So the update is coming and you're working on a new fiction piece for Insider? As always, you've made my day. Thanks, Jason!

I was recently reading the X-wing novels again and two names kept jumping at me: General Horton Salm and General Edor Crespin.

I know the Essential Guide to Warfare was planning a bio for Salm but almost nothing is known on Crespin.

Facts on Salm I'm aware of:
    Veteran Y-wing pilot
Was a colonel at the Battle of Endor, led Gray Group & Gray Squadron
From Norval II in the Outer Rim.
Led Aggressor Wing at the Battles of Brentaal and Ciutric.
Led Defender Wing in the months leading to the capture of Coruscant.
    Part of Tycho Celchu's tribunal.
    Led a B-wing group in Isard's Revenge.

Facts on Crespin I'm aware of:
    Veteran A-wing pilot.
Was a colonel at the briefing aboard Home One, possibly flew in the Battle of Endor (that fact is unconfirmed)
    From Corulag in the Core.
Led Comet Squadron for a time, Face Loran was a member of the unit for a time.
Led Blue Squadron at the Battles of Folor and Ession.
Commanded the frigate Tedevium during the remainder of the Zsinj Campaign.

I have to wonder, was anything more done then plan on writing Salm's bio. And was Crespin considered for any roles?

Another important bit about Crespin: former Imperial pilot.

Do you think he flew at Endor?

Have to admit Crespin eluded my recollection. Another reason to kick myself for not doing a Red Squadron roster for Endor -- I might have run across him in the research and given him a turn or two. Alas.

I think Crespin missed a lot of people :)

Make sure to mention Anaxes and its training grounds a bajillion times, now's your chance!

Fort Anaxes, named after the Defender of the Core known for its Azure Walk...[hundreds of words later] ... was the site of a battle between the Inquisitor and Kanan.

Reference Anaxes but make it a water planet or some **** just to mess with people.

And then other authors will follow suit, and we'll have a whole array of pre-existing planet names attached to new environments. Desert Manaan. Mountainous Chandrila. Ringworld Kuat. It'll be glorious.

Every Legends planet is now a franchise of Hologram Fun World. With bearded Hutts and at least one Biscuit Baron.

If you don't canonize Biscuit Baron I'm never bringing up Jupiter Pirates again.

Just finished Curse of the Iris, loved it,
especially the time jump and slightly darker tone and moral questions Tycho has to face now that he is older. Plus of course the nice classic pirate treasure and epic space battle ;)
Also had a few random questions if you don´t mind. :)

#1 It is properly explained in the first book, but the plasma weapons ships used are basically like old style sailing ship cannons targeted individually by a small gun crew, right? I assume you wrote it that way to add to the general “pirate movie” flair.

#2 Also properly explained in the first book (which I need to reread ^^) are nobles in the world of Jupiter Pirates self-declared? As in they just settled moons and gave themselves noble titles or was it something they brought with them from earth, since it seems to be a constitutional monarchy?

#3 Nice use of livre as unit of currency, I assume a call back to the old French currency system?

#4 How old is the Shadow Comet? Since it seems to have been in use by more than 4 generations of Hashoones.

#5 I assume book 3 is coming next year?

    Thx

I was going to read Jupiter Pirates #2 over the holiday, but someone confronted me over the fact that I hadn't actually read Dune before and told me I needed to fix that. So once I finish that, I think I will move on to this one.

Yes, I know, I am terrible at being a nerd :p

Yes, but I think they're just a little bit outranked by Dune :p

And also I did start the first one a while back! I just tend to read a lot of books at the same time.

    You haven't read Dune.

Clearly, if you want the whole picture, you should start with the Brian Herbert/KJA books.

I would challenge that ;) plus Jupiter Pirates is certainly more fun than Dune.

Curse of the Iris was great. Really liked the first one but enjoyed #2 even more.

Like Gorefiend says, the moral questions haunting Tycho were well-done. Great character development for him and for some characters who played more minor roles last time around. The entire universe that Jason's created is expanding, as is the depth of the people who inhabit it. And yeah, really fantastic space battles in this one.

Dune ot forget to buy it.
