Going to take a stab at asking everyones opinion. Do you think Darth Vader would be as interesting a character if GL had not made him Luke & Leia's father. Would it have worked in Anakin was actually killed by Darth Vader, as opposed to becoming him ?

Darth Vader is great, he single handedly destroyed the Emperor, He almost very nearly kicked his son's butt.I like Darth Vader, I like him better than stupid Jar Jar and I also even like him better than Anakin Skywalker before he became Vader, in fact I hope that there is a scene in the third movie where we see Anakin appear as Darth Vader for the first time.

I have a question for everyone now...

Before seeing ROTJ, what did you think Vader looked like under his mask?

He actually looked BETTER than I thought he would, though he still looked like hell! When I saw the back of his head in his chamber scene with Piett in ESB, I thought his face would look the same; kinda like a giant cauliflower!! No eyes or anything, just a big lip-like thing in the center of his face! Sounds funny I know, but keep in mind, ESB was the first of the series I ever saw and I had no clue Vader was really a human (or half-human), as I knew zilch about Star Wars. Now whenever I watch his reveal in ROTJ, I can't help but think of Uncle Fester on crack!!

 

I didn't pay attention in the ESB and i thought he was going to be James Erl Jones

I always picture James Earl Jones before I knew ROJ. I still sort of do to this day. It's the voice.

How could I have missed this thread before?!?! Darth Vader is my favourtie movie or book character of all time. He's basically the personification of Star Wars (at least for me). He has some of the most memorable scenes and lines ever. I am ddefinitly joining this club .
