further to what rogue-mistress said about Madine. His death was SOOO unexpected for me. That was cited as the biggest problem with the Bantam books- after a while everyone seemed invincible, as was evidenced in my reaction to his death: "WHAT THE ****?!?!". But I didn't feel any emotion for Crix's death- i mean, look at that guys hair!! he should have copped it long ago.

The rogue squadron books brought back that realism by making characters VERY vincible and expendable. RS were the most realistic novels, if you ask me, and the best.

Not the most emotional this one but Anakin Skywalker killing the Blood Carver in RoguePlanet filled me with dread because it was one of his first steps on the road to his inevitable destiny.

Ton Phanan's was the most emotional by far. Perhaps not the most important, but certainly the most emotional. I was ok when he actually died: sad, but holding together. Then I read the note he wrote to Face, and the will that Wedge gave him. That moved me to tears. Phanan was witty even on his death throes. And yet it was so poignant. IMO, it was the most emotional moment in all the EU.

Well number one has got to be Chewie. He was the only one who died that brought tears to my eyes. But close in second was Phannan.

Third place would be Borsk Fey'lya. It made me feel sorry for the furry bothan.

Not the death itself...but Wedge's having to write Ackbar about Jasmine was rough to me. You saw how they were friends and comrades, and you felt for Wedge, knowing how many times he has had to write such a letter. I alsoe have to say Lujanye Forge was rough because she died in a way people die, which is unawares, caught in combat. She was shot in her sleep. For a Rouge to go out like that, I mean, that is different...

Anakin, cos he went out like a true Jedi.
I didn't feel anything for Chewie because he never really had a role in the EU.

Chewie's death made me sad. Anakin's death pi----- me off. I was stuned, then it made me feel like "what am I gonna do now ?" But now, after reading a theory of SithSpit777's I'm kinda thinking.....hmmmmm.

For those that haven't read it go to Traitor Spoilers by SithSpit and you'll see what I mean.

Fey'la's death was excellent; however I felt Denning kind of trivialized it by having Lah predict that he would committ suicide like that.

As for moments in the EU when i've cried, I can only think of one time and that was when i was reading "Lightsabers" and Jacen goes into Tenel Ka's room to talk to her after he cuts up her arm. For some reason that just got to me.

I cried when Chewie died, it was very sad, but I think the most emotional scene for me was when Leia felt Anakin die. I didn't cry when he died, I never really liked him very much to begin with (although the scene was very well written) but Troy did such a good job writing about Leia that I started crying then.

Ton, then Chewie, then Anakin. Anakin's death didn't hurt as much because of how it was written. I wanted to see a big reaction out of Luke, and he was all restrained about it because of Mara. That kind of dulled the moment for me.

Ton's death, on the other hand, has to be the saddest death I've ever read. Chewie's exit was just so....Chewie. The imagery was beautiful.

Chewie's was written the best. His had the most impact. His was the most original. And his was the only one that made me cry. Read issue 4 of the Chewbacca mini-series and tell me you don't want to cry. I can't believe it took 20+ posts before anyone even mentioned Chewie. I must be dreaming, someone pinch me.

Ton? Anakin? Jack from Titanic? Sure, they were sad. . . but they couldn't touch Chewbacca.

Without question it would have to be Phanan's death scene. A close runner up would be Anakin's death, and like Kier, even though I had been spoiled already, it didnt take away from the impact of Troy Denning's writing.

When that one guy hit the propeller I felt really sad. Or any of the people trying to get out when rooms flooded. Or all the frozen bodies. I didn't ever think it was that what had happened was that horriable and life terror filled.

People laughed when we watched it in English class a few weeks ago. It was the first time I had seen it.

Sometimes I just want to teach people with my fist.

I was extremley saddened and depressed when that moon fell on Chewbacca. :( I was almost as sad when Anakin died, but I'd been spoiled and expected it.

Phanan's death was touching, and I was sad when Bosrk died as well. :(

Ton Phanan. Anakin...eh. I knew in advance, and frankly I flipped through SbS in the bookstore and decided I was going to save my money for a book I'd enjoy reading. Phanan I actually cared.

And is there anyone who DIDN'T laugh during "Titanic?" I think EVERYONE in the theater laughed or applauded when Leo died, we all yelled "Jump!" when Kate was thinking about throwing herself off the ship, and we called the Old Lady a few unkind things for tossing the jewel overboard. And while I had nothing against the extras (and everything against Leo) hearing a loud "BOING" when people bounced off things as they fell was really funny.
