Ah, but Jacen is the wimpiest Solo of them all. And Tenel Ka is double-tough.

im almost finished with Bloodlines and does Jacen honestly decide that thier gonna have to go?....he has been speaking rather fondly and emotional about them, he really misses them...

 

Sad to say, Padmare. Lumiya tells him he has to sacrifice... something for galactic security. Or something like that. Par usual, I'm boycotting the books.

It just angers me. All of SW since VP, actually. Tenel Ka should've been a major player since book one. And she and Jacen should've gotten married. It's just...

 

Well said. Especially about Jacen and Tenel Ka. Seriously, what's with that? He's clearly been head-over-heels for her for, like...ever. If you had asked me a few years ago, I would've bet good money on at least one of the Solo kids being married by now, and none of them are! I say it's high time we had another Star Wars wedding. We haven't really had a decent one since Luke and Mara in Union, IIRC.

 

Thanks, NP. I've written those two kids getting married 2-3 times in fic. They had destiny written all over them. Until VP... until the Dark Times. Now Anakin is dead, Jaina is... pathetic and Jacen is Sith. Brilliant, Del Rey. You've wiped out all credibilty the next generation had.

Tenel Ka is the heir-or was, and now runs-one of the richest and militarly powerful nation-states in Known Space. Cenjecture is the COnsortium was able to hold off the Empire. She's also one of the most lethal hand-to-hand combatant in thre Order. Top five humans, and the only non-humans superior to her would be Saba Sebatyne and Lowbacca. No way in hell Jacen can take her out. No, WAY!

 

I'm with ya, Striker. J/TK forever, sans Legacy! Heck, the only time I write that is to make fun of it, though I'm not sure if I'm very good at poking fun at stuff.

Some thoughts after reading (ok, skimming) Bloodlines:

Ok, why does Del Rey want to hurt me? Honestly, what did I ever do except give them money? Reading Star Wars novels is one of my little guilty pleasures; but if I don't have my Tenel Ka and I don't have my Jacen the way I like him (i.e, not an evil killing machine), they're not going to do it for me anymore. Then, what will I do to amuse myself? All I'll have left is "Nip/Tuck"! Seriously!

Anyway, I love Tenel Ka (sure, we all do!), and I feel kind of bad about the way she's been kicked out of sight and forced into the life she tried so hard to avoid. All I wanted was for her to get some good lovin' . . . preferably with Jacen. I love Jacen. During YJK I thought he was so adorable that I wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home with me. I even thought he was adorable in NJO, but I wanted to do different things with him at that time . So, they finally get it on . . . and now Jacen plans to kill her and their love child?! WTF?! I don't care if he has gone psychotic, he couldn't do that -- especially not to Tenel Ka! Why can't they do this with someone else? Someone like . . . I don't know . . . anyone I don't care about! That would be fine. Just leave Jasa alone!

They won't really kill off Tenel Ka, will they? I'd like to think that she has too much potential as a character and too much history with other major characters to get rid of her permanently. Of course, I could say similar things for some of the other characters they've killed off, so who knows. I'm really worried for her! And, I'm worried for the whole J/TK relationship. Even if he tries to kill them, fails, and later regrets it, that's got to put a damper on the possibility for future romance (not that we've really had much romance so far). I don't know from experience, but I would assume that having your lover try to kill you and your daughter would throw cold water on your lust. Not good.

On a completely unrelated note, I just read somewhere that Jaina is supposed to be 4'11" tall. Can that be right? Even I'm taller than that, and I'm too short to see into my mailbox at school!

I agree as well. They should make Jaina kill Jag a little more.

 

The way I think of it: Han and Leia managed to raise one kid who deserves to die, one kid who keeps trying to die, and one kid who did die. Why couldn't they combine all three into one package and have two normal kids left over?

You brainwash an eight-year-old, torture your lover's grandmother, and (here's the kicker) touch off a genocidal interstellar war to protect your lover and your daughter, then turn around less than five years later and decide you need to kill them both...to prove you're not evil?

?!

Jacen needs to eat a meter or so of turquoise plasma if he tries anything. And that is a fact.

Or Tenel Ka could just arrange for something about his food to disagree with his stomach. Hapan-style.

 

I need to take a break from the cosmology and physics books. I read "turquoise plasma" as actual turquoise that was heated until went through the phase changes all the way to plasma. "Why would Tenel Ka feed him superheated gas-like stones when she could just use her... oh. Never mind!"

I guess. I just wasn't aware that Leia was supposed to be that petite. I guess Jacen stole all the tall Han Solo genes in utero, which proves that he gets everything. No wonder Jaina's so pissed off all the time! And you know what's really terrible? She still has no idea she has a little niece! I know if my sister ever had a baby, I would want to be there with little dresses, little shoes, and a camera. Perhaps she'll find out in the next book? Then, it's dress up time! Yay!

Couldn't they hold an intervention for him or something? Luke, Mara, and Jaina (am I missing anyone else?) have all been down that road to some extent. You'd think maybe they would recognize some warning signs and maybe do something about it. They should be good at this by now!

Come to think of it, family therapy is long overdue for the Skywalker and Solo families.

Family therapy for the Solo-Skywalker clan-- what an excellent idea! Oh man, if I could hop into the Star Wars universe, you can bet I'd zoom straight to Jacen and slap him upside the head for being such an idiot. I am really hoping Tenel Ka will do that for me sometime soon. I think she is the only person in the galaxy who has a chance at persuading Jacen to choose the right.

