supposed to leave any droids undamaged in the event that The Plans had been stored in them.[face_thinking]

They went to hunt Poggle the Lesser, who uses a cane, and some cowardly Neimoidians considered too harmless for even Anakin to slaughter?

[yawn] Cmon, Tam... you'll have to do better than that. ;)

I have a question about the training of the clone commandos: Did they attend training sessions with the normal clone troopers?

You should see him in Clone Campaigns! He's bloody lethal!

    >>" some cowardly Neimoidians considered too harmless for even Anakin to slaughter?"<<

Maybe...they were consided too DANGEROUS for Anakin to handle!
