Not actually sure if these guys are ARCs; since many clone troopers apparently adopt the armour style of their commanders, it seems Bly's 327th Star Corps troops merely follow his dress code. Bly isn't an ARC, though he is ARC-trained.

 

regarding the appearance of ARCs in ROTS:

the latest SW insider says:

page 38, issue 82:
"Both ARC troopers and clone commandos are part of the Star Wars Expanded Universe, and do not appear in Revenge of the Sith.

In a photo showing Bly, the caption mentions that he is a "Star Corps Clone commander".

 

Kween, they weren't with Bly's troops.

 

Cody is in the movie and isn't he supposed to be a Clone Commander? That Insider issue looks to have been wrong. There are ARCs and Clone Commander's in the movie.

 

Clone Commandos aren't in the movie. They're the fellows from Republic Commando.

 

Agreed. No Republic Commandos in the movie. Sorry! And that's just as well, because if any of them had been KIA, I would have been jolly cross.

And no ARCs. But then I think some guy on this board who seemed to have an unusual degree of access to the movie's details way back said as much, and was not believed.

As the regimental mascot* to the assorted special forces of the GAR, I back up Insider's continuity here. But I confess to a few double-takes of RotS footage.

(* The first person to suggest an appropriate species of amusing animal here feels the full kinetic energy of my Verp. )

 

Tril: Might they be the proto-snowtrooper guys with Ki-Adi-Mundi and Commander Bacara on Mygeeto?

BARC troopers: I think BARC trooper isn't an actual rank per se, but just a generic label for any trooper who is riding a BARC speeder. After all, the proto-biker scouts seen riding them on Kashyyyk (and labelled a BARC trooper on the toy) are also used on Kashyyyk as basic infantary.

 

Okay, is this right:
Arcs trained Commanders, and the Commanders troops dress like them (so to speak).

Also, who are all the clone commanders known, what do their troops look like, and does anyone have pics of them.

Ms. Traviss, No doubt your favorite RCs are Fi, Atin, Niner, and Darman, but who are your favorite ARCs, Commanders, and regular clones.

 

The clone commanders in RotS are ARC-trained only; they're not ARCs themselves. It was said almost three years ago that by the end of the war, advancements in clone trooper training makes the ARC trooper obsolete. The RotS clone commander is proof of this. There are technically no ARCs in RotS, but the clone commanders are now the closest equivalent to them.

And yeah, it looks like clone troops follow the commander's dress code.

The known commanders are:
- Cody (CC-2224) with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Squad Seven on Utapau (orange-marked)
- Bly (CC-5052) with Aayla Secura and 327th Star Corps on Felucia (red/orange-marked ARC-a-likes)
- Gree (CC-1004) with Yoda on Kashyyyk (camo-clones)
- Bacara (CC-1138) with Ki-Adi-Mundi on Mygeeto (snow-clones)
- Thire (CC-4477) with Palpatine on Coruscant (red shock troopers)
- Appo (CC-1119) with Anakin Skywalker and 501st Legion on Coruscant (blue stormtroopers)
- Neyo (CC-????) with Stass Allie and BARC squadron on Saleucami (biker clones)
- Odd Ball (CC-????) with Clone Fight Squad Seven in the Open Circle armada over Coruscant (clone pilots)

 

Theres Neyo as well, hes the one who killed Stass.

 

Added Neyo and Odd Ball. They're the only two we don't currently have numbers for. I wonder if any of the deleted Order 66 shots had other commanders in? Who was the commander with Quin on Boz Pity? Although he was blasted by a Juggernaut, there would likely have been a commander with him to ensure his death.

My fave ARC is of course my own nutty but admirable Ordo (N-11). Commanders: Cody. No preference on the troopers. They're all My Boys!

 

Good list Kwenn. Don't forget Captain Fordo, from the Clone Wars cartoons. There's also a handful of unnamed ones from Labyrinth of Evil and the Clone Wars toons (like the guy on board Saesee Tiin's ship) that are just begging me to go and track them down...

I was only compiling a list of Clone Commanders in RotS, there.

 

Omega Squad: Targets.

 

On Utapau, there were two legions of clones, one with Commander Cody, the other with an unkonwn commmander.
And Bly's troops are yellow, only Bly himself has some red markings

And here a pic of nearly all known commanders, except Appo (who looks like all of 501st) and Thire (looks just like a Shock Trooper):

Obviously you missed Insider #81, and my spiffy new short story...

It's OMEGA SQUAD: TARGETS and it introduces ARC Captain Ordo, who's working with Kal Skirata. His designation is N-11, and he's a rather special lad.

 

Ooh, just thought of another one - unnamed guy with red markings. He looks exactly like Bly, but red markings, like in the action figure (and also seen in the VD).

Rats. Stupid UK Star Wars mag, it's months behind Insider. Hopefully Hyperspace will reprint Targets soon. ARC Ordo has interested me....

Oh, and are we sure that second Utapau clone is a commander? Maybe he's just one of Cody's officers?

In the Visual Dictionary, this guy actually was mentioned as a ARC, not a commander

And on the pic also Odd Ball is left, but I guess he looks just like a usual Clone Pilot.

Only Commanders and ARC may customize their armor, so it must be a Commander. And as I said, there are two legions un Utapau, Cody's and the one of the unkown Commander. This is just so in the Souvenir Guide, that sais "Obi-Wan took two battalions with him to Utapau"

And one more guess: Since both Utapau Commanders have organge markings (not the same, but both orange), I suggest the planet gives us the color, and the layout of the markings the legion affilation...

Didn't it just say ARC at the side, which could be chalked up to Luceno often refering to the Commanders as 2nd / 3rd gen ARCs.

What about the mini's Clone Commander too, he had a rocket launcher and stuff, which Bly didn't.

I was talking to the editor of the UK mag at CIII and he said Targets would be in the mag later this year.

 

Ok, so take the VD-Commander also as an Commander. I think this is the one in the background we see in RotS, behind Obi-Wan and Ani talkin.

Who the mini Commander is, I have really no idea... but since he's yellow markings, I would guess Bly with some special equipment...

Likely, since LoE originally stated Cody was an ARC, but was slightly altered before release.

Yeah, I guess the Utapau clone could be the second battalion commander, but it isn't only commanders and ARCs who customize their armour - since a commander's troops also modify their armour to suit the style of their leader, legion or planet.