Hehehe . . . Darth Moron I'm actually hoping he'll be Darth Jacen because I think that would be hillarious and it would probably get a reaction similar to all the jokes he made up in YJK . Plus, back when the special edition versions were hitting theaters, I clipped a week's worth of "Fox Trot" in which the kid, Jason, was writing a letter to Lucasfilm trying to get himself digitally inserted into the movies as Luke's younger brother Jason. In his version of TESB, he accepted Darth Vader's offer to help him rule the galaxy, and by ROTJ he had become "Darth Jason." He even made up a Darth Jason action figure. Anyway, that cracked me up, and I would love it if Darth Jacen actually made it into the canon. Then, whenever anybody called him "Jacen," he could correct them: "No, it's Darth Jacen now."

Maybe she could tie him to a bed and spank him until he learns to behave himself!
However, as much as I would like that, I think Jaina may be the one who redeems him (assuming he doesn't die) because it would be more poetic -- a demonstration of the twin bond . . . or something.

And, yeah, I agree they definitely need counselling. They should at least go on one of those retreats where they have to tell secrets and hug each other. Everybody's got issues! Tenel Ka should probably go too. She's family now, for better or for worse.

 

Hey, I turned the Tenel Ka thread into a Jacen-bashing festival. Yay!

The Tragedy of Darth Credulous the Gullible

Scene: A sail barge over the Sarlacc. Darth Credulous, Not-So-Bright Lord of the Sith, walks over to a cage containing Leia, Jaina, Luke, Ben, Mara, Tenel Ka, and Allana.

DARTH CREDULOUS: I'm sorry, but I have to toss you all into the Sarlacc to prove how ethical I am. Lumiya said so.
ALLANA: Mommy? I want to go home. Daddy is being mean and scary.

[Leia swoons into Han?s arms.]

TENEL KA: That is a fact.
MARA: But you're just in love, right? Not becoming a Sith Lord?
DARTH CREDULOUS: [As he inserts brown-tinted contact lenses over his orange eyes] A Sith Lord? Me? That's ridiculous. Uh, that way lies the dark side.
MARA: [Relieved] Oh, good. I'm sure you'll make a great Jedi of little Ben!
LUKE: I want a divorce.
BEN: Jacen, I want to be just like you when I grow up.

[Luke grabs Jacen's lightsaber with the Force and uses it commit Sepuku.]

DARTH CREDULOUS: Dad, you get to go first!

[Darth Credulous grabs Han with the Force and tosses him off the edge of the sail barge.]

HAN: Aaaaaiiiieeeeee!!!!
ALL except MARA: Nnnnnooooooo!!!!!!
MARA: What?s the big deal? It?s not like he blew up the Jade Shadow or something important like that.

[Han Solo climbs over the edge of the sail barge with a blindfold over his eyes and shoots Darth Credulous in the back.]

DARTH CREDULOUS: But...it was so...anticlimactically...done...
TENEL KA: That is a fact.
HAN: Jacen, you aren?t my son. No son of mine would be so stupid as to toss his father off the side of the sail barge that doesn?t have a Sarlacc on it.
MARA: Han, what did you do that for? Jacen was setting such a nice example for little Ben!
HAN: Um, because he?s a Sith Lord.
TENEL KA: That is a fact.
MARA: Oh. Jacen? Jacen!
DARTH CREDULOUS: Y-yes...?
MARA: If you?re a Sith Lord, why didn't you say so earlier? You know I've always been openly nostalgic about working for Palpatine.
TENEL KA: That is a fact.
MARA: Are you taking applications?
DARTH CREDULOUS: Uh...ugh...

[Han dumps the lightsabers of Ben, Leia, Tenel Ka, and Jaina on the floor. He grabs Jacen's lightsaber and hacks the cage open. Tenel Ka rips Mara?s head off, with little effect on her overall intelligence. Ben, Leia, Tenel Ka, and Jaina retrieve their lightsabers and proceed to repeatedly stab Darth Credulous as Han shoots him.]

LEIA: This is for waiting until after Tsnidely Whiplah crushed my legs before saving me.
HAN: [stops shooting] Wait. It feels like we?re forgetting someone.
TENEL KA: That is a fact. But who?
HAN: Oh, yeah. Hold on, I?ll be back in eight hours or so.

[Eight hours later. Han exits the Millennium Falcon]. He unclips a lightsaber from his belt and hands it to Allana. Allana ignites it.]

TENEL KA: Ah. Aha.
ALLANA: Ooh, it?s purple. My favorite color! Thanks, grandpa.

[Han?s eyes widen. His mouth hangs open. Allana pokes Darth Credulous to death. The Force spirit of Jacen Solo appears.]

JACEN: Hey, everybody.
HAN: Jacen! What the hells are you doing here?! Did you go through some stiflingly hokey redemption at the last second?
JACEN: Hey, what are you talking about?
HAN: I thought Sith couldn?t do that!
JACEN: Hey, Sith? Hey, who said anything about Sith?

[All glare at Jacen]

JACEN: Hey, oh yeah! Hey, Admiral Del'Rey ran me over with a Star Destroyer a few months after I finished up at the academy and repl

Woah, I just found this thread, I had no idea it was here. Tenel Ka is awesome. Shes been my faorite character since I read the YJK books. Thats my favorite series cause of her. We need to see more Tenel Ka in the books. She doesn't have a big enough part right now.
